I am in love with this bookstore. If you are an avid reader/book lover. You need to check this place out. It reminds me of old school bookstore/library. The coffee shop is a plus. Very friendly staff. The old school architecture with a modern feel. The fairy doors, the kid section with story time and the mushroom stools for the kids. I could go on and on. I spent a lot of time here, the other day. The prices are standard. I will be back. One word I am obsessed!

I mean literally a spot that bookstore dreams are made of! We were in Westerly and I knew I had to stop in. This place is amazing. You really just want to grab a book and cozy up for the day. I was too stuffed from lunch, so I didn't try the cafe, but looking at the menu they seemed to have a great variety. The bookstore was easy to follow and I was able to find multiple books that I was looking for. The kids section down stars is adorable and such a fun spot for kids to explore. I will certainly be back the next time I am in the area!

A matcha latte, cranberry-orange scone and books? Yes please. This coffee-house-book-store is like an old school library and cafe all mixed into one. The decor is warm and inviting, with great drinks and pastries. Tables and chairs are spread throughout for one to sit and read or bring a laptop and work for a while. The antique decor makes me think of a something between Out of Africa meets A Moveable Feast - which those novels are also have here should you so desire a classic to fit the ambiance.

Stumbled across this bookstore on our way to dinner. Owner was pleasant to talk to. Plenty of books…read moreto choose from. Only wish I had more time to browse the shelves. I will return to do so!

Came in for a quick look to check out children's books with our toddler. Picked out two books and…read morewere looking for more in another part of the store. I picked up a few books and the owner came and said she was holding a book for someone, with the stack of books I was looking through. How convenient right? The owner just stood there, making us feel extremely uncomfortable. I had to grab the book out of my toddler's hand and set it down on the pile of books. We wanted to get out of there fast. As we were leaving, the owner decided she wanted to be friendly and offer the same kid's book she was "holding for somebody" for free because it was our first time. Although we had every intention to purchase books, we declined and left the store with the feeling of being RACIALLY PROFILED. My family and I are from out of town, of asian and spanish descent. We left the cramped store with our morals in tact. My child does not need to experience racism at such a young age. DO NOT VISIT THIS BOOKSTORE!! The audacity of an elderly adult to force a child to abandon books they had searched for and found, is completely asinine. The fact she felt guilty and ashamed of her behavior by offering one of the books she was supposedly holding for someone is unbelievably embarrassing on her part. If there were books being held, you would think to leave it on the side by the register instead of in a random messy pile that shoppers look through that is literally the entire bookstore. We had just paid a visit to the book store down the street and easily spent money on brand new books and received this type of treatment at this establishment is absurd.

Charlestown might not be the first place you think of when "amazing shopping destinations" pop into…read moreyour mind, but listen close, because Books on the Pond is here to change all of that! This adorable little bookshop gives a new meaning to the phrase "shop small" - it's one simple, gorgeously designed, and meticulously curated room full of some of the best titles for kids, teens, and young adults. However, what the space lacks in vastness, it makes up for in charm and heart. We visited here tonight because my boyfriend, who is a horror author, did a reading of some of his spooky short stories for Halloween. The event was wonderful, complete with a generous array of snacks, cozy seating, and twisted tales told by candlelight. This is the first of many of these events, which will not only include local author readings, but also book discussion groups and writing workshops. The owner, Alexandra, is super friendly and dedicated to sharing her love of literature with the community and beyond, and if you're a bibliophile, you'll find yourself at home in this bookish haven of her creation! While this was my first visit, I can safely say that Books on the Pond is now going to be a wonderful excuse to visit this part of Rhode Island more often! They have a wonderful outdoor area with a fire pit, which was unusable tonight due to inclement weather (sad trombone), but I am excited to come back another night to enjoy reading under the stars by the warmth of the fire! If you're looking for a fabulously unique shop that's truly off the beaten path, Books on the Pond is the place to go!
