Surprised to see such negative reviews on Punch Line. My experiences are always great and this past weekend was no exception. The security is quick and not too intense. The staff who seats you is always friendly and does a great job of getting everyone in. Typically the shows start right on time. I'm always a bit turned off my the two drink minimum if it's a night I'm not drinking, but they count waters towards your two drinks and are not very strict on the rule. The service for getting your drink is a bit slow, but it's a weird set up in there and they are trying not to be distracting, so there's prob a science to it all. Seating is good wherever you're at and the venue is clean and well kept. read more

First time here as I was visiting Philly. I was able to park my car in a paid lot nearby on Spring Garden St. and walked to the venue with ease. Getting inside was a breeze. I didn't have to wait in a long line and the bathrooms were also easily accessible. I was seated in a timely manner with a good view of the stage. My server was very pleasant and took my order with ease. I got a lemonade, stirred at the bar, and veggie nachos. Everything was great! The three comediennes who opened up for Winston Hodges were pretty funny. Winston was also a hoot! I had a great time and would love to come see another show the next time I'm visiting again. read more

Punch Line Philly is a popular comedy club in Philadelphia known for its live performances, good drink selection (including craft beers and cocktails), and food service during shows, with a layout designed for good sightlines from every seat in the place. My daughter and I went to a comedy show one January 22nd and main comedian was Brad Ttackman and he had two openers. Service was up to par. The comedians were fantastic. I haven't laughed so much that my cheeks hurt. What great performance. Drinks were delicious and we ordered the loaded French fries. They were delicious. read more

Went there for a book signing/comedy show! The venue is the perfect size. The seating was good. Didn't appear to be a bad seat in the place . The acoustics were clear! The choice of beverages were more than enough. Security was tight and respectful! Checking in the two women were kind, patient and helpful! I would definitely return to see performances hear again. read more

Punch Line is one of those places that I could have sworn that I had already reviewed years ago! But if anything, the fact that I haven't yet also speaks more so to how vast amount of live comedy options in Philly, which is why I give three stars when comparing it to what else is out there. I'm not necessarily giving three stars because Punchline is bad. But when it comes down to it, for comedy venues in the city, Helium just manages to bring in a more versatile lineup of comedians. And, since Punch Line is the Live Nation/Ticketmaster comedy venue, so long as they tend to book the bigger-name comedians in venues like The Met, Punch Line always seems to get left with the shorter stick. And this doesn't even begin to cover the abundance of options that showcase local comedians and improv nights, of which Philly has plenty! That said, Punch Line still does manage to bring in a decent lineup of touring comedians while also having a comedy open mic night and nights dedicated to local Philly talent. They also have a drag brunch on Saturdays that is supposed to be worthwhile. The two-drink minimum per person during a show can be a bit of a pain. But that does also include nonalcoholic options like Liquid Death and mocktails. You can also get one of their shaker cocktails, which counts as two drinks and gives you a useful shaker glass souvenir that you can take home with you. read more

Came here for a conference mid-week that utilized the comedy club space. Street parking is very limited and in some sketchier areas, so be careful of your belongings and security. The facilities themselves are decent and standard comedy club-ambiance. Security is a bit disinterested and distracted. Came here for a show mid-week, and the comics all bombed pretty hard. Pretty difficult to listen to and unfortunately not that entertaining. Standard minimums for drinks for shows. The timing of their drinks was terrible - taking last orders halfway through the last comic's set. We just started on our drinks when they were wrapping up and turning on the house lights! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a sold out Friday night show. Check in was fairly quick and simple. The room was completely packed and servers were under staffed. I read a couple of other reviews noting that service was chaotic and that was certainly my experience. After we were seated, it took a while for the waitress to come by. The table next to us told us that they had been waiting 45 minutes for the waitress take their order. It seems like we were placed in an area that was forgotten by the staff. Anyway after we placed our order and got our food & drinks, we never saw our waitress again. She came by at the end to give us the bill but didn't check on us for the entire show. We didn't even get a chance to order our second drink as part of the 2 drink minimum since she never gave us the opportunity lol thankfully there was no fee! For food we split the chicken tenders and fries ($24). Pretty expensive but surprisingly a decent portion with 6 chicken strips. Not to the fault of the venue but there was an incredibly rude and disruptive group behind us which was distracting to the show and really took away from the experience. It was disappointing that staff didn't do anything to intervene and tell her to be quiet. She was talking the whole time and her phone rang twice during the show!! Overall I'd probably come back for another show and mostly enjoyed my time. But at the same time I'm wary after the semi chaotic experience read more

