He also had a weekend appointment available for a 60-minute massage, so I decided to give him a try based on the other reviews online. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to my appointment, which was recommended in my pre-appointment email. Anthony was downstairs in the lobby waiting on me to guide me back to his studio, which was relaxing and calming the second I walked in the door. After a quick consultation about what I wanted him to focus on and what I wanted him to avoid, he stepped out of the room and I was under the heated table in seconds. I like a little more pressure everywhere except the back of my neck, and he adjusted his pressure exactly how I wanted it. I had several knots on my shoulders and he worked them out in a way that didn't make the rest of my body tense up. I only booked a 60 minute appointment because that's what he had available, but it went by way too fast. Next time I'll book a 90 minute and will probably continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Each of the massage therapists is certified to perform safe prenatal massages. They have an easy online booking system (which I appreciated). I showed up and everyone was masked (March 2022) which I was thankful for, being pregnant. They offered me a glass of water while I completed the waivers and were very friendly! (I was the first appointment of the day.) I went into the room and the therapist thoroughly explained how the whole massage would go and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted her to focus on. The table was extremely comfortable for a pregnant person :) special pillow/mat with holes to accommodate your growing body and the ability to lay on my stomach (which I've missed!) and there was no pressure anywhere on my body. Just laying on the table was worth the whole massage! Lol halfway through I rolled over and she replaced the belly mat with a large wedge, so I didn't have to lay flat. The only thing I'd suggest would be having white noise or meditation music and or candles/aroma therapy. It was very quiet, but that would've put it over the top with comfort. I felt like I could really let go all of the stress and just exhale. I booked my massage with Anthony, the co-owner of Broad Ripple Massage & Wellness. I chose him because he has experience with Thai massage, which my body really responds to. The massage with Anthony was wonderful. He incorporated some elements of Thai massage and stretching, but also lots of Swedish massage strokes and deep-tissue work which targeted some of my most tense muscles. I loved that he focused a lot on my jaw muscles and head/neck area, which just so happens to be where I carry a lot of tension. After my massage, I was fully relaxed and dazed, as one should be after a great massage. Afterward, Anthony told me that I also carry a lot of tension in my chest, and gave me some tips on how to stretch those muscles by stretching out my shoulders and arms. I love walking away with more knowledge on how to take care of myself! Broad Ripple Massage offers massages, but they also offer float therapy, which is a type of sensory deprivation that places you in a room with a shallow pool of salt water that makes you buoyant. And you float, in the dark and without sound, and eventually you fall asleep and your muscles and mind relax. I have never tried float therapy, but I think I am going to take the plunge (so to speak) soon, and my first time will definitely be at Broad Ripple Massage, because they have a nice setup. Broad Ripple Massage is located just off Broad Ripple Avenue, behind the Ascension St. Vincent medical offices. You can park in those parking spaces by St. Vincent, and then walk around onto Winthrop Avenue, where you'll see the sign for Broad Ripple Massage.

(This makes me feel all sorts of feelings! Why can't things stay the same and continue forever and ever?) However, nothing is forever, darling. I now see another amazing massage therapist at Indy Massage Company named Matthew. He is pretty great, and I look forward to relaxing on his table each month at IMC. He is intuitive and firm yet incredibly gentle, and I'm able to just surrender and let him work his magic. I've mostly only booked Swedish massages with him, but one time I booked a longer session where he really worked out the muscles in my upper back and shoulders, which really needed attention. Indy Massage Company is one of my favorite places in Indy, and I continue to love visiting this place when I can.
