It is a must stop for me every time I am in Watkins Glen. Two Chicago pork chop sandwiches please! :)

Great service! And a unique concept to boot! Food was classic diner fare, but cooked just right.

A huge fan of this place and I am glad my wife recommended it to me…read more Food: I ended up going with an all-american beef burger which was OUTSTANDING. I was also super interested in their salted potatoes which I never had before. The potatoes were good, but the butter by the end made it a bit heavy, albeit delicious. Service: the young lady helping us was so nice and gave us some recommendations which ended up with the potatoes. Aesthetic: really cool design with the tables and almost feels like a camp cantina. I really liked that they served the potatoes in a plant pot, it made it feel very farm-like.

My wife's was great too. Sadly they did not have shakes when we went. I absolutely loved the poutine tots, and this was probably my favorite thing we ordered! I had a good chuckle at the negative reviews posted in the bathroom too. I won't be joining those. It's counter service with lots of seating inside, and the restaurant was clean and vibrant. Staff was friendly too, and I enjoyed the tableside marshmallow toasting. The marshmallow did seem to have an odd floral taste to it, but I didn't mind it at all. They also have alcohol available.

They serve classic all beef, grilled, hot dogs with any of the following items kosher New York City sauerkraut, freshly grilled onions and peppers, spicy pepper relish, onions, classic pickle relish, Nancy's mustard, and of course ketchup and yellow mustard. They even have veal dogs, Italian pork sausages, and chicken spiedies (grilled chicken cubes in a hotdog bun -- spiedies are an upstate NY invention). I have tried all of these options and they are all fantastic, but I am a purest and love the kosher all beef dog with grilled peppers and a touch of sauerkraut the best. You can also purchase frito-lay bags of chips and bottled/canned drinks. He uses local wieners ...tee hee....from Hofmann's franks based out of Syracuse New York. Lou notes that he thinks that "central New Yorkers prefer the grilled flavor to the classic New York city steamed or boiled hot dogs." This is why he switched to a gas powered grill in 2001. I can't agree more, I love the grill. Lou is super friendly, and he'll chat with you as he prepares your dogs. Its $2 per hot dog. One dog is a great snack, 2 dogs or 1 chicken spiedie is a great meal. I never "plan" to eat here as the hours are dependent on the wether, I usually see them while walking around the commons and can't resist.

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews. The food is fantastic. The prices ($3 for sausage with…read morepeppers and onions?!?!) are incredible, and Lou is an extremely nice guy.

First of all, i ordered a texas hot, no mustard. I then watched the lady grab the most liquidy,…read moresloppy, and stale scoop of the meat sauce. I then picked it up to take the first bite, but something was wrong, i picked it up then the whole thing was completely sloppy and fell apart as a grabbed it, it even stained my brand new shorts, lady was nice but still the food was not fresh like a real hot dog place would have their foods. Either way i went to TRY and enjoy my food it was 10000° inside of the place and just dirty in general, outside the tables were rocky and every time i grab something the table would rock and even caused my brothers drink to fall down. I have been coming here since i was a little lad, it had completely fallen down hill since the main guy hasn't been here that much. Come to think of it, i came here last year, my strawberry shake, was just more like hard icecream in a cup! My hotdog was also grey.

Cash only establishment…read more I have walked by this place a few times and usually it is closed, but since I work in the nearby area I decided to stop here for some ice cream. They only do soft serve ice cream, I would say their specialty would be milkshakes. The woman told me they had the best milkshakes so I wanted to see if this was true. I can't say it's the best milkshake I've ever had, but it was pretty good. My only issue with this milkshake is the fact that it is soft serve vanilla ice cream and a chocolate milk. You remember the days when you were a kid and got the carton of chocolate milk for lunch? Yeah, that kind, from that exact carton. There are different flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and a few others I can't remember. Some people may like the style, not really my cup of ice cream but I like the concept of this store. I like the walk-by window to order. You don't have to go inside to order, you can be walking along the street and see it and order from the sidewalk. I love that style, it's unique and it works well for a quick bite like a hot dog. You can get the "works" on it and then keep shopping! GOOD IDEA. Side note: I don't eat hot dogs so I can't really say how those taste, but when I walk into the actual store, it reminds me of the ball fields as a kid. Going to the concession stand to buy a hot dog [when I ate them] and soda. Good memories.
