I was blown away when I stopped in at the selection of not only Trollbeads (more on that) but interesting items. There was a huge assortment of antiques, new crafts, cards, books, vintage furnishings - you name it, I think they may have carried it! But, back to the beads - Karen came over and she was just incredible. She clearly knows her Trollbeads and a total newbie like me learned so much from her probably less than an hour, it was amazing. Not to mention the huge selection. And, the really affordable prices on many beads that you just won't find anymore. I found Karen to be so helpful and charming and honest. It was a really nice customer experience and I highly recommend visiting Twice Told Tales for anyone in the area. Plus, the downtown is really nice with an assortment of quirky stores and restaurants (and plenty of parking). It really is a hidden gem!

First, I love that they have free non perishable goods outside for people to help themselves as they need it. The shop inside is very cute, they have a diverse selection of books inside a cozy space. I liked how it was organized, enjoyed featuring of local artists work, including cards and bookmarks. Prices were what you can expect from a smaller book store, nothing incredibly expensive and overall a good deal. They also had a pile of books by the door that were completely free, which I thought was a great idea. Definitely a great place to stop by if you're looking for a new read!

They've carefully curating a wide variety of stories, accumulated so many sweet little goodies & knick knacks, & built a wonderful, irreplaceable community in Providence. They put a LOT of effort into highlighting BIPOC & queer authors in their collection. The range of genres & narratives - especially considering the tiny size of the store - is a masterclass in diverse inventory. The very best thing about Heartleaf, though, is the manager. She alone is worth a visit to the store. If she's napping, it's a cardinal sin to disturb her. You'll just have to come back another time to give her a scratch behind the ears. (Penny is the manager. I always love checking out how book stores setup their front tables and what types of books they are recommending. They have a few cafe tables out front if you visit during nice weather. This one had a super friendly and helpful staff, was well organized and even has used and sale book sections. I was looking for a theme book for my year-long Vision/Dream Board class that I teach and the selection of children's books was small but high quality. (Yes, being a former teacher I use children's books for adult themed classes!) I think it is imperative to support independent and local bookstores and always buy at least one book. I prefer to not get a book in my personal list but instead read the staff pics and see what is out that I haven't heard of. This time was no exception and I purchased a short story and an old favorite that I have given away and want to read again. And getting one of them used was a great value and didn't max my book budget out! If you like bookstores this one is not to miss!

I wandered around for hours, reading and enjoying some of the artwork in the small gallery while having a few cocktails. Service was okay and the bartenders were kind. The drinks they made were fine and some were very good, but one of the more memorable cocktails was the Manhattan Transfer, which was very strong and pleasant. I also liked The Hive. It was light, citrusy and just simple. My friends and I were surprised that everything was so reasonably priced that we ended up trying all the cocktails on the menu and a few local beers. We ended the night by picking up a few books to take back home :)

You can curl up and read a book there if you want! They also offer blind book dates - the books are wrapped and labeled with the genre with some fun goodies that come with them. The owner hosts some cool events, I haven't been to one yet but really looking forward to attending one soon.

I was extremely satisfied with the planner sticker section. Some of those stickers are $15-$20 per booklet and these were 2$ each.... Granted most had a few stickers missing... nonetheless a great deal. They had a card section for all occasions and my only complaint is that the cards were rather thin!!! I also liked the washi tape section -- many floral options and they even had sets available (maybe included in pictures). There is only 1 entrance despite many doors to the outside and it is a little musty inside ... but I expect that from a used bookstore. Large children's book section and large Christian book section... and then just about everything else can be found here as well. Parking is adjacent to the building and had a handful of spots available for patrons and then hardcovers are often less than 5$ in this store. I will definitely be back! Thank you!
