    Save Your Back Moving

    (10 reviews)

I am not one to leave reviews, but I am extremely dissatisfied with Save Your Back Moving LLC…read more I was moving to the New Lenox area so my wife and I thought it would be great to find a small business moving company out of the area to support. We were quoted 5-6 Hours - 4 Crew - 1 Truck. (2- bedroom 1800 SQFT Townhome) (assured 1 truck would cover everything) (This was to get everything out and into the new home) Move ended up taking roughly 12 hours Due to the below errors of Save your back. Owner "Josh" came to the house to physically quote /Visually see what was in the house and see all that was going to be moved. NOTHING was added to the original request - It was well delivered that EVERYTHING must be moved out. We had a same day closing and we did notify Save Your Back they would need to arrive by 8AM latest and out by Noon. (We were told this would not be a problem). Movers arrived roughly 30 minutes late and began work, as we got closer to Noon, I mentioned to the lead mover we were cutting it close on time and would need to be out by 12pm, I was told no problem they would be done in the next 45 mins. No less than 15 mins later the same mover came to me and said there is not enough space in the truck and there was nothing they could do unless "we" went to Home Depot or Menards and rented a truck, and they would fill it for us. (I thought this was an outrageous thing to tell your clients since you are a "moving company" ....) Clearly at this point it was beyond obvious Save your Back team came unprepared/evaluated incorrectly. (Didn't bring a large enough/additional truck due to a poor evaluation by the owner Josh when he came for the quote). Due to poor evaluation, I let the lead mover know I would be calling their office to let them know our issue since he wanted me to go rent a truck from Home Depot. A light bulb must have clicked in the lead movers head once I mentioned this to call his boss for a resolution. Spoke with Griffin (sales guy answering their customer move in progress lines) he let me know they had a truck coming but it would be at minimum an hour until it got there due to the truck being filled with (Junk) that had to be emptied before it could arrive. (This was at about 10:45AM - Truck never showed until 12:30PM) They were going to charge me for the truck as well but eventually realized I should not be paying for the additional truck due to their poor quoting/evaluation process. (Still charged me for the hours it took but just not the $59 dispatch fee-Laughable). By the time they had gotten out of the townhome it was roughly 1:30PM. (We were supposed to close at 12:30PM and ended up not closing until well after 2PM due to these issues) Once movers got to the new home they did have to sit and wait roughly 2 hours until we could close and get into the house to finish the job. (I took responsibility here and did not ask for reimbursement on this part, even though I probably should have as it was a trickling effect of their evaluation error) There was roughly a 2 1/2 -3 Hour period where movers were waiting for the additional truck to arrive/ pack the truck. I did not believe I should be responsible for the 3-hour charge here due to their poor planning/ poor evaluation. If they showed up prepared/did their evaluation correctly we would have never been in this scenario. Save your Back disagreed here and would not cover the 3 hours for their errors. On top of that mess, they did not wrap all our furniture as they said they would, which caused damage to specifically 2 pieces (Large tv stand and Sofa). They also put a handful of dents/scratches/marks on my new home's walls/staircase/front room/loft. I eventually was able to speak to Mark (Founder/Owner) after speaking with (Owner) Josh who told me I would have to put it up with Mark and acted like he had no idea what was going on. Mark said he would have to "Speak with the crew and do an investigation" This took over 24 hours to do. I Was shocked to receive a call back from Mark where he basically told me to kick rocks and all they would reimburse is 15 minutes of time and he would come himself and patch holes. I asked Mark if that is how Save Your Back LLC treats their customers by not taking responsibility and charging their customers for their poor planning/ errors? He became quiet on the phone and began to tell me to have a nice day and hung up. As a smaller moving company, you would think reputation and customer satisfaction would be a priority for them, clearly it is not. These guys do not know how to do business with anyone yet their own community. All they see is dollar signs. They will suck you in with a too good to be true quote and hammer you for over 100% of given quote owning no responsibility for their employees/companies' errors. Instead of saving your back you should SAVE YOUR ASS and go with a different moving company.

Please do not use these movers under any circumstances. It just kept getting worse…read more We were quoted $880 for 3 guys, 4 hours, and 3 stops. Sounded great but heads up, the initial estimate did not include travel time so they tacked on another hour. It took them 2 1/2 hours to load two dressers, a mattress, a desk, and three chairs into the truck at the first stop. They wrapped the furniture, but it was still scuffed up. By 1:30, we were not even 1/3 done. They did send over two additional men after I called and said I wanted to stop the move. We ended up with 5 movers and 8 1/2 hours to move an 1100 sq ft home. Afterwards, we found my recliner still disassembled, my metal box spring completely bent, and my sofa sleeper had a leg ripped out of it. I have had several calls with the owner, and while they were able to fix my couch and reassemble my recliner, the only concessions he made was to not charge me for the extra people or time. I am still waiting to determine what he will do for my broken box spring. I really would have appreciated a discount for what we went through. We ended up taking all the boxes and small furniture in our own cars. I have no idea what the time would have been or how much more damage they could have caused.