Great comedy show - Bruce Bruce performed and he was quite funny. The staff was unable to keep up with the crowded room. They started taking orders ten mins before the show started. I shared the table with one other person . I ordered nachos and fries. Had to return the nachos as they stuck to the paper and the fries came out 20 mins before the show ended. I was then forced 20 mins left to the show to order a second drink because after 2 hours of sitting there, the waitress didn't have time to circle back. The other lady didn't get her fries. It was a hot mess read more

I just think comedy venues all came together and said we are all going to be mediocre and customers get what they get. There was an outdoor space and I can see how this is a good place to wait until your show starts but ordering food there was confusing and then the food was very much thrown together. We ordered drinks prior to the show and was told that they would count towards our two drink minimum but no one was tracking so we had to over explain ourselves at the end of the night which was kind of annoying trying to stage whisper while the show was wrapping up. Just cut the confusion and say ony drink bought while the show is happening count if you cant track. You really are just coming for the show so just come for that and dont expect greatness when it comes to food or drink options it feels like anyother comedy club read more

Went to Punchline and had a pretty good time. Bought a few drinks got my bill $48 left a tip total was $63. My card was billed 94.88. I thought it was just a mistake so I called and left several messages, no response. I sent emails again no response. Seems like a SCAM I guess. So it cost me $30 to figure out I shouldn't go back to Punchline. read more

What a delightful time seeing Atsuko Okaysuka's comedy tonight! AWESOME ENTERTAINMENT!! She sold cute swag too. She did have an opening act "Dylan. This was just so lively and fun. I'm sooooooo glad to see this. She has a comedy special on HBO currently. Note: I wish I had pics of her on stage but there were soooo many overhead /screen reminders NOT TO TAKE PICS/record. Staff worked hard scurrying around getting everyone their bevs. I enjoyed my cranberry juice. FYI: Bathroom had oodles of stalls. I would love to come back. read more

This is a great place to see a show. There is so much around here, so if you want to grab a drink or a bite before, you will have your pick. The space is really well laid out. It's intimate and there is not a bad seat in the house. The servers are warm and efficient and the drinks (2 drink minimum) are good. We saw Zainab Johnson and the show was outstanding. Good sound and great stage! I recommend this spot! read more

My husband and I came to check out Punch Line for Rob Ward's First Responders Comedy Tour. I had been to Punch Line before for a private event, but it was my husband's first time. There is a bar outside the venue for you to chill at before the show, and also a nice outdoor space. The restroom is easy to get to from either the show room or main bar area. The comedian was amazing, Rob Ward cracked us the F up and I honestly felt so bad that he didn't have a sold out show - he and his openers all deserved it. We felt very blessed to have attended his show and he had us in stitches, and was really experienced in interacting with the crowd and getting to know us - making the jokes hit even harder for our small little show crowd. The venue overall was good. I'm not sure how it is for a super crowded show since this one was maybe.. 30-40 people? The food was okay - as you expect at a comedy show - a bit overpriced for what you get, nachos were alright but were a good snack to have while watching a fun show and drinking. Their drinks are all roughly $14, but for the tallboy Golden Monkey it's not bad - and you can also add on a shot for $7 and that counts as your 2 item minimum. I kinda loved this option, so Philly - make your own city wide. Our server, I believe she said her name was Jasmin was very kind and attentive throughout the night. For 2 golden monkeys + 2 add on shots, and a round of nachos - the total came to about $80 including tip. I would definitely come back for another show. We're more so coming for the talent, not the food or drinks. read more

