Ambience! Teas, tea paraphernalia, and garnishment abound.
Brad S.

My wife and I were passing through NS as cruise ship tourists(from Atlanta GA) and on a calm, yet chilly afternoon decided that a stop for a spot of hot tea sounded perfect. We weren't looking for this place in specific but rather happened upon it, and a good thing we did! Lovely varieties of tea displayed in easy to decipher packaging; quaint decor & ambience, with a decidedly geeky(and proud of it!) spirit; and a very friendly young lady at the helm, directing our decisions and answering our questions all made this a must-stop when we next find ourselves back in Halifax.

Argyle Street's premiere tea shop is officially open for business, giving its predecessor a major facelift. Walking in-- the spot is bright, airy and with a high-tea mentality that lingers through interior touches to the actual drink/ food servings. Having just a wee space to work with hasn't stopped this spot from making it about the experience. Blah seating has been replaced by tall leather chairs and a small whirl of tables. A fresh coat of paint, counter/ menu board revamps... the entire space feels more open and inviting with these new touches. I dallied my way through a lovely corner set-up of tea accessories and take home blends. The Tea House sells about 70 or so of their own making, as well as a nice selection of Stash. Gourmet tea makers, teacups, extra gadgets and steepers are all available in clean and modern aesthetic, and I found two mugs that I'd l o v e to drink my morning tea in. The tea selection? Solid. Treats? This was the closing deal for me. As a tea fanatic... what accompanies my hot one is just as important. Its the full experience! So to see glass encasements of frosted cupcakes, oversized squares, embellished rolls of delight-- I was impressed. These people really know how to compliment a good tea, and with my herbal green, my first Tea House indulgence would be the Blueberry Roll. Delicious, glazed and melt-in-your-mouth. Organic honey and fair trade delights complete a bout of near perfection. Thoroughly impressed with the new fresh look, great service and solid offerings. I will come here often.

Earl grey hot chocolate with lots of foam; coconut cocoa pu erh tea pot.

Had a really great, light and well-balanced earl grey hot chocolate. There was a lot of foam though - took a while to figure out how to drink it without giving myself a milk beard. My travel companion had a coconut cocoa pu erh that was full bodied and flavorful. This was a nice place to take a break from walking through windy downtown. The mugs stayed really hot, though the tea inside was a drinkable temp after a few minutes.

I have visited World Tea House on 2 occasions. Growing up in NL, it was Tetley tea or die so I was turned from all things tea. In my older age, I have decided to abandon my prejudice of tea and embrace it. So... on a frigidly cold evening last week I decided to go to the World Tea house and get something to pour over my legs.... oops! Drink to warm me. I was greeted as I walked in the shop by a lovely woman who saw the deer in the headlights look (and faintly panicked) and was gracious enough to answer the stupidest tea questions on the planet!! I decided on a Peach rooibos and let me tell you... That is something to savor!! They have so many varieties there that I immediately texted my friend to tell him about this shop! He is a tea guy and wanted to know everything!! I like it so much, I went back 3 days later! Sweet Cinnamon Tea! Mary, mother of god, that is something in a cup!!!

So many cute tea-knacks!

This is one of those fantastic places you walk by and see everyday then one day you go in...and your life is changed forever! Phil is fantastic and makes sure every person working there is equally full of tea knowledge! They help you chose the best tea for you and are super helpful in proper brewing techniques and just generally cool people! They also have a great selection of locally made treats...cookies and bars etc. and its a great place to get some work done or just hang out with some friends! Really there is just nothing but amazing things to say about this lovely spot! Now to try the Sunny Side location...

I asked for lemon, phil gave me a whole half sliced on a side plate. So I went to town.

After checking out some of the competition, I have definately confirmed that this is THE PLACE to go in HRM for tea. Period. For Price, Ethics, Taste, Selection, Staff, Environment it gets all around 10s. There is very little that could be improved here, unless they would start serving food so I don't have to go around the corner to pick up lunch and bring it back. Perhaps a tea-membership program or some fancier flooring, but as far as improvements go. This is the place to go for organic, environmentally sound, fair trade, high quality, staff knowledge, taste, selection and quantity. They offer a wide selection of daily use tea ware to get you brewing efficiently at home. This place is geared towards tea lovers and new tea enthusiasts. It's the best price, best in house cup of tea, and best place for your daily tea needs. They even have cute gift boxes of tea and some niffty tea gadgets (like usb/car heated travel mugs). The gift boxes contain a few smaller tins to fill with your choice of tea with environmentally friendly tissue paper. The box is simple, cute and good for the earth. Their latte selection is great, they offer chocolate varieties, cider based creations and amazing re-steeps on plain pots. Plus their rotating featured creation means that there is always something new on the books. Plus the ability to add mint/lemon verbena and other simple flavours to existing blends gives clients the ability to experiment themselves.

