Southern Indiana Equipment (SIE) is a large lawn equipment dealer. They currently have two…read morelocations, the original location in Lanesville IN and their newer location in Sellersburg IN. They not only sell lawn equipment, they also repair equipment. SIE's main business is selling and servicing Zero Turn lawn mowers as well as lawn tractors. SIE sells everything from residential mowers to big commercial mowers that can sell for several thousands of dollars. I had bought a zero turn mower from SIE 11 years ago at their original Lanesville location which was before they opened the Sellersburg store. After over 10 years of mowing grass, my zero turn frame broke. While I wasn't happy about what I thought was going to be a major repair, I understood mechanical things don't last forever. I have taken excellent care of my mower and had expected it to last at least a couple more years. I went to SIE to do two things, get an estimate for repairing my mower, and look at new mowers and prices. I spoke with Steve a repair mechanic, about my mower and the break. Steve said they'd seen this type of break before and he could fix it without too much trouble and cost. Steve gave me a rough estimate of what it would cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the repair cost wasn't as much as I was expecting. The only hang up is the shop is so busy, Steve said he might not be able to get to the repair for a week! Steve did promise he would get it fixed as soon as possible but he couldn't guarantee anything. I made arrangements to have them come pick up my mower and get in line to get my mower repaired. SIE picked up my mower 1st thing the next morning. Within 2 days Steve repaired my mower and for the very cost he estimated when we spoke. My mower was returned to me very quickly and I'm back to mowing with my old mower. Very happy with their repair cost and service. IF I decide to buy a new zero turn in the future, SIE will be the first people I check with. The ONLY reason I didn't give them 5 stars is nobody in the facility was/is wearing mask nor social distancing. This all happened prior to the latest guidance on mask wearing by CDC.

I wanted some general maintenance done on it to make sure it was in tip top shape. The previous owner bought it from Southern Indiana equipment and had them maintain it. When I took it in they took the time to look up what had previously been done on that mower so they didn't try to charge me for things that didn't need to be done. To me that was very impressive. Even more impressive was that when I dropped it off and picked it up two different guys took the time to show me some things about my mower, what to look for if something isn't working right and some general tips to make it last longer. I also thought the prices on the parts were extremely reasonable. They could have charged me twice the price for spark plugs, filters, and a couple other things and I wouldn't have thought anything of it. I felt that their customer service was way above normal customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or maintain a riding mower. I also own a cub cadet riding mower and they said they work on all types of mowers so anytime I need maintenance done on either machine I will be taking it there. Thanks for the great service

I was very shocked when I got the invoice. $250 worth of parts ended up costing $1700 by the time I got it back. The service department was not busy at all. Apparently they had to charge me for all their guys that had nothing to work on. ( price gouging ??) I've had the other hose replaced from another place and it was not more then $500 for parts and labor. Same hose on the other side of the machine. Called them to question their pricing and they came up with all kinds of reasons why it cost so much when in reality it was a 2-4 hour job at most not 10 hours like I was charged. Well needless to say I won't be going there for service anymore. On a good note they seem like nice people just should be more up front with what it's going to cost when you drop your equipment off. I was told "if it's just a hose it won't be that bad to have it replaced". $1700 is pretty bad.

SIE hasn't carried Ariens mowers for many years, and they do not carry ANY Ariens parts what-so-ever. Additionally the only retailer selling Ariens in the Louisville area is Lowes and they do not handle parts either. BTW this lack of a replacement parts is something you should consider before buying any brand mower. Yes you can find parts on line, but many times you need the part today and on line purchases are not always reliable and can take a week or more to be delivered. All that said, recently I've needed a couple parts and could not find them anywhere locally. When I searched on line for my parts, several times my part number was cross referenced with Gravely mower parts. Ariens and Gravely are made by the same manufacturer. So I start researching Gravely dealers in the Louisville area. Eureka, The Mower Shop is a Gravely dealer! Not only is The Mower Shop a Gravely dealer, they carry a large inventory of replacement parts. The Mower Shop has had every part I've needed so far, and at reasonable prices. Additionally, the employees I've dealt with were all friendly and knowledgeable. IF I ever buy a new zero turn, The Mower Shop will be my first stop!

I drove accross town because we had a Toro mower with A Briggs and Stratton engine...not purchased…read morethere. We did not have the recept or card statement. but after contacting Toro/ Briggs they suggested going to an authorized service center and if it was that new ( less than year ?) they would be able to verify by serial # ...I remembered my parents had bought mowers there years back (I'm almost 68 so years ago) the guy at the desk was very courteous. But he went back to ask the " lady that handled warranties" each time he came back I wasn't able to provide..receipt no..credit card statement no ...I had intended to leave it for repair ( on my dime) but an older larger woman came out to repeat what he had already said...but then said I had not been told what I said by the engine company...as a retired medical professional I suppose I had not been called a liar in so long I was shocked. He went to see cost to check it out after he stepped away I thought why patronize people who feel free to call you a liar ..so I eggresses replaced my mower in the truck...but came back In side to tell him why I was not leaving it and to thank him for his time. They appear busy so I guess they have plenty of business...not to worry I won't waste another minute there....I looked online when I returned home and there are things posted from Briggs and Toro indicating what I was told. I'm not sure why she chose to say they never told you that as opposed to they may have told you that but our company policy won't allow it or ? Perhaps being a mower warranty clerk in a mower shop at her age has made her bitter ? Who knows... I think we'd use pinking shears on the lawn before returning there.

Prices are typically a bit higher priced then other stores of the same category, but close by an save on trip length and gas.