I had the crispy Spring Rolls at a previous event. There is a 2 beverage minimum, so I requested Rose which was delivered in a timely manner. Each time I have gone to Punchline I was by myself and laughed with the individuals I shared a table with. The elevated stage and great lighting provides a great view. Correy B is hilarious. My stomach felt as if I went to the gym I laughed so much. Meet and greet after the show. Staff will take photos for you. I truly enjoy going to this venue. My happy place. read more

Little sketchy area of course being where it's at but there's plenty of bars near by which we decided on Murph's Bar and then the brewery next door. The brewery next door has lots of beers to choose from with outside seating as well in grass. Very nice chill area to wait for the show to open. The inside venue is pretty big with great audio. Plenty of tables to sit at and everyone is very nice. Nachos were packed with cheese and the guac was pretty good as well. Plenty of chips and toppings to go between my girlfriend and I. read more

The venue overall is OK. The process to check in and be seated was quick and easy and everyone that we encountered was professional and pleasant and I enjoyed the show. The food however was just OK - I ordered cheesesteak egg rolls and fries and my hubby ordered a fried chicken sandwich. The cheesesteak egg rolls were doughy and had very little meat and flavor and the fries were cooked so hard that they had the texture of potato chips. I didn't expect an exquisite meal but the food was totally lackluster for me. Hubby and I ordered the same drink, which was Strawberry Lemonade Ginger - I didn't feel like alcohol so I asked for it to be made as a mock-tail; it tasted like Kool Aid... I was disappointed with the dining experience. The opening and main acts were funny and the sound was clear; seating was good too - we paid for General Admission... What I did not like were the interruptions from the crowd on this night; a few patrons were insistent on getting the comedian's attention - it was very annoying. If i see another comedian that I'd like to check out on the schedule I'll definitely return but will be sure to eat well before I come here and order a drink that does not require mixing :-/ read more

I was excited to have my first experience at Punch Line for a sold out show this past weekend. The show itself was great - well organized, started on time, solid opener, and fun tablemates to take in the show with. The venue itself has the same shortcomings as all Live Nation venues - which I don't necessarily short them for since much of it is out of their control. Things like the high cost of drinks, the two drink minimum, and overall not great consumer practices that Live Nation is known for. That being said, there are a few things well within the control of the venue that need to be improved. + Service here is not great. Staff is fairly uninterested and there were tables who were not visited once throughout the entire show. I've been to MANY comedy clubs around the country and this is by far the most miserable in terms of "vibe" that I've ever experienced. + On the same note, if you know a show is sold out, better lobby management practices need to be put into place in order to handle the volume. Security is a mess and huddled into a small corner, there was not enough bar staff, the beginning and end of the line to enter was completely unclear. If you're going to have shows allllll the time - I can't imagine going through with this level of chaos all the time? Very odd. It didn't seem like a one-off and was much more the norm. My drinks were fine albeit overpriced and the show itself truly was great! My advice? Arrive right at door opening and plan to grab drinks at Philadelphia Distilling or Other Half ahead of the show. Do NOT go to the PL bar and you'll still get a decent table, since there will be many GA latecomers. read more

I went to punch line for a comedian I was already aware of so I knew it was going to be a good show so that part isnt in question. Getting checked in was pretty easy since we were pretty early to the show (pro tip: if you want to grab drinks in the area before the show, make a reservation). Once we got in and seated we ordered drinks from the bar but ordering food was kind of confusing so we waited until the show started. Even though we were told our drinks before the show would count towards our two drink minimum they didnt have any way of tracking it so trying to clear that up during the last bit of the show was distracting and annoying. Either find a way to track or say its not included! Overall if there is an act here that i want to see i wont feel bad about going, otherwise its like any other comedy club in any other city. read more

Do not go here!! They rush you out at the end of the show - not giving you an opportunity to review your bill (they do it all on a screen). Charge extra drinks to your Credit Card, drinks you did not order, and definitely do not get! This is done serially!! For a city with so few comedy clubs this one pulls such shady sh*t and gives itself such a bad reputation! All it does is make people think badly of the people performing!! They should be ashamed!! read more

We came here for a show and overall had a good experience. The showroom had a two drink minimum and while we had no issue getting our drinks in a timely fashion, the couple across from us waited until at least halfway through the main act until the staff came back and realized the staff had not brought their first round of drinks. The food sounded good on the menu but once we saw it come out we decided not to order anything, as it all look underwhelming. Would come back for a show and drinks, but will always eat before. read more

