When I showed up after 9+ weeks of waiting and excuses the reciprocating saw was fixed ( dirty and tossed in a box ) but fixed. The miter saw was not fixed the broken parts were still laying in the box and to top it all off they replaced a part that did not need to be replaced, they had me wait weeks and weeks for a back ordered part that was not even the part that needed to be repaired. After two cuts with the reciprocating saw it broke again!

The products are almost always superior quality (once in a while there is a miss, but only…read moreinfrequently). A word of warning - there is no such thing as a quick trip to Lee Valley. You have to find your product in the catalogue, take a number, write out your order slip, hand in your order slip, wait for your products then check out. It can get very busy on weekends and around holidays. To save time you can peruse the online catalogues before you go. Be open to funding new uses for the products. For example, they have plastic tubes with metal lids in the woodworking catalogue which are handy for storing thread spools with bobbins. Allot some time to browse the store - you'll surely find something that you want to add to your order. The store is waaaaay out there on Oxford (almost to the airport). Free parking.

I have, on occasion, gone in not knowing exactly what I'm looking for--but rather, just described a problem or challenge I'm having, and one of their staff (all whom are involved in at least one quirky hobby) has been able to say, "Well, son, sounds like you need this. . . ". Like a handyman's oracle, they answer questions and dole out solutions provided you're willing to make the sometimes arduous trek to their often remote locations. I promise you: it's worth the trip. Particularly if you want to address a homelessness problem for a very specific type of bird.

Really a 3.5. Let me explain…read more We had two antique pieces recovered in leather. The leather is beautiful but the staples are visible all the way around the piping. We also had a custom couch made. Again, the design is beautiful but the quality of the work has a few bobbles to it. For example, it's obvious that they miscut a piece of fabric for one of the cushions so they just added an another piece. It's the only cushion with that extra piece added. Also, the inside seams weren't serged, so they are frayed. The couch looks good and has held up well, but the cutting of corners is noticeable to someone who sews. Items were delivered on time. Prices commensurate with the work done.

In the summer there is a garden center. There is a dedicated paint section of the store. They carry a selection of kitchen supplies, including Paderno pots and pans. Services key cutting, screen door repair and propane tank exchange. Parking is in a private lot, and street parking is also available. They will order anything in the Home Hardware catalogue they they don't carry in-store. It usually takes less than a week for special orders to arrive. Prices are reasonable.

When so many other smaller hardware stores have closed this one just recently expanded. I don't visit too often but Saturday mornings often find me in Old South and at least a few times a year I make it into Tuckey's - including this past weekend. I cannot remember a time when they ever didn't have what I was looking for. That being said, I suspect their prices are slightly higher than the big box stores and the selection is clearly smaller. They have one or two options for each item - not twenty or thirty. I honestly don't mind spending an extra buck or two and most the items I'm looking for are relatively small items. Of course, in any Home Hardware carries it they will apparently have it shipped their for you. All that being said, the staff here are super friendly and it has a real friendly vibe. Staff are talking to each other, chatting with customers who are chatting with each other. It's great. They have a garden centre when the season is right and lots of stuff out on the sidewalk to catch the interest of the many people walking by. In closing, they're ideally located with in the heart of Old South and I hope they always be. I'll make a point to continue shopping there whenever I am in the area to ensure that happens.
