I pass by so often I finally got the chance to try them out. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheese bagel. Bagel was SPICY! Not extremely but enough to tingle ur lips and tongue. weeee. It was pretty good. Not the best but good. If u need a good tingle on ur tongue I suggest their bagel. I also asked for orange juice thinking it was fresh squeezed for some reason-- all night brain I tell ya. It was from a bottle. And not the good kind. I didn't even finish it. They def pulled one over my head just pouring bottled orange juice into plastic cups. I was bamboozled !! Donut holes and all donuts are a pale yellow. They look underbaked. The donut holes were very chewy and doughy. I would've preferred a more crispy baked donut hole. More color to it for sure. Just leave them to bake/fry a bit longer. It's okay. They'll be okay. Review #946 2026-010…read more Donuts Order: 20 Donuts (includes Buttermilk, Old Fashioned, Raspberry Jelly, Vanilla Frosted with Sprinkles, Cream Puff, etc.) + 7 Donut Holes; TooGoodToGo Surprise Bag: $6.62 ($5.99 + sales tax) I've been to Doughboy Donuts & Bagel a handful of times since I moved to the South Bay about 2 decades ago. In the earlier days, the donut shop was supposedly opened 24/7 (at least the hours were posted so on Yelp) but I never had a middle of the night/morning run. Since then, I may stop by afterwards when I'm at the plaza for lunch at Katsu Bar (refer to Review #891) or boba at Sharetea (refer to Review #393). Doughboy Donuts & Bagel is not quite the standard mom & pop donut shop since they also have a smoothies & breakfast menu that includes bagels, croissant sandwiches, & breakfast burritos. The shop is on the north end of Jade Plaza, off the busy corner of Crenshaw & Lomita Blvds., across from Torrance Crossroads. The service is iffy at best... not knowing if I'm welcomed with a warm smile or the feeling of "what do you want" as if I'm a bother. Yikes! I find myself returning more since I joined the TooGoodToGo movement of food waste in 06/2025. TGTG offer 2 options at Doughboy Donuts & Bagel: $3.99 or $5.99 Surprise Bag with a 10-hr. pick-up window between 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM. DD&B has largest pick-up window, & the boxes are usually ready at the time of redemption. My daughter was hanging out with her friends at the local bowling alley (kinda belated birthday & summer hangout), & I didn't want to serve cake so this TGTG surprise bag was the perfect sweet treat to accompany the other snacks served. This was my 6th TGTG & 2nd donut shop. Since I picked them up late afternoon, I'm guessing TGTG surprise bag was either leftovers from yesterday or/or this morning's breakfast rush (hours are from 3:00 AM - 10:00 PM); I stopped in at 10:30 AM. I informed the server that I'm doing a TGTG pick-up & she sorta shouted "how many" (I'm guessing some people order more than 1 bag?); I reached over the counter so she could see my phone showing a $6.99 surprise bag & swiped for redemption. I saw her assemble that ubiquitous pink box & went back to fill it. In the meantime, I walked around & took some pics, particularly the menu (so I don't get sticker shock on future visits); the going rate is $1.85/donut but it doesn't mention the fancies, cronuts, etc. which I'm fairly certain has a higher price point. The older lady was quite rude when she came out with my box, shouting at me for taking pics. Ehhh... hello... are you not aware that you have a Yelp business page which is claimed by someone at Doughboy Donuts & Bagel. While she didn't threaten to withhold my paid TGTG box, her body language basically said "delete the pics or else." I didn't have time so I showed her I deleted the pics, then she handed over my box. ＼(｀0´)／ I got 20 donuts & 7 donut holes, about 4.5-lbs. worth: I weighed it when I got home. Yes I supposedly deleted the pics, but they were sitting in the trash so I retrieve them & posted. DD&B might have an issue with their customers taking & posting pics since the last ones I could find were a year ago. O_o Normally, a dozen donuts is $17.99, & TGTG's estimated value was $18.00, given that I received 20 donuts & 7 donut holes, I definitely got my money's worth! Even after that eventful pick-up, I returned again because I wanted to have some summer treats for my friend's summer BBQ party & tell her about TGTG & its partners. I dropped in closer to the TGTG closing window, & had the easiest pick-up with a friendly younger lady. I was in & out in a min. & left the car running with my fam in the car... it was that fast! I forgot to snap a pic, but I do remember it being equally heavy as the 1st & with more variety, including my fav: cinnamon roll. DD&B has a large variety of donuts & competitive prices in line with the area. They're fresh, though not fresh, hot like Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee down the street. I like Doughboy Donuts & Bagels, but wouldn't go out of my way for them, particularly when I'm playing Russian Roulette (not quite... but just for the randomness of service) with the server/cashier. If it's a regular visit, not TGTG, I would turn around & head out if I see that older lady behind the counter. Recommended: Cinnamon Roll, Cinnamon Crumb, Apple Fritter, Cronut, Cruller, Cream Puff, Jelly.

