Got this at a steal! Duty free
Karen H.

I usually don't stop into duty free stores but something told me to check it out. I was on the lookout for a Fjallraven backpack for my sister. She's been wanting one and I saw a few in town but it was over a $100. I gave up on it. But while waiting for Starbucks, I wandered in curious to see if they carried this backup here. To my surprise they had a dedicated section with all the bags in different sizes and colors I haven't see around. Like bright yellow and mustard yellow along with different shades of blues. I went with light grey since she will be using it for work. It was only $95! Plus no tax and with Canadian to dollar exchange rate it worked out better buying it here! Super excited to give it to my sister for her birthday. It was a great deal! I will need to check out duty free stores more often. Depending on the items it can be a great deal!

Located in the airport, right after security check, this is the place for your last minute souvenir purchase. They have an assortment of snacks, like the nougats, cookies, and salmon.

What is a guy to take home for family members at the tail end of a Canada trip? Alcohol, of course! Just past the US Customs pre-inspection area, sits this duty-free store. Their most abundantly stocked item is alcohol, both hard liquor and wine bottles. I asked them if they had any Baileys, as my buddy had just given me a recipe for a new shot. Unfortunately, they had just sold out of that. I perused some wine and other hard liquor, and decided to buy two of each. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store was clean and well organized. The check out was painless. If you're headed into the US from Vancouver, give this place a try.

"Duty free" $17 more than retail!

No tax shopping [Surrey, BC Canada]…read more On our way back to Washington we hung a Roger and did some shopping at the Duty Free shop in Surrey. This was a fairly big store compared to the one in Toronto. This store had plenty of souvenirs but they were pricy even with the Canadian dollar. Sections of fragrance and cosmetic products, watches, purses... then the huge area of alcohol, wine and spirits! We bought Icewine for gifting. We came across the chocolate, sweets, biscuits, chewing gum, gummy bears, maple syrup, tea, Canadian tea. We started our Christmas shopping LoL! The U.S. Customs Border Patrol did ask us if we did some shopping and what kinds of things we purchased which was mostly wine and chocolates. Travelers are allowed to bring up to $800 worth of merchandise back to the U.S. without having to pay taxes Exchange Rate 11/29/24: $1 USD = $1.40 CAD Review #3610

The store wasn't busy. I looked around freely and I haven't noticed any employee glued to me. I didn't care about the other products because I find it overly priced. I reached the area where the souvenir items are. I took my time in deciding what to buy. I paid what I wanted and I find the prices not bad.

You would think that a store that sells liquor worth hundreds of dollars, luxury cosmetics,…read moreimported chocolates and assorted tschotkes would be able to stock their restrooms with toilet seat covers and not use the world's cheapest, thinnest toilet paper. Make I suggest you stop at gas stations or a fast food outlets prior to reaching the border crossing if the urge to use a restroom happens. Customer service at West Coast Duty Free is excellent. Everyone was friendly without being intrusive. Not all prices are posted. Most chocolates have individual price labels on them. The State of Washington has high liquor taxes. Example: A $45.00 750 ml bottle of whiskey has a 20.5% alcohol tax ($9.22) plus a $3.7708/liter tax making the total cost equal to $57.05...something for residents to keep in mind. Know the current exchange rate and use a currency converter app to figure your cost in dollars. When you leave, look carefully for the duty free entrance back into the RV/passenger car line. You need to cross the Nexus lanes to reach it.

The West Coast Duty Free Shop offers a good line of products such as liquor, jewellry, watches, Swiss Army knives, sunglasses, fragrances, cosmetics, apparel, snacks, candy, food, souvenirs, books, gifts, and more. This store stocks merchandise for the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympics including shirts, glasses, mugs, plush toys, postcards & other items. I stopped here on my way back to the US and got some of my favourite Maple Cream Cookies, Maple Syrup, and some cool Olympic postcards. Some good deals here! Plenty of parking and restrooms on site. Just tell the cashier your LICENSE PLATE NUMBER, which goes on the receipt. Upon driving off the parking lot, there may be a staff member checking receipts upon exit towards southbound only.