Eric and Dan who came to do the service of moving some very heavy furniture and other items up down the stairs were awesome. They were so nice and polite and did a great job. Positives - I got an early appointment slot when other companies couldn't, the movers were polite…read moreand did arrive ~15 minutes after calling to correct the address Negatives - Appointment window changed online with no notice; late arrival due to wrong address - Poor communication from office/management; repeated calls required - Crew appeared unprepared to handle the treadmill despite it being disclosed upfront - Significant wasted time waiting for guidance/additional help; unclear billing expectations - Manager canceled the job mid-move after items were already loaded/unloaded - Furniture left disassembled (bunk bed), screws missing, items left in different locations - Felt rushed during booking (pressure to pay deposit quickly) I booked College Hunks in Orland Park because they had the earliest available slot and I wanted to get the move done early. I called earlier in the day on Friday, compared quotes with a few companies, and clearly explained the job: moving one bunk bed, one dresser, and one treadmill a little under 20 miles from a townhome to a home. My appointment window was originally Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM. At 9:15, no one had arrived, and when I checked the booking link the window had changed to 9:30-10:30 without any communication. I called immediately, and at 9:21 one of the movers called to say they had gone to the wrong address and would be there in 15 minutes. They did arrive about 15 minutes later, and the job "start time" ended up being about 9:45 (which was reflected on the reservation tracker). Right away, the movers were concerned about the treadmill. I called the office to figure out how they planned to handle it and was told a manager would call me. No manager called, and instead a third person was sent out--which was fine--but I did not want to be charged for the ~35 minutes the crew was sitting and waiting for help. I called again and was told I'd be billed appropriately at delivery and that a manager would call "when they had a chance." At 10:35, 50 minutes into the start of the job, I received a call from one of the movers informing me that they were halfway complete and going to exceed the quoted time. He was unable to tell me how long that would take, and told me I would need to wait for a call from management to provide a new quote. Eventually a manager (Tim) called and said they couldn't take apart the treadmill because of wiring concerns, even though the crew had already started. When I asked what my options were, he suggested I pay another company to disassemble it and then pay College Hunks to come back, which made no sense. By this point, they had been on site for over an hour and I was told they had barely done anything--which wasn't true, because they had fully disassembled the bunk bed (see photos) Tim then canceled the entire job while items were still on the truck, and the crew unloaded everything into the garage, not where the items originally were. Screws were missing, furniture was left partially removed from the home. Tim refused to take my calls afterward, and the corporate line was not helpful beyond saying a manager would eventually get back to me. While I was refunded the fee, that doesn't fix the disruption and the mess left behind. The movers themselves were polite, but the overall professionalism, communication, and job assessment were extremely poor. I also felt rushed during booking--they told me I had only five minutes to use the link to pay the $50 deposit, which should have been a red flag. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. If you use them, expect major delays, unclear/changed time windows, and the possibility they may not complete the job even after disassembling your furniture.

Update #2: Lol, that is how you respond? I guess I shouldn't…read morebe surprised! Considering you can't seem to handle an honest review. Which is evident by the way you've responded to other negative reviews. I am openly gay and clearly you're a homophobe. Thank you for letting the world know via your response. I'm sorry if me being gay made Frank and his coworker feel uncomfortable. They probably should have said so immediately and not have taken so much time to complete the job or offer to help move boxes around when they noticed there was still some time left. They both also lingered after to converse with me, both of them shook my hand and asked me to keep them in mind for future moves. Clearly, no one was flirting with anyone and no one felt uncomfortable. Joe, you just don't know how to act professionally. Update: After a rude message from their manager, Joe, implying the damage to the stuff they moved was possibly my fault, I have to lower their star rating. It's not as if I was requesting compensation for the damage, I just wanted to leave an honest review and still he felt the need to act combatively. When the first moving company I hired failed to confirm their services 48 hours before the move date I was forced to call around to find another company who could do the job on short notice. Well Move You 4 Less stepped up and they even showed up 30 minutes early. Which I appreciated because I wasn't forced to wait around. However, I can't honestly say that all of my belongings made it to my new place in one piece. Some items were damaged and because of that I cannot, in good conscience, leave them 5 stars. They were professional and worked quickly.
