Bookstores certainly are back!! They had an incredibly long line this holiday season and could definitely have used a few additional employees manning registers. I will always love a bookstore and barnes and noble does a good job of making it feel cozy and inviting in there. I found a gift card to B&N from who knows when. . . birthday perhapa? My family knows I love my books. Came in to see what the balance on the card was and yay!, I get to do some shopping. This store is laid out pretty clearly. A big section of magazines. New and discounted books by the door. Customer service and a cafe on the right side near the magazines. Check-out is to the left as you enter. The childrens section is pretty big and had a lot of customers young and not as young reading in there. Books for all (childrens) ages from picture books to chapter books and graphic novels. I had a new author in mind and they had his books in stock. That was a pleasant surprise. On the way to check-out I saw an adorable Halloween book I thought a 9 month old I know might enjoy and added that to my pile. Parking is in a large, shared lot. Staff I encountered were helpful and very nice. Store is neat and has a large inventory. read more

Love this location. Since I was little I was always a book worm and I grew up on Barnes & Noble. This location is perfect for me to get too, the parking lot while shared with other companies it's big enough to park pretty much anywhere you like. So far every employee I've ran into has been helpful, kind, warmly greet you and genuinely try to help you. Books are so hard to choose especially when you go in not knowing what you want to read, but the workers here will for sure try to narrow that down and give suggestions. Which I appreciate so much. The last few times I've been here everyone is just so sweet and helpful. The bathroom is very clean as well. The section of books are great here, the kids section has chairs and activities, very cute set up. They also sell stationary stuff, and gifts which I appreciate. The prices of books have gone up tremendously but that's not the book stores fault but they keep the books in pretty mint condition and it appears they're very careful to keep books in the proper spots. The price points are great to me and they have a reward program, sign up if you haven't already it's free and you get rewards after spending so much money that you were going to spend anyways. They do have a cafe here, I haven't went yet. But plenty of seating all around in all different areas, nice quiet place to relax or get some work done. This is for sure my self care spot. read more

My family and came here for some books on Greek mythology and my kids were assisted very kindly by Katelyn and Emma. They helped him find the books he wanted and one of them was on sale so good books at a great value! We chatted with them and just had an amazing time! My husband loves to read, We stopped at this Barnes & Noble store in Warwick last week to check out some of the new paperbacks, gift items and magazines. I think many people today rely on electronic information and they don't stop at bookstores like they used to....but there's something about holding a book, a magazine or some stationary that makes the experience more memorable. Standard Barnes and Noble. Lots of books with promo sales. They were pushing very hard for sign up for their loyalty program. Way too much in fact. Despite saying no several times, while I was paying one of the young ladies behind the counter called my daughter out (while she was with my 2 year old grandson) in front of the other customers in line. She repeatedly kept saying, Can I ask you why not? You want to sign up... She needs to be spoken to by management. Unacceptable. read more

They couldnt even give the decency to schedule any interviews for a bookseller position or let applicants know that the position has been filled. This location is clearly rampant with nepotism with an inconsiderate lazy manager. They have no business treating applicants so poorly considering the insulting pay and expecting them to also work at starbucks, bullet dodged. read more

Ordered a book & when I went to pick it up, I was told they didn't have it. The store manager recognized they have training issues & did apologize. I will never return, at least not to that location. Things seemed to be out of control at this store, with open insults expressed to LGBTQ shoppers. I recently saw a customer in line yelling and shouting at another person, calling this person (possibly LGBTQ) "very weird", saying "look at you, no one wants anything to do with you". At least two or three staff and over a dozen customers stood by silently, not saying or doing anything as this took place. read more

My Yelp account is slowly but surely becoming a Barnes and Noble review account, but it's totally worth it, especially when I get to visit great locations like the one in Warwick, RI! First of all, it's gigantic, with plenty of seating in comfy chairs and also in the spacious cafe. They also have a wonderful selection of gifts in addition to the expected books and media. I love spending time going through the excellent collection of Funko Pop figurines, and even found the hard-to-find Little Shop of Horrors Audrey II figure here! Score! The staff is helpful and friendly, and they run a tight ship. Everything is very clean, including the bathrooms, which is often not the case at Barnes and Noble. I don't get out to Warwick often, but when I do, a trip to Barnes and Noble is always in order! read more

