I am so incredibly disappointed in the woolen mill. I totally splurged on a throw that I fell in love with. I have washed it 4 times, using their recommendations, and it is full of pills shedding everywhere. I did contact customer service, they questioned how I had cared for it and told me there was nothing they could do and it was environmental and something I did to it:( this is a company that stands for years of quality..sadly my throw is not quality. They did tell me I should get a sweater brush/shaver and brush it...I feel like investing that much money in this throw, I should not have to use a sweater brush/shaver. Are very least, this should have been replaced. read more

A fantastic high-quality selection of locally made woolen products can be found at the Warped and Woven Mill Merchantile located next to the Woolen Mill in the Amana Colonies. The selection of products is amazing and represents and handcrafted textiles at it's finest. Blankets, runners, table cloths, placemats, napkins, Hetz, gloves, capes, etc. You may find the products a little pricey, but this is truly the finest I've ever seen. They must stop in or check it out online for their products as they do ship. read more

Wonderful visit here. You can watch the mail in action and buy their products next-door. We also stayed at the mill - a part of it has been changed to a wonderful hotel that has kept the atmosphere of the mill. read more

This is for the Outlet Store, the new face of the Woolen Mill. Actual Name : Amana Woolen Mill. Aka Warped and Woven. No more tours inside the mill. Too complicated now with Covid Precautions for the workers. So many things in this store that anyone would want. You have to decide on a budget. If you stay at the Millhouse Hotel on the same property you are entitled to a 10 pcr cent discount voucher So for me and family , I need 2 winter caps, already on hold, ladies winter gloves (2) and a bed scarf like we have on our hotel bed. There is so much more, wool blankets and couch throws and runners and placemats. All in wool blends or Merino exquisite soft wool and all made on site in the Annex Building. The is a functional for profit woolen mill working daily and sending the profit back into commune society. In service since the 1800's. What a delightful way to spend your money. read more

The Woolen Mill has a wonderful storefront now to showcase some of their fine woolen products such as scarfs, blankets, hats, placemats, runners, and some other woven items the colony produces wool for. The craftsmanship is absolutely superb and would make a wonderful gift for anyone at any time. The staff is also friendly and very welcoming to answer any questions and make your visit more pleasant. Although their products here are also available online now through a website, it felt much better to visit this actual store to get an more accurate feel for their wonderful hard work. Custom embroidery service is also available, thus you would need to inquire within. The winter weekend crowd may just be a handful, but when the temps are more moderate this is quite the happening place. Public parking is located on the street, but there is a convenient parking lot just a few storefronts down the street past the store. read more

The temperature outside with the heat index was over 100 degrees, so I have to admit I wasn't too excited to drag my kids to a place where they made itchy wool blankets, sold furry sheepskins, and other wool goods. However, this stop on our Amana tour was a major score with the family. Having been here before, I figured the most exciting part of our visit would be the weaving area/museum that's open to the public. You can see the wool blankets being made, dyed wool on spools, and old weaving looms no longer in operation. Like a TV episode of How It's Made, my kids thoroughly enjoyed a behind-the-scenes peek. But, what they enjoyed even more was the shop, and I mean REALLY ENJOYED! I figured they'd be bored, but they were so obsessed with the sheepskins and blankets we had to actually bribe them to leave. It seems like the shop is smaller with fewer items than I remember, but it's more refined. The wool blankets are pricey, but they are worth every penny. You'll find a variety of blanket designs and sizes to choose from. I also wanted a sheepskin for every room of my house. You'll find wool socks and scarves, and I think a monogrammed blanket would make a great wedding gift. Note: You can purchase your own small weaving loom and yarn for all your blanket-making needs. Never a bad time when you get to come hang at the wool mill! The weaving (I think) area where most of the blankets are made is to the right when you go in. Quite impressive and a good spot to kill a little time. They recently revamped the place and for the better IMO. The offerings are solid, but it's not overwhelming as it was in the past. Good amount of sweaters, scarves, hats and mittens, plus a number of other off the path wool items like dusters and placemats. Most of not everything is made locally and the stuff if quality. I'm on year 4 of a hat and scarf combo that keeps on giving! The discount section is the left and often has some good offerings. Well worth checking out if you're in the area and have a little time to kill or some toes to keep warm! read more

Cool place - they have recently undergone a rebranding, so if you have already been and wasn't a fan, it is worth giving it a second try. It used to be a clothing shop (for old ladies) on the left, and the right was the looms, some information videos from the 90s (probably on VHS), and tons of folded up, scratchy blankets. Old lady clothing is now gone, and they offer crafting/weaving classes. Pretty cool! the middle part showcases some of their new products, including more modern looking pillows, purses, hats, etc. The loom room is still there, but they have some better, more trendy patterns and colors now. The products are kind of expensive, but I would rather spend the money for quality items here than some big name store, like Pottery Barn. read more

Over $700 later, I left with gifts for nearly everyone in my life (including myself!). The highlight of the place is the women's dress section. It's huge and dresses for EVERY occasion. The amount of sequins in this place is unreal. The men's section is also enormous, as is the women's (non-dress) section, including a great plus-size variety. The shoe clearance section was all women's; there was another shoe dept but I never made it over there. The most underwhelming area was the kids department, and specifically the boys section. The girls section was decent, but the boys was crazy sparse. The baby department had a fairly good selection. The main focus here is ABSOLUTELY clothing, but there are some home goods. If you're making the visit, make sure you walk the whole store and aim for clothing!

This boutique was cute and well equipped with clothing for every size and shape! They also had so many cute shoes and sandals - apparently more are on the way (you bet I'll be back very soon)! For those that aren't into clothing, Vault also has a lot of accessories - purses, jewelry, perfume, etc. a little bit of everything for everyone.