A house of tea, what's not to love? I had been meaning to stop in here for ages, finally did tonight. They have this vast selection of tea, it's insanely hard to decide what to get. I decided on the pumpkin pie tea and oh boy, it was deliciously delightful. The service was great too and they have so much to look at with their cute tea accessories and decor. It's a cozy little space with a welcoming atmosphere. I can't wait to come back and try more! I hope they can also get in some more vegan-friendly treats and snacks. They do have Larabar's and Crowbar's but some vegan cookies would be nice. :) P.S. I'd choose this place over David's Tea any day of the week! Their products are a million times more natural.

My son and I were in Saturday buying birthday presents for my wife. The Aladdin mobile tea cup is awesome. The staff is very helpful. The tea selection is impressive including discs of Pu-Eeh. The Purple Oolong is wonderful. The owner is thinking about adding a tea bar to be able to incorporate tea ceremonies which I think would be pretty special. edit - speeling

It's lovely to go here for a hot or cold drink to enjoy in the store, or to shop for packages of tea.

Part craft/art supply store, part teahouse, combined equal perfection. I think absolutely everything about this place is adorable. The art supply area of the store has cute postcards, stamps, stickers, journals, planners, pens, jewelry beads, tea sets and so much more. The teahouse portion offers hot beverages, as well as, vegan and nonvegan light food fare. Vegan options include a rice, seaweed and mushroom soup (doesn't sound like much but it's actually delicious), a fruit breakfast bowl with rice, green onion and seasame pancakes and candied walnuts. They also offer soy milk for drinks or to bring home. The gentleman who has always been working when we have gone (I believe he's also the owner) is very nice as well. They have a nice seating area and my favourite spot is the window where there are stools. There's a little rock garden with adorable plants and cacti. It's simply heavenly. Prices are also very reasonable. It is probably my new favourite place to relax.

The room is divided between the craft section and the tea house, where there are tons of different types of tea and lots of places to sit and sip, or craft away to your hearts content. The art/craft section sells just about everything you could want from washi tape to brushes. I really need to make a point of going in again and having a more thorough look because I got so excited about the washi tape that I didn't look as closely as I wanted. I bought a couple of tea samples to take home with me as well and the green tea is delicious! Man...this is really reminding me that I've got to go back and have tea!

The place is quite small and we were lucky to get a table. Most of the other patrons were 60+ so it's a great place to take mom or nana. The decor is rustic, much like you would expect for a tea room on a farm. Mom ordered the quiche, which was lovely and my sister ordered the homemade beans which she'd had on a previous visit and was opting for again, being that they were so good. The beans came with a home made tea biscuit which was impressive. These can be a tough one to master! I had a roast beef sandwhich that was good, but I would have preferred to have had one of the other delicious looking meals at the table. Service was good, they were very busy and possibly a little understaffed, but food came out at a good pace. There is a selection of home made desserts as well that looked really yummy. Apparently there is tea served at 2 each afternoon. There is a cute little gift shop inside as well with a bunch of fun little items to browse. A little gem in Cole Harbour!

I think they must have been in the process of replacing the sign when I visited because there was no signage. I got the Mango "Cold Fried" yogurt ($8.45) and it was great. They pour liquid yogurt on this cold metal plate and the yogurt freezes and they break it up into pieces and put it in a cup. I initially wanted the Strawberry one, but they said they ran out of it, so I got the Mango one instead. The mango one had chunks of mango in it, as well as raisins. The texture was cool. It's a bit chewier than regular frozen yogurt, if that makes sense. It tastes like the ice cream that's made using liquid nitrogen. I really liked it, but I can see how some people may prefer traditional frozen yogurt. It took a while for them to make it because they had to wait for the machine to get cold enough. The wait was worth it though. Service was courteous. However, I think they raised the prices from what's on the menu board or they over charged me because I was charged over $10 (after taxes, before tip) for it. I'm from Ontario, so I just assumed that taxes in Nova Scotia were super high, but I later discovered Nova Scotia taxes are 15% so that wouldn't have brought the price to over $10. Anyway, it's something that I noticed, but seems to happen at a lot of places these days, not just in Nova Scotia, but also back home in Ontario. It's a bit pricey, although the portion is quite large. Good for a sometimes treat ;)
