I tried calling the PCP the plan had assigned me and they couldn't see me for two days. Instead, I opted to go to THE DOCTOR IS IN! on Park Avenue-- he doesn't take insurance-- instead you pay $40 and get treated. THIS is the healthcare we should be pushing for in the US. His office was clean and welcoming-- a big screen tv, magazines, etc. I waited about three minutes and then was seen, treated, diagnosed and given a prescription and was on my way in under 15 minutes. BAM-- no insurance needed. Take out the middle man and bring healthcare back to the days when doctors ran their own little offices. This is a great place-- and even with my mandated insurance I will still opt to pay my own way and come here.

I had tried to go to CVS's Minute Clinic but they aren't allowed to give physicals in MA (and made me wait for 2 hours). I came here as my last resort, driving by at 4:45 after work to see that it opened at 5:30 After getting a quick dinner, I walked into the clinic at 5:30 to find that he had already started seeing patients. I was in an out by 6:00 with a letter for my employer and only down $60! In the time between when I walked in and when I left, the doctor probably saw about 4 or 5 patients and was still very friendly, kind, and helpful to me, taking his time in asking questions and listening to my answers.

In the times I have dealt with him…read moreas being my PCP, I have never ever felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable as I have, in these past 3 weeks of seeing him. I have been dealing with a major back issue and I patiently waited to be scheduled to see Dr. Chira. I understand during COVID-19 times now, that everything can be more slow-paced and a health risk; however, I felt as if I was put on the back burner. I had to head to the ER in order for myself to get any type of doctor's note for my job. I did not feel comfortable going back to work in my condition and wanted to get answers! A week and a half later, I finally did see Dr. Chira, and there was still no proper diagnosis. I, myself, recommended to get a MRI done to get a better understanding of what's going on with my back. Also, to see what issues are going on. I had 1 more follow-up appointment with Dr. Chira after that; that being after my MRI was done and results were in. Still no clear-cut answers from him. I had to continually repeat with him what medications I am on; as well as what I have been doing since my back injury. It's as if he didn't remember anything I had told him prior? Not to mention Dr. Chira explicitly wanted me to call my pharmacy to "double-check" what medications I am on so there is no "confusion." I was dumbfounded and couldn't believe my PCP was not believing me. Dr. Chira handled my diagnosis with no clear-cut answers. I had to bring up physical therapy as an option. I expressed concern and interest in Short Term Disability because my back injury is going to take a lot more time that I had imagined apparently. I am looking out for the wealth fare of my job! Dr. Chira cringed at my vocal expression with STD! Why? I was looking for guidance and reassurance. I was looking for help and concern. All I received was disconnect and lack of empathy. Lastly, when Dr. Chira brought up what I do for work, he mentioned maybe I should find another job? How can I make that assumption when I need to make sure and take care of my issue first. Especially before I can decided anything like that? He was not helping me with responses such as that! Not to mention one of his office receptionists, a Miss Stacey. The very few times I spoke with her over the phone in these last 3 weeks, was, only a complete disregard for my feelings and disrespectfulness. I am finding a new PCP and have no intention of going back to Dr. Chira. He failed me as my PCP; and that's saying a lot for me considering I had been seeing him for almost 10 years. Dr. Weaver immediately recognized my need and scheduled my surgery for the following week with his associate, Dr. Pennings. Dr. Weaver was not involved in my surgery, so I cannot speak toward that, but as a consulting physician he was fabulous. I feel completely at ease with him and trusted him so much that I actually canceled my second opinion and went immediately with Dr. Pennings because he recommended him. As a courtesy, Dr. Weaver also reviewed a second MRI for an additional disc bulge I had higher in my spine that another surgeon I had consulted with earlier in the year on that other issue you left me confused and terrified about. He gave me a valuable opinion and assuaged those fears with a mere sentence or two. Dr. Weaver is the kind of doctor other physicians should aspire to be. I would feel comfortable in the assumption that Dr. Weaver is as capable a surgeon as Dr. Pennings, but I hope you never suffer the need to find out for yourself.
