The shop is two stories, nestled on Broadway, the arts and cultural heart of Newport. You can spend hours browsing among their wide selection, and there's something for everyone. In addition to the books, they also host weekly and monthly programming, spotlighting authors who travel to give live readings and workshops, and host storytime on weekday afternoons for families to enjoy together. I love the community engagement of Charter Books, and every visit makes you feel at home with their warm, friendly, and knowledgeable team. I do wish they had more of a variety of wines on their menu to purchase by the bottle. Half of the wines on our tasting weren't available to purchase that night which was kind of a bummer. I definitely would have loved a bottle of the moscato but it was no longer available. All in all, I would love to go back and even take my husband to one of their Friday wine tastings!

This store is laid out pretty clearly. A big section of magazines. New and discounted books by the door. Customer service and a cafe on the right side near the magazines. Check-out is to the left as you enter. The childrens section is pretty big and had a lot of customers young and not as young reading in there. Books for all (childrens) ages from picture books to chapter books and graphic novels. I had a new author in mind and they had his books in stock. That was a pleasant surprise. On the way to check-out I saw an adorable Halloween book I thought a 9 month old I know might enjoy and added that to my pile. Parking is in a large, shared lot.
