City Dance Corps and Cat's Eye Coffee is in a building with several businesses and companies as well, which makes it convenient for the employees to grab a good cup of coffee in the area. I stopped by Cat's Eye Coffee on a Thursday around noon. The staff was friendly. There were already two other customers chatting when I visited. I ordered a cappuccino which was made at a reasonable time. I also noticed the smoothies available, all which sounded delicious. They do use Pilot Coffee Roasters. I sat down to enjoy my cappuccino which was made well. Definitely a good cup of coffee around the Ossington/Dupont area!

It is quite compact with a handful of seating. One thing I would note about the atmosphere is that it may not be ideal for those who like to work at cafes because there is a lot of activity and movement from customers coming in and out from dance classes, including from excited children and chatter. Some may find this activity distracting. The washrooms are also shared with the dance company. I ordered a croissant that I got warmed in the toaster oven, which was a generous size and was satisfying and crispy. All the pastries and sandwiches are sourced through a partnership with the Petite Thuet bakery. The total cost came to about $4 CAD, which I would consider on par with a downtown cafe, and I felt happy with the quality of the pastry I received. If you are in the Dovercourt area, this cafe is a nice spot to drop by for a little bite and drink.

I found parking right in front of the cafe. It's diagonal, pull-in street parking. I walked in. It's a push to get through the door. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, accommodating staff member. I wanted a hot chocolate and asked about the four different ounce sizes. He showed me all the paper white cups. I went with the second-largest size. I also asked that I get soy or some non-dairy beverage added to it. Done! I have a weakness for baked goods. This cafe has vegan options, including pumpkin vegan muffins during my visit. Everything looked so goods, from brownies, to cookies. I saw the large cookie jars staring at me. My gosh, each cookie is larger than the palm of my hand and I have big hands! I wanted a s'mores one so badly. You basically take the tongs, grab your cookie, and place it in a paper bag. I got my hot chocolate and cookie that came to $9. It's not cheap, but it's fair trade goods. I expect to pay slightly more. There is a draft in the cafe, so the merchant bill that I had ripped off the machine before getting my bill blew off the counter and onto the floor. I let the man know, which he appreciated. You can pay by cash, and debit and credit cards. I also provided a tip. As usual, it's up to you. It was a bit of a challenge with full hands to get out of the cafe when you need to pull on the door handle to get out. Luckily, I put my hot chocolate on the bar-like table, pulled the door open, used my foot to keep it open, grabbed my drink, and moved quickly through the door. Problem solved! The hot chocolate is dark chocolate. I happen to love it. If you are more of a milk hot chocolate lover, you might find the hot chocolate to be missing sugar and perhaps taste bitter. I loved it. There was probably more soy in my drink than there should have been, but it was perfect for my less sugary needs. The s'mores cookie is extremely yummy! OMG, if I lived in the neighbourhood, I would buy the jar of cookies every day. It was buttery, chocolatey, and marshmallowy (I know, not a word, but whatever) delicious. It paired nicely with my hot chocolate, as it had slightly more sugar. I would come back just for this cookie alone. There were plenty of seats to sit down. If you sit by the bar-like area with stools, you get a nice view of the area. People-watching is casual in this cafe. It has a nice vibe. You can get a number of fair-trade coffee varieties. I am personally not a coffee connoisseur, but I appreciated both the selection and the cause. I like this cafe. I'd come back to give the muffins and more drink items a taste the next time I'm here. I stopped by Rooh Coffee on a Saturday morning. The coffee shop has a sign outside to indicate they are located inside Gamerama. Once you enter, the coffee bar is to your right. I opted to grab a cortado to have there (they have a table inside and another table outside). My order was made at a reasonable time and staff were friendly. They even offered me a coffee rewards card (you can buy 4 drinks and get 15% off your 5th one. Buy 9 drinks and your 10th drink is on them!). I randomly browsed the game shop and there were lots and lots of games for purchase! They also have an old school pac man arcade game in the back as well. Coffee wise, my cortado was made well and tasted great (came with latte art as well!). I enjoyed my coffee while soaking in the sun. Overall, a great new addition to the Midtown area. I stopped by Nile Coffee Club on their opening day and the place was busy! Many friends and family came by to congratulate the owner and grab drinks as well as hang out. Menu wise they have your usual espresso based drinks (cappuccino, espresso, americano, etc.), teas, a matcha latte, smoothies, as well as some signature drinks - a Nile nicecapp, mango sticky rice & coffee jelly, and a Brazilian limeade. They have pastries as well as toasties (halloumi, roast beef, and turkey). The cafe has some seating but you can also take your coffee to go. At night it turns into a cocktail bar. I opted to grab a cortado and had it there. It was made at a reasonable time despite it being so busy on the first day. The vibes of the space are chill and casual. Staff were friendly as well.
