If it's your first time with bubble tea I recommend trying the peach or mango with no milk, after that start trying out some of the more exotic flavours like litchi with milk or taro. The signature milk tea is the Magic Tea, highly recommended. There are probably 100 different teas on the menu. Summer time is the best time for the chillers, essentially a bubble tea slushy. Price wise they are pretty reasonable for this type of experience, but be prepared to spend 15.00 for two. If it's getting late best to give them a call and make sure they have bubbles left. :)

The store has decent bubble tea but it is overpriced. 6 dollars for a regular size... a little to…read morerich for my blood. My main complaint, however, is the fact that the owner is so rude. I went in there one night when he was with a bunch of his friends and he stated that they are all out of bubble yea... I find that very hard to believe. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back a few days later. I was greeted by the same unfriendly owner who acted as though he was doing me a favor and did not even greet me upon entrance. I was asking which flavor was his favourite and he simply asked me to turn the menu around to reflect the "best in Halifax" marking on the front. A real jerk, I will not be returning and the Indochine Banh M near spring garden will be my go to, the tea is better anyways.... Spare yourself the time. This guy has a problem with Canadian Natives.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Good bubble tea not far from the waterfront…read more The Longer Version: I stopped by and got a small Brown Sugar Bubble Taro Milk ($6.49). I had initially wanted to get it without added sugar but I was advised that the sugar level of this drink was fixed. Fortunately, I didn't find it too sweet at all. The mashed taro is sweetened and the brown sugar tapioca pearls are sweet, but I don't think they added additional sugar to the milk, so I was a happy camper. The taro is warm, but even with the less ice I ordered, after I mixed up the drink it was sufficiently cold. Service was neutral, but efficient. The lone staff member seemed really disinterested in serving customers. I got my drink rather quickly. Although I noted I was the only customer in the store, lol. White Alley Bubble Tea is the only non-chain bubble tea that was within walking distance from our hotel room, so I really wanted to try it and I'm glad I did. I wasn't like blown away by my drink or anything, but I was happy. Decor is pretty minimalist but they have a few tables and chairs if you want to hang out. (188)

Walking in I immediately fell in love. The soothing fountain, wooden elephant chair and massive wall lined with tea were the first things to catch my eye. They have lots of cool things for sale from tea sets, to pillows, to singing bowls, ginger chews and other tea merchandise. We ordered a peach rooibos tea and took a seat upstairs. You get a view of the whole shop from up there which I simply love. The two people working were both very nice and happy to answer our questions. The tea was lovely as well. This is one of my new favourite spots I think. I definitely plan on going back.

I popped in today on a lovely walk through Granville Street and was taken with all of the lovely goods for purchase. There are hundreds of loose teas, dozens of tea sets in every shape, color and design, as well as candles and incense. They even have Buddhist wares available and a few different areas around the shop to sit and enjoy the calming space. The owner was very kind and the whole experience left me feeling simply wonderful. Sawadee is a great place for gift shopping and acquiring every kind of tea under the sun.