Personally my first comedy club. Me and my bf went to see Steph Tolev (QUEEN). I had some issues with tickets and upon reaching out via email their response was fast and helpful. Parking wasn't difficult I believe you could've purchased a parking pass thing but the casino garage across the street was free for some reason? It worked out. Also as someone who DOESNT drink, there was a 2 drink (beverage specific) minimum. That includes sodas and waters as well, so we didn't get anything to eat just beverages. Outdoor and indoor seating was nice, chill music pre show read more

Punch Line Philly is one of many gems in the Fishtown neighborhood. I have been to this comedy club on four occasions and always have SO MUCH fun. It is a great way to spend a weekend evening that is also affordable. They even have a two-month-long program for budding comedians led by Brad Trackman. I purchased this program for my boyfriend as he's always wanted to try stand-up. He met with Brad and other local comedians to create a five-minute stand-up set, and they practiced each week fine-tuning their jokes and delivery. At the end of the two months, they performed for family and friends at a discounted rate. I cannot recommend this class more for any funny person in your life who's always wanted to take a crack at comedy. Furthermore, if you're going to see popular comedians from Netflix specials or TikTok... this is an intimate, well-run venue with efficient employees. I have always had a positive experience here. Side note - there are boxing gloves hanging from the ceiling above the bar which is such a cute, creative touch! read more

Hate hate hate hate hate this place with a passion. I get that comedy clubs have their "we need to ensure we make revenue" policies. Okay, fine. Two drink-minimum and such. Whatever, fine. I'm likely to order at least one drink anyway, but the idea of forcing people to imbibe is a bit weird. We arrived to our show kinda early. Bag check was seemingly thorough. The young lady emptied damn near my entire purse and missed what would've been an issue if the whole thing wasn't just for show, but oh well, that worked in my favor, but she just pushed all my belongings to the side and went to the next person. Naw, put my sh*! back like you found it. We went to the bar while we waited for doors to open and asked the bartender whether our purchase at the bar would count towards our two-drink minimum inside. She said yes. That turned out to be inaccurate. She didn't give me a total before running my card which I usually gripe about but decided to let it go because I just wanted to have a good time. Low and behold, a two-drink purchase came to over $90. They couldn't quite figure out how or why (likely didn't close out the prior tab), and several employees came to discuss it with us, but they were very reluctant to rectify the issue properly or even adequately. Terrible customer service. They tried to assure me that the charge would remain as pending and eventually disappear, but I didn't feel I could verify that in the moment without involving the bank. Far too much of an inconvenience for what's supposed to be a fun night out. They didn't want to comp the drinks, but I refused to use my card again and offered them the little cash we had on hand. I also refused to order anything additional when we made it to our seats. Not sure how we could be reasonably expected to comply with their food/drink minimum policies after all that, but they were very resistant to that accommodation. It was like pulling teeth but the had me confused with some peon. Not on my watch. Incredible performances by the headliner, opener, and host! This establishment can burn in hell, though. read more

the service the night we went was eh. i was under the impression i could place an order for an appetizer & once it came, id be able to decide whether we should get an entree. i didn't have the option bc our server visited us three times- the first time was after we were shortly seated, she pointed out the menu. Second time was when she took our order, & third was when she took payment. It was pretty packed in there, but i wasn't expecting mid service like that since the show's duration was about 3.5 hours. read more

I came to PLP for the first time to see David Arnold perform (great show by the way) and going back in less than two weeks time. What I liked was the look and feel of the space. I don't think there are any bad seats in the venue which is great. I went to the show with one of my girlfriends and we had General Admission seating. I got there about 45 minutes prior to show time so I was seated almost center to the stage in the next to the last row of seats. I waited for my girlfriend to arrive before I ordered food but the service was quick. We ordered the platter that included mozzarella sticks, vegetable spring rolls, chicken bites, cheesesteak dumplings, French fries, and different sauces. The platter is enough to feed two people. I missed where it said it included a pretzel so it was a pleasant surprise. The one downside to mention is when your food comes out and the show has started, it's very dark at the table or at least at table 73. We pulled our phones out to use the light to see our food. TIP: Get there early, order your food and dine before the show starts. read more

