I ordered an apple green tea and received a jasmine one, which was disgusting by the way. Then, the person who took my order denied it and blamed it on me, refusing to apologize or to give me another one. Believe it or not, this Torontonian had her first Chatime experience in Halifax, lol. When I'm on vacation I prefer to eat/drink at places that don't exist closer to home, but I was shopping on Spring Garden Road and got thirsty and as fate would have it, I spotted Chatime. These guys are a chain and are everywhere in the GTA, I've just never been before. Anyway, I was pretty happy with my bubble tea. I got a regular-sized Red Bean Pearl Milk Tea ($4.49). I got 30% sugar and 80% ice which means 30% of the sugar that they would normally put in (so mine was much less sweet) and 80% of the ice that they would normally put in (so a little bit less ice). In my opinion, this was perfect. However, I don't like sweet drinks. I love how you can customize the amount of sugar and ice. The drink comes with both red beans and tapioca pearls. The pearls were nice and chewy and the red beans were not too soft nor too firm. Service was really nice. It was not busy when I went and the staff were really patient with me since I was so indecisive. The place is really clean and new looking. read more

My friend kept talking about bubble tea so we decided to see if we could find a place in Halifax where we could get it. Chatime is a chain bubble tea bar. The menu can be a bit daunting because they offer so much but for vegans they actually have a guide next to the cash that shows you what is suitable. There's still quite a few choices but sadly they don't offer a plant based milk for any of their milky teas. Even so, they have some delicious fruity teas that you can add the bubble pearls to. My favourite so far is the Hawaiian fruit tea. I like that you can customize how much sugar and ice you want too. I've now become a bubble tea addict and simply love their fruit tea here. read more

Finally, Chatime is here! Halifax has been lacking in the proper Bubble tea scene for as long as I've been here. The first time I sipped (or slurped) a cup of Bubble tea from Chatime was in Toronto. I was blown away by how "serious" the tea tasted. Growing up in Taiwan while bubble tea became popular, I've had my share of good and bad and mediocre bubble teas. My favorite is the Roasted milk tea with pearls and grass jelly. It's got that darker taste that I haven't been able to find from other bubble tea shops. It's both interesting and annoying at the same time to be able to adjust how sweet and how much ice you want your tea. Since this is the new kid on the block, be prepared to wait, and wait some more. I have never seen so many choices offered at a tea shop at this place so it took me a while to decide. I went back and forth with a couple of choices, but ended up with green tea and red beans milk tea with boba. This place earns five stars from me is because you can select the sweet level, how much ice you want in the drink, and their various topping selections. I ordered mine with 60% ice and 30% sugar which I thought was perfect because the beans are already sweet. Chatime! This was my first time for me to try the proper Bubble tea. I did go there last week and they had some promotions on. (Buy 1 small and get free upgrade to large) The store isn't too small but it was too crowded and lined up. I noticed that the staff wasn't quick, maybe it will take time for them to get their hands on it. So go there only if you have all the time in the world. We waited for more than an hour from the time we ordered to the time our drinks were ready. This is where they lost a star. I ordered Pearl milk tea with Pudding and Chocolate mousse. Both were nice. I would definitely recommend everyone to try this. Good option for summers. One tea cost approx 5$ and above. I would go back for sure but don't want to wait for an hour for a tea. I thought this place was great for bubble tea. I really wish it was easier to order non-milk bubble tea, but the wait staff seemed very confused when I tried to do so. I really just like iced tea with pearls, but have yet to figure out a way to order this. The prices are a bit high but that is expected for a chain. I lived in Halifax for 4 years complaining that there were no bubble tea places that were good. I had tried chatime in Toronto, Montreal and Waterloo and couldn't get enough of it. I would have never dreamt that the summer I am moving out of Halifax and come back to pack up my things Chatime is in Halifax!? How is this fair.. I must have gone everyday, then twice a week until I moved yesterday to Ottawa. I will miss it. My favourite is the plain milk tea with bubbles, then the hazelnut milk tea with pudding! The taro is actually usually a favourite but here it is gritty... maybe actual taro in it? So I didn't like. The grass jelly is fun. You really can't go wrong. They need air conditioning though and a baby friendly ramp to get in. Too many stairs not accessible, and it is a bit pricey but totally worth it. Better than any bubble tea I've ever had. read more

It may take a bit of waiting, but Chatime's bubble tea is the most authentic and tasty ones in metro. Well trained tea-bartender precisely mix every cup of tea to order and ensure the quality each time. Ingredients are fresh and the restaurant atmosphere is very nice. It doesn't matter if it's business meeting or romantic date, one can always find a quiet corner to themselves When you are spending the whole afternoon hanging out with friends at teashop, a bit of waiting for the drinks to be prepared really isn't that bad. Been here a few times, and each time was okay. The bubble tea itself is good (what you'd expect, basically), but it's pretty pricey. The sizes also don't reflect the prices well - if you get a regular, you'll drink it in a couple minutes. The large size is what you would expect a regular to be. The wait times can be rather long, depending on when you get there. Sometimes it can be twenty minutes or so, which just isn't worth it for what you get. I wouldn't recommend going if the line seems long. With all that said, I give it three stars because you can't really go wrong with bubble tea (their variety is solid, too) and the service is pleasant enough. If you haven't tried it and you're nearby, it doesn't hurt to check it out, but it's not a "must go" place. read more

Finally Chatime is here in Halifax! I have been craving for a perfect bubble tea place in Halifax for a long time already ever since I moved in here. In the Philippines, we have a lot of different bubble tea place so, I have tried multiple ones. I could say that this is one of the best ones! Although I prefer Gong Cha more, and hopefully that will come in next, here in Halifax! Their drinks are very delicious and tasty unlike others. I highly recommend Chocolate Mousse, it is definitely a must try! I really love it, however, it does not include any toppings yet, so you might want to add Pudding or Tapioca Pearls to go with it. Even so, it tastes good. Anyway, the service is not that great. A whole hour or more for ordering and waiting for your drinks to be ready. I think that they have a lot of staff but they are not used effectively. No team work, rather. Also, I have observed that drinks are being stuck up at the front even though it can be served already. Additionally, numbers are being called using Chinese language, which makes it hard for non-Chinese customers to understand if their orders are ready. Well maybe they are still trying to get used to their crowd, which makes sense since Chatime is really a popular one. Overall, it's still a thumbs up! read more

since 2014 first tasted in Toronto, I became a super fan of Chatime's product. I normally don't like sweet drinks, however, they offer customized sugar and choice of ice level. I tried Lychee Black Tea with 30% sugar and half ice in this location. taste as always. Also, I like their idea of play music video on the big LED screen. read more
