I ordered two om-90 masks and a military grade bag. They had the best prices by far and I wanted to support a local business. I ordered everything Wednesday night and literally got it Friday morning. The customer service team did great, positive attitude and very attentive. The quality of the products I ordered is 10/10 The customer service I received was professional which I would also give 10/10. If you go, wear a mask. This isn't a review of the products or service. I've been a longtime customer of FCS but won't be going back anytime soon. The aisles are very narrow yet nobody except me - customers or staff - wore a mask when I went on June 22. People literally bumped into each other everywhere. To make matters worse, the store had tons of masks for sale - regular medical style and KN95 - near the cash registers. Holy smokes people. If we all stayed home or wore a mask, things would return to normal in a few weeks. I wear a mask to protect those around me. It'd be nice if other patrons had the same concern for me. I drove 2 hours down from Toronto during a business trip in late Jan 2012 just to check this place out. They have camping and electronic surplus, and a little bit of military type stuff- all my favorites. It's also part dollar store. I spent several hours looking through this store, it was a lot of fun. The only let down was at the cash register where they wouldn't accept my (American) credit card. All the other places I visited on my trip did. I had to go drive around looking for an ATM machine that takes my card to get some cash out. Prices were reasonable; some of the older surplus could have been cheaper, but prices ended up being OK on average. If I'm in the area again, I would stop by again. Camping? Paint balling? Preparing for the apocalypse? Well Forest City Surplus has you covered. This place has it ALL. We visited FCS to get some supplies for camping. We walked around for quite a while because there is just so much to look at and tons of great prices. There was a ton of variety too. Lots of different types of rain ponchos and protective gear, tarps, camp supplies, and even toys and clothing. Whether you need pvc pipe, magnetic sheets, bungie cords, a piano, body wash, honestly, Forest City has it. We purchased a hat from Circus CIrcus (the Las Vegas casino) because it went with our camp theme. They used to give them out back in the day when you signed up for their loyalty cards. Talk about a sweet find! I stayed away from purchasing a sleeping bag as I was unable to see what it was like on the inside. They have a sign saying not to open them up. If you have a free Saturday afternoon I would suggest heading down Dundas to check it out. It is attached to the Gibraltar Weekend Market so there are lots of great deals there as well. I already have plans to come back soon to pick up a few things that I forgot about. Either way, I know I will get some of the same products found at big box stores for a fraction of the price. Forest City Surplus Canada - Cheeky signs - Electronics Near Me - London, Ontario

Prior to my visit, I had never shopped at Forest City Surplus before, with the exception of a visit so that my friend could shoot the air rifles. I was having a bit of 90's nostalgia and wanted to get myself a black World Famous bag/purse. I found out that Forest City Surplus sold them, but that they often sold out of them, and I'm not much of an online shopper. I contacted Forest City Surplus and dealt with Tim Hodges. He went out of his way to ensure that what I was looking for would be in stock for me. When it came in, he put the bag aside for me and let me know that they came in. I went to FCS to pick up the bag that I wanted and I found out that he had put it away in all three colours that it came in. I had only expected to find a black bag, but was happy that he had thought I might want a different colour. I ended up buying two black bags, and two in other colours. Tim personally came out of the back of the store to ensure that I had the requested product in my hands. He came out and greeted me, had a smile on his face and was very friendly. The store atmosphere was good. I shopped in the back section where they keep batons and such as well. I have to say that the staff was helpful and explained how to work the baton etc. I ended up buying a few more items than I went in for (because they have it all and then some!) I would have to say that I would return to the store again. Tim's involvement in my store experience makes to want at FCS again. I would deal with any associate but Tim went above and beyond the regular customer service experience. There is a lot of different things in there that I'm sure if you went just to browse, you would find a treasure or three in there. read more

I was recently sitting outside Forest City Surplus and the Gibraltar trade center on the picnic table trying to enjoy my meal from Di's Fries. Both places were blasting music at the same location drowning each other out and it was just an awful noise. I went into Forest City Surplus and said it was quite unpleasant sitting out front. She cut me off and said we are not shutting it off, that I will have to just bare with it. And if I have a problem deal with Gibraltar because they are leaving there's on and won't even turn it down. ( This is after I spent $60.00 in that store. I was going to go back in and buy a $500.00 wireless security camera package they had but definitely not now. The lady was rude right off the bat and showed no respect and all. I will not shop there again. read more

