It's easy to make an appointment and everyone is really nice there. I appreciate their feedback and never feel like they're trying to take advantage of me. I even asked about adding a hitch to my car and they referred me to Uhaul saying it would be a better price because they do that more frequently. That impressed me! The reason this review is a four star and not a five star is due to them applying a real sticker to the inside of the windshield after an oil change. Not like one of those plastic decals that is easily removed but a legit sticker with glue. I got an oil change some months back and they applied a sticker that was a real B to get off! I have all my interior windows tinted with a ceramic coating - including my windshield - so I don't want anything on my windows that could damage them. I was lucky to be able to easily get the sticker off with minimal glue residue but I handled it immediately. Had I let my car sit in the sun even for a day the glue would have adhered to the window and I would have had to use chemicals which could have damaged my tint. I had forgotten about the sticker until yesterday. I referred my best friend to Carfix and she was stoked with their great service. However, after we picked her car up she saw the sticker. I tried to help her get the sticker off but it was seared onto the window peeling in little bits leaving paper and glue and not coming off. She had to take a razor to her windshield to get it off - something I cannot do because of the tint. Ultimately, I'm not sure why they believe it's a good idea to apply a real sticker to the inside windshield when it'll sit and bake in the sun making the sticker virtually impossible to remove. It's also pretty presumptuous someone even wants a sticker applied to their car in the first place. Honestly, I always peel the oil change decals off cause I don't need to be reminded of when to get an oil change and I don't want that ugly sticker in my face when I drive. They might want to consider another option or ask if someone would want a sticker on their windshield in the first place. Other than that, they're great! So if you go for an oil change, you might want to let them know if you don't want the sticker on your window if this is a practice they're going to continue.

I recently visited Car Fix and, while the shop did provide a diagnostic with pictures and…read moreexplanations, I found the information less helpful once I looked more closely at what was actually being presented. The pictures included arrows pointing to various parts, along with recommendations and explanations, but the parts shown did not appear visibly worn or damaged in the photos. In several instances, the same type of recommendation and explanation was provided for different components without clearly showing or explaining what specifically was wrong with each part, what condition it was expected to be in, or why replacement was necessary at that time. I appreciate the effort to document the vehicle with pictures, but simply identifying a component and recommending replacement did not provide me with the level of detail I would have expected to understand whether the work was necessary. A diagnostic was provided at no charge, which I appreciated. However, I did not find the diagnostic detailed enough to fully understand or substantiate the recommendations provided. The actual service recommendations and pricing raised additional concerns. I was quoted significantly more for parts and labor than what I was able to find elsewhere, and additional parts and services were recommended that were not part of the service I originally requested and did not appear, based on the information provided, to be directly related to the issue I brought the vehicle in for. When I explained that I had found the requested service at a lower price, I was still strongly encouraged to proceed with Car Fix's recommendation because the part wouldn't be fixed correctly. I understand that a professional shop may identify additional concerns during an inspection and should bring those to a customer's attention. However, there is a difference between informing a customer of potential maintenance and strongly recommending additional work, particularly when I clearly stated what service I came in for. I provided the quote from a 2nd mechanic and was told "I cant do that. There will be parts missing". No flexibility in cost or repair work. For me, the combination of outrageously higher-than-expected pricing, additional recommendations, and the pressure to authorize services made the experience difficult to justify. I would have preferred clearer evidence showing the actual condition of each recommended part. I would encourage anyone considering Car Fix to get a detailed written estimate, ask specifically what is necessary versus recommended, and compare parts and labor pricing before authorizing additional work.

EL and his guys always do a great job, so I wasn't thrilled to have to get out of my comfort zone and find a new place. But with the summer heat in North Carolina, about the last thing you want not working in your vehicle is the air conditioning. I read the glowing reviews of Choice Auto Care on Yelp, and elsewhere, and decided to give them a shot. I am glad I did. Don was quick to get me in, and then out, and the job was done right - and VERY timely. He reminded me of my long-time mechanic from when I lived in South Florida. In fact, the two could almost be twins. It's a little further in distance than I usually go - in fact, I can walk to my 'regular' guy - but I highly suggest Don and the staff at CAC. It is never enjoyable having to get certain repairs done, but if you are going to spend hundreds of dollars for a fix, it's nice to know places exist that will do the job right, and not screw you over trying to upsell and still give great customer service. If you're in the North Raleigh area, definitely give them a call!

I've been a returning customer here for years, bringing multiple cars in for routine maintenance…read more This was the first time I called with an actual problem -- and it will be my last time calling at all. I phoned to describe the issue with my car. The manager told me to shut the engine off, wait a minute, and restart it. I did, and it didn't work. He then said I'd need to have it towed in. I responded "Oh, okay" -- in a completely normal tone -- and he became rude and hung up on me. I'm not sure what I said to provoke that. Nothing, as far as I can tell. But if a neutral response to bad news is enough to end a phone call, I don't trust this shop to communicate honestly about a repair I can't verify myself. That's the whole basis of the relationship between a customer and a mechanic. I'll be taking my cars elsewhere.

