I tried their special the Shrinp Po Boy and it was done well. Shrimp was a decent size and a good amount of lemon dressing but not too much was used on the side salad. Shrimp was cooked well and the spice flavors used, Cajun I believe, was fine. It is nice to have decent quality food rather than some of the typical concert food I have run into at bigger concerts and some festivals. They were out of one of their regular dessert items, a tiramisu with coffee ice cream, and that disappointed me. The intimate crowd, while I felt bad that there weren't more people, there were enough to perform to, and it was a pleasant, entertaining experience which definitely helped me enjoy this venue more. I highly recommend reserving a table in advance. Bathrooms kept clean and service is nice here.
I am not sure how much the internet conundrums affected wheelwright's ticket sales, but his tickets were not showing up on the etix website properly off the world stage website, if you could access the world stage website. Certainly concerns about world cafe live in name technically not existing anymore and having to be rebranded as world stage is an issue even for locals. As you can see thankfully, this venue is still running shows. Just not their restaurant outside of shows. I do not know if food is accessible when seei g a show downstairs. I am guessing not.
You had to know to either click on a link from a fb page (and feel comfortable that that wasn't a spammy link etc) or realize the ticket vendor is etix and go to etix online and search Wheelwright. There was also a comedy event going on the same day which seemed more popular but it was also divided up properly and I didn't hear anything from the comedy show sounds leaking up to the upstairs more intimate space. read more