Last night felt like some sense of normalcy. It's May, 2021 and the requirements for the pandemic are changing frequently. Punchline had the precautions in place: employees wore mask, tables spaced out, attendees wore mask in common areas. We had a nice time laughing at the comedians with their "punchlines" about the pandemic and the struggles. The jokes were so appreciated! All the stand-up comedians were great! Of course, a place like this requires a pricey two drink minimum. I tried their frozen mango margarita (on the rocks; instead of frozen) - it was okay. Also, had the Fishtown Old Fashioned - it was a bit strong. We enjoyed the "Knockout Platter" that had a variety of finger foods. My favorite out the box was the mozzarella sticks and cheesesteak dumplings. FYI, there's a nearby free gravel parking lot (unattended). It's always a pleasure coming to Punchline! read more

Over this past weekend(Friday Night), caught a show with one of my sisters. We have not been to Punchline in at least 3 years. I love seeing Comedians in Comedy Houses, it's just a vybe. They have made some changes that I like. The brought the bathrooms up to date(automatic soap dispenser, trough sink & fresh scent). Little things matter. The Bar area outside of the Showroom is much nicer. Seating, Lighting & even the island were the alcohol is located is better. The changes make the space a lot more open. Still loving the patio. The Showroom. Much more comfortable setup. We don't mind sitting close to the stage. And the change to the smaller square tables makes perfect sense. We had Beer, Cocktail & Pull Pork(great)with home chips(too much seasoning, but the chip was really good). We got a Victory Golden Monkey 19.2oz for 13 bucks!! Amazing!! Iris was our server & she was great. Finesse Michell was the talent & he was great. Just a good time had. read more

Terrible customer service. The week prior to my writing this review I had attempted to reach the box office regarding handicap parking for my wife, I placed at least 3 phone messages during the designated box office hours. This was in addition to sending an email (which went unanswered) and finally I had to walk several blocks to the site after the performance by King Schuler. The box office person gave me the contact for Andrew Riehs who is the Box Office Manager; true to form the gentleman never called me. read more

Had a great time at Punchline in late August 2024. Came to see Zoltan Kaszas and other comedians and all were excellent. My friend and I love Zoltan! Parking was a tad sketchy and not well marked so if you buy the parking ahead of time there is really no indication where it is (under bridges, club is a short walk) so maybe improve that part. Overall we enjoyed our food and the drink we bought at the bar and carried into the club did count as one of our 2 drink minimums despite what someone else wrote. I came here tonight to see Ali Siddiq and I was a bit underwhelmed with my experience at the ticket office. Yelp offered a $5/$25 check in offer and while the guy at the ticket booth was nice, he said he was unable to honor it. It doesn't state for food or drinks so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be used for since the bar is called something different. Once the doors opened, there was a mad rush to get in the long winding line to get led to your seats for the show. We had general admission but were seated with a couple at a middle table in the center of the room. Our server was good; our table had first round of drinks long before the show started (we were seated pretty early on). There were two comedians before the headliner but in my opinion, one was better than the other. The 'host' who opened the show spent her whole set talking about her husband who she wants to divorce. It was funny the first 5 minutes she talked about it, but that literally was the ONLY thing she based her set on. It was honestly like beating a dead horse and made her sound pretty jaded. The second comedian was funnier. He also appeared to be a crowd favorite since there was lots of laughter during his set. I think his name was Skeet Carter. Ali Siddiq, the headliner, was good as well. The whole crowd seemed to enjoy his set and it was disappointing when it had to end. The food definitely left something to be desired for me. I've definitely had my fair share of margherita and this was one of the priciest and yet worst ones I've had. The crust tasted like it was previously frozen (similar to an Elios pizza) with crispy crust and slightly undercooked center. The 'sauce' tasted like it was spaghetti sauce and not any sort of pizza sauce. I was hungry so I ate it but for $13, even a mall food court can make a decent margarita pizza. All in all, it's definitely not a cheap night out ($26-$27 for tickets, 2 drink minimum per person). I think we spend like $56 on tickets and $60 for drinks, apps, and tip. Parking is $20 in the nearby lot or you can take your chance in the nearby streets. read more

