History
Established in 1985.
When it became apparent that woodworking supplies were not easily found, as a woodworker myself, I made it my goal to find what I could and make them available to my fellow woodworkers. In our own shop we produced custom turned legs for anything imaginable. We even turned a 7' 4" golf tee for a customer.
In November 1993 we bought an 1858 hardware store and on February 4, 1994 it became our new location. 13-1/2' wood ceiling, 18" thick walls and the warm feeling that only an old building like it can bring to the people that visit.
Today through the world wide web, our customers come to us from all across Canada and the USA. Our selection of woodworking supplies is ever changing and the opportunity for you to save money on your next project is as close as your keyboard.
Can't find what you are looking for? Drop us an e-mail or give us a call. We'll do what we can to help you out. If the quantity matches, we even have direct suppliers from Taiwan. We should be able to help.
Meet the Business Owner: Steve S.
The love for woodworking came early to Steve. He blames his uncle for standing him on a crate in front of a lathe sometime around the age of 10. A long piece of wood between centers became the challenge but what was he supposed to make? "Copy this" his uncle told him and ever since that day the lathe was a machine for duplicating spindles, table legs, porch posts and rosettes.
At the age of 14 a local one-man woodworking shop accepted him as an after school helper. When the boss realized he could turn, it became a summer job and then a year round part time job. All available time was spent in the woodworker's shop. The business expanded into bedroom and dining furniture followed by kitchen renovations and commercial cabinets.
Training on commercial European machinery, tooling, cabinet design and hardware lead Steve to start Workshop Supply Inc. as a source of essential products for woodworking businesses, woodworkers and home renovators. Visit them in Embro or at workshopsupply.com.
