Aren't our dogs like our children? My little dog is 12 1/2 years old--a Havanese--and absolutely adorable. I travel frequently, and it's always been such a dilemma: Who's going to watch her? Do I bring someone into my home? Do I take her to my kids' house? And then there's the guilt--why am I not taking her with me? I miss her terribly when I'm away, sometimes even feel heartbroken. I think so many of us feel this way about our pets. That all changed when I found Woofs 'n Whiskers. I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful they are. They have two locations, both perfect for different needs. I live in Brooklyn Heights and use their smaller Warren Street location for daycare--it's incredibly convenient. Their other location has a large yard, an amazing staff, and is ideal for boarding. What really stands out is how well they know and care for each dog. They know every dog by name, they maintain clear and thoughtful rules, and my dog absolutely loves going there. She's stayed for as long as three weeks when I travel, and I also use them for shorter daycare visits--whether it's a couple of hours, a half day, or a full day. This business is so accommodating and well run. For example, I recently went to Florida and had a nightmare getting home--delayed for four days due to weather and travel issues. I emailed them, and within minutes I got a response: "Don't worry--we have Buddy. We'll get whatever food she needs. Stay as long as you need." They were flexible when I needed to extend, and equally flexible when my plans changed again. When I finally picked her up, she was happy, relaxed, and smelled amazing--they had given her a bath! This has completely lifted a huge burden off my shoulders. I no longer feel guilty when I travel because I know she is safe, cared for, and genuinely happy. I have been taking my golden retriever to Woofs n' Whiskers several days a week since he was four months old. The staff is a genuinely caring group of people. They know my dog and love him, I feel like they are part of this extended family of caretakers helping to raise this pup. He absolutely loves going there. This is a truly community centered business - they don't have that icky, slick corporate feel. Don't be dissuaded by the few negative reviews - yes, mistakes happen, they could happen anywhere, and these are animals, after all. But these are exceptions to the everyday exceptional standard of care. I trust this group completely. read more

On June 11, 2025, my dog Milo was injured while under "supervision" at their facility -- he was left with a large, deep flesh wound on his side after being "nipped" by another dog during "normal play". This is not something that Milo receives every time he plays with other dogs. If this is what they seem as "normal" I cannot even fathom to think what a severe incident would like under their business practice. Woofs n' Whiskers downplayed the severity of the situation by informing our emergency contact that everything was fine and that Milo was now receiving extra "love and attention". This was not a minor accident. The injury was so extensive that the vet surgeon had to take skin graft from Milo's inner thigh in order to close the wound. Woofs 'n Whiskers tried to minimize the incident by covering up the evidence and intentionally left our questions unaddressed. After initially agreeing to share the video footage of the incident, they later reneged on their word and refused to provide the evidence they initially promised due to "privacy concerns" There is no legally recognized doctrine of confidentiality or privacy applicable to the identity of a domestic animal under New York or federal law. As such, the facility cannot lawfully withhold the identity of the dog responsible for injuring my pet, Milo, under the guise of 'confidentiality.' Their final response? They declared the matter "closed" and refused to provide any further information or accountability -- while accusing us of being hostile for simply demanding answers about our injured family member. Milo required emergency surgery and is thankfully on the road to recovery. But this could have been avoided with proper supervision, transparency, and care. And through all of this -- they never once apologized for what happened to our dog. read more

Woofs has saved our lives, we have 4 dogs with different needs and characters, and they give each one special treatment. They care about my babies as much as I do and that for me it's just marvelous. We have left them there several times when we travel for work or vacations, always found them healthy and happy when we came back. Darla, female pug, suffers of allergies and they give her her daily pill and once in a long travel her allergies attack her and woofs took her to the vet immidiately. Their staff is nice and caring, Marisol specifically, Mari is adorable and knows everything about my dogs. I just have good things to say, keep the great work! read more

