BEWARE!
I found this company on Yelp and thought they looked great so I called and left a message. Josh called back right away and seemed great, so we scheduled an appt. once he learned where we lived, he said there would need to be a trip charge (my words, not his) as they didn't have any pools in my area. This statement will be quite relevant shortly. He came out, everything was very straight forward, and we agreed on every 2 weeks at a price of $150 per trip inclusive. I did tell him I wanted to be here when they came to service in case I had any questions or needed to Point out anything specific. He never could give me an exact time but he would say that he would text me when he got here, no problem. Or so I thought. He would text me, but it would say "we're almost finished" and by the time I saw the text, he was almost in the truck ready to leave. I didn't think it was really that big a deal but it kept happening every time. Recently when we talked about winterizing the fountains and slide of the pool I told him we had the plugs but we were going to leave the pool running in case we wanted to use it. After that phone conversation and before they came out to do that my husband spoke to him and told him we did want to winterize the pool. Naturally my assumption was that it would be done at the same time. When I questioned Josh about that he said he would have to do it another time he didn't have time to do (now, this is the part I said earlier that would be relevant later.... he said they couldn't do because they had other pools in the area to close . Hmmmm, so they got new clients in less than a month in my same area ??? My radar went on high alert)! it nor did he know if it was able to be done since he thought the pool pump might be on the same line as the spa. Wouldn't you think someone who says they have as much experience as he does know this after servicing our pool several times? He also said he could probably do it but we would have to walk up over the rocks on an incline to manually turn the spa heater on and off . I told him that was not an acceptable answer not gonna happen !! All right so I let it ride until the next time they were going to come 2 weeks later. Before the appointment I texted him and asked him if he could please come at 2 PM or later because that's when my husband could be home while he is winterizing the pool. He texted back why did my husband need to be there and if we have any questions he would be happy to answer. I said he just wants to be here to see what you're doing. He texted back and said It is unusual for the pool owner to be a part of the winterizing process. I wasn't asking him to have my husband as part of the closing process just to be present . He also said he is happy to answer any questions about winterizing and how it works, but not in person. Warning signs galore!!! He also said they need to concentrate on their job and having a third-party observe would be very difficult for them -since when is the owner a third-party? At that point he said that if I'm uncomfortable they understand and urged me to find a company that will be more compatible with my needs.
I told him I did not understand and that if you're quitting I would like to hope that you would fulfill your commitment to finish the service he started. He responds back and said he still must have 100% focus and he said he preferred if we part ways.
Wow, now, what does that tell you? It sings loud and clear, look elsewhere for a trusted, knowledgeable, reliable pool service company. read more