Absolutely the worst experience--avoid this shop at all costs!…read moreMy first visit years ago was awful, and while the owner did make things right, the shop manager was rude and unprofessional then--and nothing has changed. Recently, I had another terrible experience that confirmed I will never return. Three years ago, I paid Tao Auto to replace my timing belt and water pump for the first time. My truck had 322,000 miles at the time. Fast forward to NOW: my truck started making strange noises, so I took it to nearby mechanic. They told me the water pump was leaking and the timing belt needed replacing. So I had my truck towed to my regular mechanic, who said the same thing--and even noted the parts looked like original factory components. That's shocking because I paid Tao Auto for this exact job three years ago! My truck now has 356,000 miles, meaning only about 25,000 miles since the repair. Major repairs like this typically come with an 80,000-mile warranty, so I called Tao Auto. The manager was unbelievably rude and dismissive, repeating that the warranty was only 12 months and insisting they used "good parts." No accountability, no willingness to even inspect the vehicle, nothing. As a paying customer, this is unacceptable. It makes me question whether the work was ever done properly--or done at all. This shop clearly does not value honesty or customer service. The manager's attitude and honesty is the reason my first visit was horrible, and it's the reason I'll never go back. If you care about your vehicle and your money, stay far away from Tao Auto.

Scheduling the appointment is a breeze - used the online appointment scheduler, was confirmed in minutes. Drop-off is easy as well, you can use a key drop and leave the car after-hours. As a first time customer, it eased my mind when I saw that the shop is filled with all kinds of imports - Mercedes, BMW, Lexus .. and Mini. So these guys are specialists. I got a call before 10AM with an estimate (shop opens at 8). I'd had repairs estimated at the Mini dealer beforehand, so had an idea of the work that needed to be done. Reliable diagnosed the issues spot-on, and did the work for less than half what the dealer quoted. I had warning lights on the dash - check engine and brake. The check engine light turned out to be a loose wire on the oxygen sensor. The brake light turned out to be a faulty brake pad sensor. I could easily have been told that I needed a new oxygen sensor - or new brakes. And I would have taken that at face value. I'm always leery when working with a mechanic; since I'm not mechanically inclined I have to take their word on whatever repairs they recommend. And I've been burned in the past by paying for repairs that in retrospect weren't really needed. My experience here demonstrates that Reliable is a trustworthy business. Reliable Import Service is a reputable & honest repair shop and I recommend them.

Long version: On 1-19-22 my 2017 VW Golf was towed in for repair (I was pretty sure the turbo was blown and told them) I asked them to take a look and give me a estimate when they found out and they called me on the 20th telling me the head needed to be rebuilt and would cost over 5K, I asked if the turbo looked ok and they acted like they didn't want to even check until I committed to the other stuff and I asked them to email me the estimate and tell me if the turbo would need to be replaced and if so how much that would run before they started working on it (they never did) so I called them back on the 21st and asked what they found and once again if they would give me some kind of written estimate, they didn't check so I asked them to confirm no major repairs (like replacing the turbo) would be necessary once again on the 24th and they said they would call me on Tuesday the 25th and let me know (I told them I didn't want to do a $5,500 repair just to turn around and have to pay another 5K to fix something they missed (THE F'ING TURBO). Sooo on the 26th after never hearing from them I called and asked what was up, they said they didn't want to get too deep into checking if I wasn't going to have the repairs done.. but I guess they didn't want to actually tell me that so they held my car for 7 days and apparently did nothing so I went there and told them I wanted to take my car out the kid at the desk said he had to talk to his manager, after a few minutes he came back and told me it would take about a hour to get it back together, I said if you never did any work to the car why would it take a hour, "I need my car now, the tow truck is on its way" so they jumpstarted my car and DROVE it out of the shop (if the head was damaged so bad why did they drive it) I asked why the battery was dead the kid said his manager accidently left the car on.. On top of all that they charged me $125.65 just to play games with me, kill my battery and run all the oil out of the blown turbo and run the engine for god knows how long with absolutely no oil in it (something even I know better than to do). BTW I got my car fixed for a fraction of the price this shop was going to charge me (the turbo was broken). UPDATE: even though they didn't want to do any actual work on the car to diagnose what was wrong with it until I agreed to pay FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WASNT BROKEN they did have time to disconnect the hose in the picture costing the future mechanic time and stress, after doing the repairs he had to inspect the car to check for other signs of sabotage. I should have been a Karen and called the cops but I didn't know how crooked they where until after