Our dog Jack was mauled at Woofs and Whiskers. The only thing they handled properly in the matter was bringing him to the vet. Our pup needed to go under anesthesia to have surgery and had over 40 stitches to repair the damage. Their response when we asked what happened was to remind us that we signed a waiver stating that we acknowledged that dogs will often bite each other. They did not even ask how he was until we followed up. They originally told me that the dog that attacked jack chased him and bit him from behind and then changed their story and said that jack fell on the other dog which instigated the other dog. Regardless of what provoked the situation, the fact that Jack's bites were so severe leads me to believe that the dog was aggressive in nature and was allowed into the daycare either by failure to identify this aggression or ignorance of it. To put it into perspective the other dog had 2 staples on his snout which was from Jack defending himself. These people do not care about your dog it is a commodity. Its going to be said when someone's pet dies because of negligence and they come back to them and remind them of the waiver they signed which allows them to be incompetent. This happened a while ago but it still makes me seethe, so I'm coming here to write about this terrible, terrible place. Unsafe, with bad communication and seemingly no oversight. You can see all the other bad reviews, but I want to add to the pile because this place is trash. Our dog has separation anxiety, which they were made well aware of, and had welcomed her, assuring us it was no problem, that they deal with this all the time, and that she would be well taken care of. We ended up bringing her there multiple times without issue. We even pre-paid for a 10-night pack because we thought they were taking good care of her (although - sidenote - they started charging a "medicine administration fee" to give the anxiety pill with her meal, which is still so hilariously crazy - I half-expected to see a "meal-feeding fee" in there). The last time we went there, our dog was severely injured, and no one at the facility even realized it. I found the deep wound (already infected) when I got home. She needed to go under to treat the infection and receive dozens of stitches, which cost us several thousand dollars. Woofs n Whiskers first told us it couldn't have happened on their watch because they would have noticed. Then when we told them it was already infected so it DID happen there, they "did some digging" and told us that actually one of their employees TACKLED HER INTO A FENCE because they were afraid she was going to jump. Truly still can't believe they didn't think to bring that to our attention, or that after it happened, they didn't do a thorough enough inspection to realize that she had split her paw between two toes so badly that the BONE WAS EXPOSED. They were extremely unapologetic, didn't offer to cover any of the damages, and didn't even offer to reimburse us for the nights. After we pushed back, they offered us three free nights to make up for it. We thought we'd never go back there, but had spent so much money on those prepaid nights, we were striking out with alternatives, and thought maybe they'd take extra good care of her since the prior time was such a mess, so several months later we decided to try and take them up on this offer. They told us that offer had actually expired, as had the rest of our pre-paid nights (which we weren't aware even had an expiration date). We asked if they would make an exception because of how much money they ended up costing us in medical fees, and because there was no explicit mention of that offer having an expiration date, and, after the matter was escalated to a manager, we were told that, actually, our dog actually wasn't welcome there any more at all, "because of her anxiety." With no offer of reimbursement. They offered us free nights, knowing exactly what our dog's issues were, after the incident, and then when we tried to actually take them up on it, they told us we couldn't use them on the grounds that OUR DOG WAS THE PROBLEM. Absolute pieces of garbage. Really makes me wish we were rich, so we could sue them into oblivion. But I guess Yelp is my only recourse. read more

We will never bring our dog here again. Not only did our pup need 20 stitches in her paw after she was boarded there, but they never even alerted us of the incident when it happened. We noticed the deep gash in her paw immediately when we got her home and had to reach out to Woofs and Whiskers to inquire about what happened. Clearly they are not paying enough attention to what is happening at their facility, as our dog was visibly in pain and bleeding with an injury that clearly happened multiple days before we brought her home. It breaks my heart and is completely unacceptable, especially when paying top dollar to ensure our pet is in good hands. read more