The donuts are always fresh, soft, and made exactly the way you hope a neighborhood donut shop would make them. I'd honestly put them up there with some of the best donuts in the area. My personal favorite is the glazed twist. There's something about how light and airy it is that makes it stand out from everywhere else. It has that perfect texture where it almost melts in your mouth with every bite, without ever feeling too heavy or overpowering. Pair it with a fresh coffee in the morning and it's hard to beat. I've noticed some people complaining about the credit card processing fee, but personally, I think supporting small businesses means understanding the realities of running one. Places like this aren't giant chains with massive corporate margins, they're LOCAL spots that have been serving the community for years and doing it well. If a small processing fee helps them continue making great food, and staying afloat in an increasingly expensive market, that feels like a fair trade-off to me. I'd much rather support a family-run shop like this than see places with real character disappear. If you don't like the fee, you can simply pay with cash next time.

I wanted to see what else is in the area with a similar pick-up window & found Circus Donuts. It didn't quite fit my intended schedule, but it was close enough to home with a slight detour of a mile, & cheap enough for the purchase. It had a decent, convenient pick-up window from 6:00 AM - 10:30 AM (some places only have a 15 - 30 min. window); I stopped by after dropping off my son at school. Circus Donuts sit west of McDonald's with a red & white striped circus awning. The donut shop has 3 entrances: main (faces Denker St.), side (faces Carson St.; door is locked), & back (entering from the parking lot). Considering the size of the donut shop, there's lots of parking real estate. At 9:00 AM, the lot was dirty with litter & discarded lotto scratchers. O_o Walking in from the main entrance, there's a large display case holding 2-1/2 rows of donuts (10 trays) & not all trays are full. They've been open since 5:00 AM... maybe the morning crowd bought a lot of donuts? There's no bell that signaled my entrance but the door cracked when pushed, & I heard a voice from the back shouted "welcome, I'll be right with you." A petite Asian woman popped out while I was browsing their goods; I informed her that I have a TGTG app pick-up & showed her my phone as I showed their business page & swiped for my redemption. She went back & gave me a medium pink box (typical of most mom & pop donut shops) with some heft to it (~4-lbs. worth). I snapped 1 more pic (lotto scratcher vending machine & ATM) on my way out through the back door. There seems be regulars at this donut shop, particularly for their love of the lotto; a middle aged male & a couple were at the tables trying their luck. I was pretty impressed with the variety of regular donuts... I got 12 different ones with a handful of donut holes. It included a Cinnamon Roll (my fav!) & Bear Claw that's bigger than my palm, & I have pretty large hands. The Cinnamon Roll tasted fresh enough, & it was still somewhat soft. The Bear Claw was the freshest of the bunch with a good dollop of cinnamony, sweet-tart apple filling in the yeast donut, along with Buttermilk, Glazed, Glazed Twist, Old Fashioned, Sugar. The frosted ones & donut holes were on the harder side, definitely day old (possibly more? particularly the donut holes). I paid $4.38 for this TGTG surprise bag valued at $12.00, & received 12 donuts with 9 donut holes that's worth $23.50, excluding the donut holes because the price (possibly 20¢ or 25¢) isn't on the menu. Even if it's based on their price of $17.50 for a regular dozen, you're getting 3x (337.50%) the cost; if you count it individually at $25.75 (donut holes at 25¢/ea.), it's an even better value at 5x (543.75%). Wow... definitely getting the bang for my buck here! Though we infrequently visit the McDonald's next door, I rarely head east of Eastern Ave. so I'm not sure if I'll be returning. But for all you donut lovers out there &/or TGTG patrons, Circus Donuts has a good selection of tasty donuts at comparable prices, & a definite value to TGTG app users! Recommended: Cinnamon Roll, Bear Claw, Buttermilk, Old Fashioned, Glazed, Glazed Twist, Strawberry Cake, Sugar, Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Frosted, Chocolate Coconut, Vanilla Frosted with Sprinkles.
