They teach a little 1 hour lesson from 8:30 to 9:30 and then open up the dance floor until 2 AM. You can learn some basic steps to get your started but don't expect to know Salsa after one mini lesson. :) As a follow, it was enough to just have a good time that night. The later you come, the more veteran and experienced dancers you'll meet. Many beginners come dance for the first hour or so and then leave. On Saturdays, the Bachata room is also open down the hall. A much smaller room but that's enough. The entrance fee of $20 gets you into both rooms. (Intro lesson is $5 extra). It's great being able to go back & forth between the rooms. There is a bar that you can buy drinks. You are allowed to bring your own water bottles but you have to leave it up at the front entrance because they don't allow you to bring your own bottles in due to the bar. Sometimes they even have performances from dance groups on Saturday nights. They also have practice sessions on weeknights that you can join and check out. With what little dance experience I've had over the last 2 months, Century definitely feels like "the place to be" if you want to dance the night away. Because of that though, Saturday Socials feels more like a show/a place to show off rather than a place to practice so just be prepared for that kind of atmosphere. Parking can be difficult since it's Cap Hill. Most people park at the parking garage down the street. **I'm not going to fault Century for this but this is something for women to take note of - not all men here are as respectful as you'd want them to be. Watch out for their hands and unwanted advances. Sometimes you really have to set your boundaries clearly because some people will def. take advantage of a friendly dancer.**

Catherine was very patient and understanding of our experience level and first dance wishes. Within seconds of listening to our first dance song choice, she understood the style and vibe that we were going for. Catherine was graceful in delivering her honest feedback on how we could improve (and we had several laughs along the way). We also enjoyed interacting with her husband, FJ, who would also lean in to help should we need assistance with certain moves/lifts. We ended up taking about 10 lessons and left feeling completely prepared and excited for our upbeat swing-style first dance. Needless to say, we were happy, and our guests were wowed. I went here for my first dance lesson outside of college (because of covid, this was over a year…read moreago!) for the Hip Hop I/II lesson that took place around lunchtime of Sunday. Although the instructor was a substitute, I felt the quality of the lesson was not diminished at all. Pace of the lesson is beginner friendly, and even though it took me the first half of the hour to adjust and remember the vibe of dancing, I was still able to pick up the fundamentals and feel confident in myself dancing a few 8 counts at the end without hesitation. I had a great time, even with the fact that the class was really small (about 6 people), as it normally feels a bit intimidating for me to dance in small groups, at least for now. The only issue for me is the commute as I don't have a car to commute from downtown Seattle, but whenever my friend with a car wants to do more dance lessons, this will certainly be the first place I will think of! Besides, this is one of my coworkers go-to dance studio in the past before he moved closer to the city, and he has mentioned that before covid, some lessons are so popular you have to pay in advance to secure a spot!

There is a man who lives on the first floor, right outside the doors, who is a senior with disabilities. I am on the third floor, and every time they wake me up. I've asked the dance studio to please deal with this problem, but they simply ignore me. Sometimes people stand outside laughing and talking as well. There is a quite simple solution: exit the front door after 10 pm. I have multiple videos of this happening.

Heather was warm and welcoming to all the new dancers, and soon had them engaged with games, movement and lots of playful ballet. Allegro has been amazing! It feels like a family and second home for my daughter and there is so much room for her to grow with Allegro as she ages. Lovely teachers, the owner is always friendly and present and checks on the classes, students, and parents. We love it at Allegro and will be there for years to come.

The theater area/practice area upstairs is really small and intimate. I went for one of their performances half expecting to be bored out of my mind like at a ballet. Spectrum's modern dance is much more interesting and the routines often have provocative, sexually charged themes. The pieces kept me fairly engaged through the performance. They also have more interesting costumes than the ballet.

I attended several ballet classes here led by Annie DeVuono, and can heartily recommend the studio and the instructor! The space is quite large, though it can be poorly ventilated during hot days. The combinations given were appropriate to the level, corrections were given with care, and I felt truly like the instructor and other students danced for the love of movement, not to compare. There was zero body shaming or body-image focused corrections (if I have to hear "suck in your stomach" one more time from a well meaning but poorly educated instructor...) I came out of the classes feeling challenged (there was some tricky footwork in those allegro combos!) but satisfied -- and that is the hallmark of an amazing class. I also want to say that despite me being a temporary student and a newbie, I was welcomed very warmly by both the instructor and other students as well!