We had to board our cats because we were having work done on our apartment and hadn't used a non-vent boarding facility before. Woofs n' Whiskers got great reviews so we tried them out and were very happy! Very clean, professional, kind. The cats have little "condos" and a window that looks into the lobby. I wouldn't recommend cats stay here for more than a few days because their condos are pretty small (unless you have a super mellow kitty!) but it helped us tremendously in a pinch. They followed all our directions (& labeled all of ours cats' things) and we would happily use them again. read more

Customer service - quick, easy, and absolutely focused on pet and owners. Facilities - beautiful, clean, and spacious. Staff - very caring. Sometimes they send emails about how your pet is doing, who they play with, and how they slept through the night. My one recommendation is to keep up with those. Love these guys. read more

My pet has stayed overnight several times, against my better judgement. On two occasions I found cuts on my pet that were not noted by staff. When I brought this to their attention, they apologized and then referred to an incident that had taken place with my pet at the facility. They had not notified me about this incident at the time. They will only notify you if you ask. My pet was sick at the facility for several days and they did not notify me until I checked in. They also do not provide a tour of the facility or where the pets sleep. read more

Our cats came back traumatized. We went into the cat area during our pick up to discover it was just an old closet space. They also had a cat can do placed on a shelf that seemed dangerous, with cats roaming in and out of cages. The area is located next to the dog facility so the cats are sitting anxiously at the sound of barking dogs. It took us a while to pull our cat out of the pen due to the stress. The staff also wasn't helpful during the pick up process and didn't seem fully trained to handle all animal types. Pretty disappointed and would highly recommend a Rover home sitting service for any cat owners looking into it. read more

Our dog, Teddy, boarded here for three years while we lived in Brooklyn. When originally looking for a location, it was an easy choice to make the walk from Park Slope to Woofs 'n Whiskers in Red Hook because of their facility. Unlike many urban daycares/kennels, Woofs actually has a large outdoor yard that the dogs can play in. It was a little bit of a hike for us, but always worth it. The yard is large, fenced, and monitored by the staff. We were a little nervous to drop him off initially because Teddy is a rescue and his last kennel (in Chicago) always indicated that he did not like being in the kennel. He never once has had an issue at Woofs - in fact, he was always tugging for the last few blocks to get there. He loved the people, the dogs, and it was clear they loved him back. They also value their customers. We were boarding members (meaning we had a yearly membership). As an example, we moved out of the city in August, a few weeks after his membership was set to expire. Rather than charging us for another month of membership or the daily rate, they kindly extended our benefits through the end of the month since we had unused days in our package. Most importantly, we know they cared for Teddy. When we picked him up for the last time, it took a few extra minutes because the staff wanted to say goodbye to him. We highly recommend this facility and thank them for always taking the best care of our pup. read more

We LOVE Woofs 'n' Whiskers -- have been bringing our 2-year-old Husky for doggie day care twice per week since he was about four months old... We now often refer to the Woofs crew as "Leo's other family"... They have a large outdoor space in which the dogs can run around, the dogs are arranged by group so they're playing with dogs of similar size/energy, and the staff is amazing and and seems to care for the dogs like their own. They routinely post pictures of the pets in their care on Instagram (I've posted a few here), and are happy to email a picture at any point if requested. Leo PULLS me to the door when we arrive in the morning, and is happy and content (and tired!) when I pick him up. We're so grateful to be able to trust WnW with Leo -- he's come so far socially and we know it's in large part because of Woofs 'n' Whiskers. One of the best in NYC!! read more

So happy to have Woofs' n Whiskers in our neighborhood!! We've been taking our doggy Leopold here for the last half year. He loves it, we love the location and that there is an area for dogs to run around outside and play together. In the summer, they have a pool and a shady gazebo. Sometimes when I come to pick him up, I see him playing with his neighborhood friends and it makes me very happy to know he is spending the day somewhere fun and well watched over. The staff is super duper friendly (Leo loves them). There have been a few occasions (including this last week) where I forgot to book until the last minute - and Lana helped me out and reassured that all would be well. They've even taken care of him as he has been healing from his surgery. I appreciate that this is a community business - and I am just very happy to have them in the community. This is an exceptional place. I've been doing business with this company for over ten years and have never had a reason to look elsewhere. I swear, I think my dog looks forward to coming here more than spening the day with his family, and although we've been using them recently for grooming services - which are excellent - I've had to board a previous dog in their facility for a period of time and have had not reason to complain. These are "pet" people. They will dote on your pet while your gone and pretty them up when it's time for a bath and clipping. W & W is a Brooklyn treasure. read more