I forgot that there was still a bookstore that wasn't online. My lovely son and daughter-in-law bought me books for Christmas. They are just so thoughtful and knew just what I would like to the point where I already had one of the books that they chose. But I was thrilled to get books as a gift because it's always been one of my favorite gifts besides expensive jewelry. So I went here to exchange the book that I already owned and I was overwhelmed by the smell of books when I entered the store. I didn't realize how much I missed that. I am a retired reading teacher and books have been my passion for my whole life. I used to spend a lot of time browsing in bookstores and enjoying the ambience before online bookstores came into being. There is really nothing like being in the presence of so many books and having so many wonderful choices. I am going to start making this store a regular part of my routine as soon as this pandemic is over. Although I felt safe in the store I really don't feel safe anywhere there are people. They do their best to make me feel safe but it's me. So I have this to look forward to along with many other things after the pandemic and I am just so grateful that I have books again in my life because they are precious. read more

Kate the assistant store manager should not be allowed to speak with customers in my opinion. She is better suited for a non customer-facing position. She is condescending, cold and rude. I purchased multiple items on your website and some at the Warwick store for my son's birthday. I misplaced the multiple receipts and was told I would receive the lowest possible price for my purchases by the associate. While I wasn't happy about this, I understood and accepted that as it's my fault I misplaced the receipt in the 1st place. Kate was asked to sign off of my exchange (they wouldn't allow me to have store credit) despite these items being wrapped in original packaging and with Barnes and Noble price tags on them (obviously a Barnes and Noble purchase) Kate proceeded to tell me that she would not allow me to exchange my merchandise because the Warwick store hadn't sold a particular piece of merchandise in the last however many months she stated. I mentioned that I had purchased that particular piece of merchandise on-line. She was essentially insinuating that these items had been stolen which is beyond disgusting. I have shopped at B&N for close to 20 years and have never had such rotten treatment in my life. She didn't bother to even check the other 3 items I had purchased (2 from her store) Kate pushed my purchases back across the counter in my direction and stated she refused to return any of them. This is hands down the worst customer service experience of my life and quite embarrassing for me. I will never shop there ever again because of Kate's cold, disgusting attitude towards a very loyal B&N customer. She needs some sort of ettiquite / professionalism training in the worst way. Barnes and Noble should be embarrassed that they have an employee like her employed. Mind you, I've been shopping here so long I remember when Kate worked in your Smithfield store (however many years it has been since there) She was cold and bitter then also. read more

Wow, it has been a long time since I've come to this Barnes and Noble and boy has it changed. I grew up in Rhode Island and so coming to Barnes and Noble used to be my Asian parents way of treating my brother and I to a night out of the house. I think I may have spent two to three hours here on a Friday night just reading magazines, getting lost in the books, etc. I haven't lived in RI since I was 18 so I don't come here as often as I use to. When I stepped in here last night, I was quite sad that it has been commercialized to look like a mini Apple store. In the center of the store is a huge TV that plays the Grinch and the store is set up so that the shining lights and glossy screens makes you want to go and play with each Nook device there is. At the right of the store, is a very well-organized set up of stationary and Vera Bradley gift ware. Then at the back of the store, is a very well thought out display of toys for the kids. There is even a lego center for kids to sneeze all over and spread the next Swine flu. I miss the bookstore feel. I don't think I'll come back here but it is amazing to see how a bookstore can modernize itself. read more

Typical B&N. They follow the big-box formula of laying out every store the same way. Ahhh, familiarity. Sure, I prefer the locally owned book purveyor but it was convenient and near other places that I had to go to. It had just what I was looking for. Parking was a snap. Friendly service. Clean. Hey, they even had some high school kids wrapping presents in return for a donation to the local animal shelter. Nice! read more