Forest city surplus helped me find a replica of the 1970's Colt 1911..i ordered late in the evening..called early in the morning to confirm everything..wouldn't you know it i spoke with the kindest laid back gentleman who reassured me that he'd make every effort to mail it the same afternoon ..now i have in memory of my dad a service man who passed away in 2008 the exact replica of his Colt 45 ..i got it in just 2 days for a very decent price. *** BUYER BEWARE*** I would put less than 1 star but yelp doesn't allow... I ordered 2 magic mesh screen doors from their online site where they had the item pictured in a manufacturers box. I live in Nunavut and the shipping is expensive so I called and spoke with them first to make sure they were a legit company as I had never heard of them before. When my order got here I opened the box and found some pieces of screen crumpled up and stuffed into a used pita pocket bread bag! When I opened the two bags I saw that not only were they not the "Magic Mesh" screen doors that they had advertised but there wasn't even the same thing in both bags. I called them immediately to let them know and they said somebody would call me back the next day... I waited a few more days and then called back when I never got a call from them. I was put on hold and disconnected until eventually I got a ahold of a "manager" named John. He was very rude and dismissive and only wanted to talk over me without hearing what I had to say. I called back to speak with the owner but I was told he doesn't speak to customers!? These two items cost a mere $7 each but the postage was over $35 being in Nunavut (there was a third item as well, mesh bug jacket). The two bread bags contained about 50 cents worth of screen mesh scraps that were not what was advertised and was not what I had ordered. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE WITH FOREST CITY SURPLUS, THEY DONT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!!! read more

I was so excited to find a dehumidifier at a good price, and as a frequent buyer of used and refurbished items, I had zero concerns purchasing a "surplus" unit. But Forest City shipped me a unit that had been returned by a previous customer without all the packing material, so it got super banged up in shipping; the plug had poked through the box and gotten bent, so I couldn't even test the unit. These things happen, right? But after FOUR phone calls (the menus did not work on the first two calls to the 877 number, and I sat on hold forever on the third to the 519), when someone at Forest City finally picked up, they claimed I should have known it could be in such poor condition because the website said the unit could have "minor scratches and dents"?! I was hoping for an apology and clear return plan, but no such luck. Apparently the manager feels so confident in the quality of the service they give, that he would not even tell me his name for "safety" reasons?! Literally every Walmart in the country has their managers full names and photos behind the counter, so by Forest City's own manager's actions, this company's service is worse than the big box stores that it gleans from. Online buyers beware; they won't even give you a refund, just an exchange (that you will have to wait for, and may very well also be broken because Forest City clearly does not inspect their products) or a store credit (because dealing with them is so awesome). It will take less time and hassle for you to find something that works on kijiji, or Craigslist, or Facebook marketplace. And you'll probably get an even better price. read more

Discovered this gem about 4 years ago from a London Free Press ad. I was surprised I had never heard of it before then. I'm not normally in the east end of the city so that may have been why I missed it. The store is very guy friendly so that maybe why I haven't heard of it. So far I have ordered three times with this company and normally drop by once a month to the store (sometimes having something shipped made more sense then driving across town to grab something. I haven't had any major problems. Overall it's good value for the money. The store is a little messy and has some unique features like a fake bomb and a shooting range for the airsoft guns they sell. Those things make it a nice change from Walmarts, The Bays, Sears, and Zellers/Targets out there. Overall it's a place that is fun to explore. You are bound to find something interesting. Because it's a surplus/liquidation store the stock they have can change from month to month. I find if you sign up to the email newsletter they have then they will just email you the best deals that they have. I don't think you can beat there selection of flashlights either (about 30 to choose from). The camping selection is pretty good. They don't put away there camping equipment so if your a planner like me you can shop in February for your spring camping trip. If you go I suggest you park in the flea market parking lot in the back as the main lot is a little small gets pretty crowded. Since the flea market has abut 500 parking spaces you won't find any trouble finding a spot for your car. I have sometimes seen customers coming in RVs in the back lot as there is so much room in the Gibraltar parking lot. read more

I have been going to Forest City Surplus for years. The place is a bit of a treasure hunt, however there are plenty of good deals to be had. I found signing up for the email newsletter to be helpful as they normally put their best new deals in there. Also the email newsletters are well done. You can tell that they are not automated like the ones you get from Amazon. The multiple pictures on their website is nice too. It lets you know what you're getting before you drive out there or place an order. read more