They came recommended by my veterinarian. However, they misrepresent their services over the phone so that you fill out their lengthy admittance forms. Everything that I asked about they indicated they could do and they even offered a better price than what they initially stated. However after filling out their forms and answering a follow up email about scheduling, a day later they emailed me to inform me that all of the key information they told me over the phone was incorrect, e.g. they don't service my area, they don't do insulin shots, and they want me to bring my cat into their facility to be boarded. After talking with them on the phone I stopped calling places because I planned to hire them. Now I have lost a couple of days for searching for a pet service and my vacation is fast approaching. This business wasted too much of my time with their questionable business tactics and I would not recommend them based on this experience. read more

We started bringing our dog here for daycare once a week about a year ago. I do this to help him get some energy out beyond walks and it does the trick and also helps with his socialization (he's not always great on the leash). The very large play area is very well-kept and the dogs go out in shifts with dogs their own size. When I say "Want to go to Woofs and Whiskers? Play with doggies?" he gets sooo excited. When we enter, there are no goodbyes from him, he charges in so happy to see his friends and play. He is exhausted that night and a lot of the next day. It is a great place for boarding too, and he is extremely comfortable and happy there. I would not hesitate to recommend this place. read more

I registered so I could leave a review. My dog Camden has been going to Woofs for a little over 6 months now. I can not rave enough about the staff, facilities, and services. It simply would not be possible for us to care for Camden the way we have been if it wasn't for Woofs. The location is slightly difficult to get to, but it is worth it. I have looked far and wide and visited many facilities but none match the staff's professionalism and their genuine and sincere care of animals, the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities, and the range of services provided. Camden is a high energy dog that simply doesn't tire. He can play. And play. And play. The outdoor area of Woofs is large enough for him to run around in. He has the most fun when he's running free and it puts a smile on my face knowing that he's having fun and doing what he was born to do. When the van pulls up or he sees the facility, he's immediately full-body-wagging and is super excited. He especially loves Chris, the morning driver who picks him up. I can not say enough about the staff. Not only are they professional, but they are so friendly and go the extra mile to make sure that Camden's happy and that I am happy. The level of service provided by the staff here are not only the best in the pet care industry, but is some of the best for ANY industry. It rivals hospitality. If Michelin stars were a thing for pet care, they would earn 3 easily. There are countless examples of the care. From proactive emails recognizing Camden's eating habits and offering to hand feed him, to dealing with my barrage of inquiries into his bathroom habits, every email is met with the most kind, courteous, and timely responses. I am PROUD to tell people I take Camden to Woofs 'n Whiskers and I spread the word at every opportunity. I (and my little puppy Lily) love this place! Lily is always a little hesitant to leave me, but I always pick her up happy and healthy. The staff is professional and very nice and accommodating. I emailed them during my vacation to just see how Lily was doing, and they replied with a short report on how she was doing so far. I left my dog here overnight and when I went to pick up my dog she had a big cut on her inner left leg. They said it happened overnight but didn't call me until they opened the next day!!!!! The workers didn't even make sure she was okay. They didn't allow my dog to see their vet. When I went to go pick her up, I was furious and I asked the workers what happened and they claimed that they had no idea. I took her to a vet near home. The cut was so deep that she needed surgery and several stiches and had to wear a cone. She had stitches for two weeks and then had to get staples for another two weeks. My dog was suffering for a month with a cone on her head and an injury caused by the workers not paying attention to my dog while she was there for one night. I do not recommend this place and would never send my dog there again. read more

