Was very excited to not have to drive super far to get to some local hiking. This area very much reminded me of my hometown. I am only going to review one hike though as that is all i had the chance to enjoy of wasatch mountain state park. If I were in heber again i would love to go and explore this beauty more. Crows nest via huber grove via epperson is the hike we attempted to go on. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/crows-nest-via-huber-grove-to-epperson Its a 5.1 mile loop trail that starts at the parking lot next to the visitor center. It is rated moderate. so there are so many off shoots on this trail. We followed teh all trails map and it led us astray. We eventually found the finale crows nest loop but my teens were done at that point and we just headed back. The loop in all trails map also is longer than what is listed. There are not a lot of signs that say crows nest. We did find our way out easily enough. Trail is dry. Pretty area once you get up into the trees. It is nice that wasatch is not too far out of town so very accessible. If you do not have a utah state parks pass be sure to bring $10 cash or go to the website at teh parking lot and then you can pay for parking online

If you're looking for the perfect winter adventure in Utah, Rocky Mountain Outfitters in Midway…read moreabsolutely delivers a magical, unforgettable experience -- especially during the Christmas season. From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel completely welcomed. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their horses and the beautiful area they work in. The seasonal horseback rides are incredible. Early in the season, you ride through the charming town of Midway, surrounded by snowy fields and mountain views that look like a Christmas postcard. Later in the season, the rides move up to Soldier Hollow, where the scenery becomes even more breathtaking -- open meadows, Olympic-era trails, and the Wasatch Mountains glowing in the winter light. The horses are gentle, well-trained, and perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike. But the true holiday magic comes from their draft horse wagon rides. Being pulled by beautiful Percheron and Belgian horses through thousands of sparkling Christmas lights at the Wasatch Mountain Golf Course is absolutely enchanting. The sleigh bells, the crisp winter air, the glow of the lights -- it feels straight out of a movie. Rocky Mountain Outfitters is a must-do winter tradition. Five stars without hesitation! I had to book really early they book up fast and it was a nice but not too cold night. They also do sleigh rides for the Ice Castles at Midway. Our horses names were Lock and load beautiful Perchons. So if you want to do something different book now for next Christmas you won't regret it.

Check in was quick and easy, sign a waiver and hop on a bus to take you to the top. Once there you will find the tubes and go down the river which can take 1.5-2 hours. Make sure to grab a paddle which will come in handy with the bushes and trees on the side. It's cold once you get it but it's fun and relaxing on a nice hot day!

I figured it wasn't meant to be. But then we took a drive to Heber, and I saw a big sign for High Country Adventure. Looked up their site, called to see what our options were. No problem! Book on the site! So we did. It was great. Checkin went fine. Getting life jackets went smooth. Loading on the bus and getting up to the drop off point was a breeze. Waited for our raft and guide to hail us, then we loaded up and headed down River. Nice and relaxing ride down. After the fact, I looked up reviews. I can imagine any of the poor reviews happening since all the staff seem young. Luckily for us, everyone was fine the day we went. (I've been to plenty of other places in the area that have terrible customer service from high school/young peeps, lol!) Our guide was fantastic. The rest of our group was with another guide that they raved about. I've floated the River years before when we rented tubes from BYU. It was such a pain to haul them to the river, have two people drive a car down river, and then everyone load up and drive up river. High Country Adventure makes it super easy and convenient to get to and on the River. Glad we found them! We've already recommended them to friends, and will be back!

Check in was easy and they go through all the do's & dont's of using the boat. The pontoon we reserved was the cheapest, but it was really nice compared to ones we've rented in the past at other lakes/rivers. Had Bluetooth speakers which added to the experience. We were bummed out the weather was a bit crappy so I felt like we didn't get to fully enjoy the experience. Also, unless you plan to jump off the boat and swim/float etc., there's no where to beach it to hang out, and you are told to stay 150 feet away from the edges due to shallow water and rocks. The water was a chilly 52 for Memorial Day weekend and without sun and warm temps we didn't get into the water. We ended up returning our rental early due to rain, but checking the boat back in was easy. I definitely recommend renting if you're spending a day here. It's got gorgeous views and it's very big. There were some cool teepees out of what looked like driftwood or something along the South Eastern section that merges into Provo River. There's beautiful homes along northern edges as well.
