Everyone who works here is also super nice and very willing to lend a hand with recommendations or information on their inventory, wines, and more. I do wish they had more of a variety of wines on their menu to purchase by the bottle. Half of the wines on our tasting weren't available to purchase that night which was kind of a bummer. I definitely would have loved a bottle of the moscato but it was no longer available. All in all, I would love to go back and even take my husband to one of their Friday wine tastings!

This bookstore is a joy to browse. It is an uncommon used bookstore in that it has a great…read moreselection and it is not dusty, musty, or dirty like many are--their aisles and shelves are very clean and they seemed to have air filters running when I was first there (may have just been AC?). My allergies weren't bothered by sorting through books for an hour, like they usually are at other used bookstores. Their inventory is more non-fiction heavy, though they have a very nice fiction/literature room. The selection of historical non-fiction is fantastic, and I particularly had fun finding books on folklore and mythology from various parts of the world. They also have a large selection of cookbooks and art books. A very high number of "special" books in every section, when usually you have to search for just a few. The person curating the selection knows what he/she is doing. The owner or worker who was there during our last visit was not obtrusive and made us feel very comfortable browsing, even though my partner managed to accidentally knock down a display book.

This store is laid out pretty clearly. A big section of magazines. New and discounted books by the door. Customer service and a cafe on the right side near the magazines. Check-out is to the left as you enter. The childrens section is pretty big and had a lot of customers young and not as young reading in there. Books for all (childrens) ages from picture books to chapter books and graphic novels. I had a new author in mind and they had his books in stock. That was a pleasant surprise. On the way to check-out I saw an adorable Halloween book I thought a 9 month old I know might enjoy and added that to my pile. Parking is in a large, shared lot. I usually wouldn't post this but my group and i had SUCH an awful experience at barrington books…read moretoday it was awful: My group came in and this lady with brown hair yelled at us because we had drinks and didn't see the cart/sign, I understand that it was further down next to the shop but it wasn't right next to the door so we didn't see it. When we saw said this and apologized she rudely told us it was right there and proceeded to get close to us and asked us to leave, we had passed 2 other workers when we walked in and they hadn't said anything, we also saw an older lady with her grandchild and she had a drink. It felt like she was targeting us as we were the only people of color, she proceeded to follow us out and watch us through the window. She was also berating us while we were leaving. The issue isn't the drink policy but the way she went about it felt very aggressive, racist and hostile.