We have been using Woofs 'n Whiskers ever since we adopted our wonderfully playful dog, Mookie (and were told by another doggy daycare that he had "too much energy" to come there). We were so happy to find Woofs 'n Whiskers, and we loved that they had plenty of space for him to play. (It's so much bigger and the staff understands dogs' needs so much better than at the other place, that we were glad in the end to have been rejected!) Arturo and Danielle and other staff genuinely love dogs and understand their needs as do the guys who play with them and supervise them in the yard. Daycare really enabled Mookie's good behavior at home and made him easy to train. Mookie is thirteen now and hasn't needed doggie daycare in a long time, but he continues to love going to "camp" at Woofs n' Whiskers when we're out of town. And we enjoy our trips more knowing he'll be loved and cared for! read more

I am on my second generation of sending my dogs to Woofs n Whiskers. OMG. That is 20 years! One of my first dogs was a rescued Pitbull with issues. Woofs worked wonders with her and she lived a long and happy life. On Woof days, and only Woof days, she would stand at the window looking for the van! We have to board our cat a few months ago because of construction. The decision was very last minute but Woofs n Whiskers was able to accommodate. All the staff that I interacted with are friendly, professional and communicative. They do ask for immunization records prior to accepting the boarding, though it can be annoying (as we are trying to call the vet to get documents etc), it makes me feel better about putting my baby here. They wont compromise the integrity just for business. The day we dropped the cat off, they labeled all her food by dates, special instructions, and the cat house actually has holes look out to the lobby. Very cute. When we ended up checking out early, Woof n Whiskers was able to accommodate that as well, and didn't penalize us. Lastly, if you don't live too far away, I highly recommend paying for their transportation service. The price is reasonable and you will avoid being given one star on uber for transporting pets! I will definitely use this place again next time if I have the need to board my cat or dog. read more

Do not put your trust in these people that they are taking care of your cat. I have been taking my cat here for the past few years since the Fifth Avenue Cat Clinic closed. Most times I drop my cat off and pick him up without issue. There Have been two previous incidents, which are relatively minor in comparison to how my cat was given back to me last week. I only got to see my cat when he jumped out of his carrier. I was mortified firstly as he looked like he'd noticeably lost weight, but secondly he looked like a street cat. He looked gross and I could see in his face he was not a happy kitty. I chased after him to give him a cuddle and noticed overwhelmingly that he stank of shit. I lifted his tail and saw that his underside was really dirty, his fur was matted together with cat litter stuck to him. At arms length I ran him upstairs and immediately drew him a bath and was shocked that the water instantly turned brown. He was disgusting. How long has he been like this? and why wasn't he cleaned up? I don't expect a spa treatment but I at least expect to find my kitty the way I left him. Happy and contented. I was really shocked and angry as I just handed over $415 for boarding him. Thinking this was all that happened and glad my kitty was home and now all nice and clean, he began refusing to eat, which is totally not like him. Next day, the same thing. No food. I got really worried as he started hiding and cowering away when I tried to pick him up. I could see he was in pain, so I took him to the vets office. Upon x-ray I come to find that he was completely constipated which had obviously gone on for some time - maybe up to a week. Having seen the x-ray myself I can testify to this. I was shocked that no-one from W&W contacted me to let me know, or contact their vet in my absence. While at the vet's office, I also find that he's lost almost 4lbs in weight. which is 1/4 of my cats weight. I was only away 11 days which meant he had not been eating most of the time I was gone. I can only categorize this as NEGLECT and nothing else. I'm sure some of the people who work here genuinely care for the pets in their care while their owners are away, but for some, it is really just a job and they really don't care about your pets comfort, health or general well-being. I will never EVER use these people again. My advice would be to look elsewhere for a local cat sitter. Park Slope Veterinary care can help you find someone to take care of your cat, and they also board cats and will genuinely care for you cat. Do not trust these people with your kitty. They have completely and utterly lost my trust in them. read more
