Over the years, the store has evolved from a tiny storefront on Main Street over 40 years ago to its current modern and well laid out location right off Rt 66/6. . There's a large clothing section as well as an excellent greeting card offering but it's strength lies in the unique items the store carries for unique gift items . I've never walked out of the store empty handed! If you need a unique gift option for new baby, engagement, wedding or birthdays, the Hoot is well worth the trip. The interior is clean & bright and the machines are well maintained. There is always a store employee present, unlike before. I've run into the owner a couple times and he is very friendly and helpful. The machines are very efficient, so it doesn't take much soap to do a load of wash. The owner was really helpful in understanding how to use the machines well, and he ran an extra cycle for me at no charge to rinse my clothes when I had put in way too much soap. I did have a conversation with him about the policy where you have to wash clothes there in order to use the dryer. There are other concerns than just having unwashed clothes put in a dryer. I can see how some would find it off-putting, but with all the other positives, I'm willing to accept it. Even if it means I occasionally need to wash my clothes there when it's only my home dryer that's broke. There was a sign that mentioned the policy at one point, but it may no longer be there.
