Look. Do you want to sit hunched at your computer on a table in the kitchen of your studio apartment for 8 hours a day, tripping over the cables every time you get up for a snack which happens every 10 minutes because hey, you're already in the kitchen anyway and your cabin fever and lack of human interaction have convinced you that it's okay, you deserve it? OR would you rather sit/stand at a real desk in a bright, sunny, converted historical building with views of the entire city, that has been decorated by urban planners and contains actual real people (not slackbots!) with whom you can converse?
The answer should be clear, at least to remote-working ambiverts like myself.
Work Hive is, in all seriousness, truly great. The offices are clean, bright, and well-decorated. There are lots of different options for working there - you can reserve a desk, float between available spaces, reserve whole offices, conference rooms, etc. It has a more professional feel (but not in a stodgy way) than other coworking spaces I checked out in SLC, which were a bit too chaotic and casual. I have a job where I am at a computer for 8 hours straight and I need to focus - but I like to be able to chat with others from time to time and for there to be a general hubbub surrounding me that I can ignore if I want. Work Hive is perfect for that. Mark, the owner, works in the space and is super friendly, responsive, and goes out of his way to connect the people in the office. I really can't recommend it enough - if you need a space to work, this should be your first and only stop. read more
