While I don't live there myself, one of the things I admire about Old South is the fact that it seems self-contained. That is to say if one wanted to spend their entire life only in this neighbourhood they just might be able to pull it off. For the most part. Tuckey's is clearly an essential part of that. When so many other smaller hardware stores have closed this one just recently expanded. I don't visit too often but Saturday mornings often find me in Old South and at least a few times a year I make it into Tuckey's - including this past weekend. I cannot remember a time when they ever didn't have what I was looking for. That being said, I suspect their prices are slightly higher than the big box stores and the selection is clearly smaller. They have one or two options for each item - not twenty or thirty. I honestly don't mind spending an extra buck or two and most the items I'm looking for are relatively small items. Of course, in any Home Hardware carries it they will apparently have it shipped their for you. All that being said, the staff here are super friendly and it has a real friendly vibe. Staff are talking to each other, chatting with customers who are chatting with each other. It's great. They have a garden centre when the season is right and lots of stuff out on the sidewalk to catch the interest of the many people walking by. In closing, they're ideally located with in the heart of Old South and I hope they always be. I'll make a point to continue shopping there whenever I am in the area to ensure that happens. read more

Tuckey's is conveniently located in Wortley Village at the corner of Wortley Road and Craig Street. They offer Aeroplan points on purchases but you must present your card at time of sale. In the summer there is a garden center. There is a dedicated paint section of the store. They carry a selection of kitchen supplies, including Paderno pots and pans. Services key cutting, screen door repair and propane tank exchange. Parking is in a private lot, and street parking is also available. They will order anything in the Home Hardware catalogue they they don't carry in-store. It usually takes less than a week for special orders to arrive. Prices are reasonable. read more

I call this Hardware store "the little Hardware store that could". Located in Wortley Village, they have everything you could want for a home or an apartment. A favourite with the locals and the non-locals it is a Hardware store that definitely deserves your business. read more

I try to do most of my hardware shopping here. Screws, nails, bolts, but our bulk water here as well. Always friendly and expanding which is great! read more

Everyone is super helpful and the store is well laid out ,if they can't help they will direct you to somewhere that can !! Great Place!

I called this store in advance to ask if they were able to cut a piece of plastic that I require for a window air conditioner. The person on the phone said it would be no problem. Then when I went there I showed the plastic to an employee and they said no problem. They called another employee to do the cut and he said no problem. I waited for what seemed a long time and then the first employee who said no problem told me that the part had not been cut straight and proceeded to tell me that it was against store policy to cut something like this even though three people had said "no problem". The poor young guy who made the cut had to come and see me by himself with no manager or supervisor. I feel like they threw him under the bus. I told him it was not his fault and to relax. He came up with a fix which took another day. I do not blame the poor guy who made the cut at all. I thought it was terrible that they tried to backtrack as soon as they found out it did not work and they did not help the guy who made the cut at all. This was a very poor way to treat me and the employee. I will never go there again. read more