Pretty normal for a chain bookstore. There's not a ton of seating except in the cafe, which is a bummer for people like me who go to read. Tends to be pricey but the coffee is delicious. Normally I love grabbing a book and coffee and sitting to read! However, the woman who rang me out was probably the most rude cashier I've ever met. She put my receipt in the bag and just left it on the counter, handles facing away from me, the stood back and just looked at me. No smile, thank you, have a good night, or even the courtesy of passing me the bag. Just a cold stare. The manager should definitely revisit their older cashiers and remind them how to be polite. read more

I think I've finally stopped pretending that I come here for the books. In full disclusure: I come because I love their cafe! Whether I'm dieting or stuffing my face, or even when I have just come from the dentist, I can always find something good to eat and drink. It is not actually a Starbucks coffe shop, but they DO brew only Starbucks coffees and teas. The chili is great, so is their soup. I love their sandwiches and I love their behind the glass case treats -- many of which are from The Cheesecake Factory, and some also from Starbucks, I believe. The behind the counter staff are ALWAYS nice, friendly, have genuine smiles on their face, and will bring whatever you order to your table if it's not ready while you're at the counter. There are fast food restaurants close by - really close by -- but I come here instead when I'm hungry and on Bald Hill Road! Everything is really good, they have WiFi and no one seems to care If you peruse books and magazines while you dine. You can even purchase them (!) if you wish, at the counter, instead of waiting in line at the front of the store. The book selection, of course, is beyond excellent and they sell current magazines on every possible subject you could imagine and possibly some that you could not even imagine. :-) I come here a lot but only remembered this morning that I should. I went to Barnes and Noble in Warwick because I could not get my nook tablet to work. I dealt with Derrick who was so helpful and within 20 minutes he had the nook working. While he was in the back downloading the new software another associate came by to see if I needed help. The staff there is great and very helpful and friendly. Wow what a difference compared to Best Buy. I hope you never close. read more

For a big box book store, I like it! but I love that there is a Starbucks cafe! Big cozy chairs to sit in and look at books and magazines. They seem to have a lot of different events going on. Last night they had what looked like to be a middle school or high school band playing holiday music. The events schedule looks great for those with little ones that enjoy story time. They now have a toy department which in my opinion is overpriced. The toys offered are somewhat more high-end and it can be a good place to pick up a last minute gift, or the chance to find something you might not have thought of (especially if you're not one to be buying children's toys). Good selection of educational games and activities as well. read more

If you have been to one Barnes & Noble, you know the deal. Large bookstore, comfy chairs, huge periodical section and a Starbucks. This particular B&N is always super clean and tidy. It is not usually too crowded. The Starbucks is great too. The staff here really makes this place stand out. If you need help, they will jump in and find what you need or order it. They also make suggestions based on what you like. During the holidays, the man working in the Nook section was super helpful, but not pushy. read more

This review is directed towards the cafe portion of the store. On average, I would visit this cafe about 2 or 3 times a week. I'd always order a large latte, then I would study and work on projects for grad school. The employees should have recognized me with my frequent business, at least, I recognized them. I was there again one busy Saturday before Christmas. Noticing that there was only one free table, I made sure to grab it right away. I sat down and began working while waiting for the line to die down. I didn't want to leave my personal things unattended while waiting in line for a coffee. I got a little distracted with my work and had probably been there for about a half hour when an employee walked up to me and asked me to please leave as "they were very busy and the tables were for Barnes and noble patrons only." I'm sorry, but I visit this store three times a week, that doesn't make me a patron? You're choosing to be extremely rude to a regular customer to make room for holiday shoppers who frequent the store at most once or twice a year? Glad to hear your priorities are in the right place. Needless to say I will never visit that cafe again, and will send my business elsewhere. I'm encouraging everyone I know to do the same. read more

My favorite store. Theres always a wide selection of books. Its never really noisy and it always smells of new books. The workers are always glad to help me find what I'm looking for. The only reason I went there was because I had a gift card from Christmas to use (I almost always buy my books from Amazon). If I had known ahead of time that the selection there was somewhat spotty I would have just used it on their website instead. Since I didn't have anything specific that I was looking for, I spent a little more than an hour trying to find enough things I'd actually want to read that would use up the $20 on the card. In particular, the problem that I found was they had books #2 and/or #3 of some series, but not the first. Not good. Now I know better than to go there. read more