I've been here about three times in my life and I love it every time. Going to this club is a whole experience because they have much more than just comedy. They have an outdoor seating area, corn, hole, and a bar. Seats are first come first serve so if you want the best seats at the front of the stage then get in line early. FYI, like most comedy clubs, they have a two drink minimum. And the drinks you buy at the bar outside of the performance area do not count! You have to order your drinks at the table for them to count. 2 drinks per person. It's a small stage with a huge area for customers, unfortunately, you would end up with some a very bad seats if you showed up late and there was a big crowd that day. In groups of two, you can definitely get seated early at the front of the stage. read more

Punch Line is a super interesting venue. For every event I've attended (comedy shows, drag brunch, trivia nights, etc), they welcome guests and keep them in the front area with a bar until the doors open and then they seat you. Usually, seating is first come, first serve. You are often seated with people you do not know, so keep that in mind. All events have had a 2-drink minimum per person, so I think that is a venue policy. Drinks have gone up quite a bit in price, both cocktails and beers and seltzers are over $10. I've made the mistake of ordering drinks at the bar while waiting to be seated, and those do not count towards your two drink minimum. The space itself is on the smaller side, so it's a great place to see someone you really enjoy! I think it has a capacity of like 300, so that makes the bathroom situation complicated. There is almost always a line. Overall, I don't mind coming to shows here but it's certainly not my favorite venue of all time. read more

Came here to see Ryan Davis and he was great along with his opening acts. Arrived early because seating is 1st come 1st served and there's a 2 drink minimum and 18% gratuity is already included. The drink prices are ridiculous in my opinion and the food was ok. Our fries were good, crispy and just the right amount of salt but damn they weren't hot at all. Cheesesteak egg rolls were okay. We were seated at a table with I believe 8 chairs and told we couldn't sit next to/across from each other but rather behind one another r this is rather odd when you're with someone and have to keep turning around to talk or sit kinda sideways. When purchasing the tickets online, I didn't see any option for VIP seating or for the high-tops which allowed for 2 people. Wish we would've seen the option or been provided the option to purchase and sit in a booth or high top. They do require you to wear your mask and proof of vaccination upon entering but I did see many people not wearing there mask once inside and it wasn't something that was being forced (I mean we are all pretty much eating and drinking). I believe they said that there were almost 300 people inside (I'll continue to mask up while trying to enjoy life again). The staff was busy. Back and forth back and forth and they were all pleasant and working together. Didn't matter if the person was originally your server, if you needed something or table to be cleared someone was coming to do it and make sure you were good. The decor is really neat nice with a big design of the bridges and the stage backdrop is pipes that look like the Philly skyline. Along with purchasing the tickets we purchased parking at 1025 N Front street because we were unsure of the situation out there but because we arrived so early, there was free street parking. read more

The service is decent and the space itself does the job. No complaints regarding the lighting and sound. However, they really should inform patrons there's an automatic 18% gratuity charge to each bill--especially because of the lack of lighting during shows and the fact that it's not prominently shown on the bill. I can't speak on the food because I only got two Liquid Deaths ($5 each!) since they have a 2-item minimum. This felt very wasteful to me because I wasn't in the hydrating or eating mood, but I chugged them nonetheless. Their prices are kinda ridiculous for what you get. Another example: my friend got a mixed drink for $14 and it was small and not strong at all. read more

I actually came when i got a ticket from Yelp to see a show. I attended the 945pm Mike Vecchione show and was glad I came. Me and my boo were seated close to the stage and had a nice view and could hear everything so well. The staff were all friendly and the waitress we had was really quick with our drinks and food that we ordered. To my surprise the food was really good too! We ordered the chicken fingers and fries. I had the fried shrimp and my boo had the cheese steaks egg rolls. We also had drinks, I ended up getting the Czech beer which was a special and was around 5 bucks, which was a pretty decent price for a large can, and my date had a rum and coke. The drinks were tasty and the food was really fresh. When it came to the show- comedians, they were hilarious!! I never laughed so much!!
