Judy has been our go-to person to care for Abby even if we are gone for just a weekend... We can rest easy knowing she is watching over Abby. She comes once a day to give Abby her medication, then plays/sits with her for about 30 min... She sends us pictures or videos when she is there so we can see how Abby is doing. I'm writing an update because we recently went out of town on an extended vacation and I couldn't be happier with Woofs 'n Purrs. I was worried that our dog would have anxiety about us not being home for so long. But Judy assured us that since she'd be taking care of him for more than just the usual 2-3 days that she'd take special care of him, being sensitive to the fact that he may be stressed because of our absence. We were on the other side of the world, in Japan, and although I missed our boy I was never worried about him because Judy sent us pictures and videos every day showing us how much fun he was having. When we returned home, he was happy-go-lucky as usual. Almost like he didn't even miss us! Boarding my dog has never been an option for me. We adopted him from a shelter and I would never want to stir up those memories for him again. I'm grateful that I was able to find a pet caretaker that can accommodate our dog-sitting needs in our own home no matter how short or long our vacations are. I have nothing BUT amazing things to say about Judy at Woofs 'n Purrs. When I met Judy, it was purely by coincidence as I was walking my dog. I am SO grateful we did though because she has truly changed both of our lives! My dog is a 2 1/2 year old rescue pitbull mix and was having "issues" with other dogs. She would be fine as we walked passed other dogs on leash but when a dog came too close, she would bark/growl and scare both the other dog and owner. This happened continually and I ultimately developed a fear of taking my dog around other dogs. I then decided to hire a trainer- and though that trainer helped teach my dog commands- they absolutely did not get to the core of her "dog on dog" issues. When I met Judy, I had one session left with the other trainer and I really felt defeated and frustrated. After speaking with Judy, it was like a door opened up and I had hope again. We decided to meet for a training session and I can honestly say after JUST ONE SESSION, my dog and I were both changed dramatically! Judy immediately sensed my nervousness and emphasized the importance of giving my dog a calm and relaxed energy. Judy helped me realize that my dog was feeding off my nervous energy and was reacting in a non friendly way as a result. I was so scared to approach other dogs while my dog was on leash but Judy took the leash and did it as I stood back and freaked out. Lo and behold, my dog did NOT react to the other dog and it was at that moment that I realized just how important my energy was. Since that day, I can honesty say my dog and I have changed drastically. I only give positive reinforcement and walk calmly and leisurely. I am no longer scared to approach other dogs and I am so proud and relieved to say, there have been no more issues! Judy truly understands the bond/relationship between dog and owner and makes you feel comfortable from the moment you begin working with her. If my dog and I didn't meet Judy, I have no idea where we would be today. We are both so much more confident and relaxed and it is all because of Judy's guidance. If you are experiencing any issues with your dog with other dogs, you should absolutely not hesitate to hire Judy. We have an 11 year old Vizsla who, as is typical for his breed, can be very anxious and excitable. As he's gotten older, he's become less confident around strangers. We had some serious problems with our last dog-walkers as they were fearful of Cedar & he was scared of them. When he nipped them & they ran off, leaving him at home with the leash on, I knew we had to change something. I contacted Judy and warned her that we'd had some problems with the last dog-walkers. When she first came to meet Cedar, he growled and barked ferociously, but Judy didn't bat an eyelash. Within 5 minutes, Judy was sitting next to Cedar and he was trying to lick her face off. Judy's calm response and "take control" attitude in the face of Cedar's ferocity sold me and gave me confidence that she'd be the right fit for us. It's been about 6 weeks since that initial meeting and Cedar seems to have become at least 3 years younger - he's got a ton more energy & is much more playful. He's back to driving me bonkers with his energy & playfulness! We recommend Judy to everyone, but with the warning that you may have a brand new pet on your hands after she works her magic. I can't imagine anyone else making such a significant difference in Cedar's life (not to mention that she's very accommodating about our varied schedule). read more

I can't say enough about Judy. She has been walking my Frenchie for 5 years and as a single professional, I rely on her tremendously. My schedule is hectic and Judy is always flexible with my needs. I recently added grad school to the mix, and I am only able to do that because Judy is able to care for my dog. She also cares for my dog while I am on vacation, and didn't hesitate to take her to the vet while I was away when she noticed something wrong with her knee. I have nothing but positive things to say about Judy and woofs 'n purrs. It's been almost 3 years since Judy came into mine and Bailey's life and we wouldn't be where we are today without her care and attention. When Judy first started with Bailey, a rescue lab/boxer mix, she was still having issues walking on a leash, walking for an extended period of time and I so still keeping her crated during the day in between walks. She would chew anything in site! After a few months Judy helped convince me that we could together train her to not be crated during the day. Judy was relentless going back to the apartment 4 and 5 times a day checking on Bailey and reassuring her good behavior with love, hugs and attention. It didn't take long before Bailey was well behaved and out on her own in the apartment all day. No more crates! We couldn't have done it without Judy. Judy is an amazing loving caring woman who really cares for your pets. She puts them first and makes them feel secure and loved. She is always willing to jump in and help at the last minute with walks or boarding. I travel quite a bit for work and was always apprehensive about leaving my baby. That all changed when Judy came into our lives. She reassured me bailey was well looked after and probably got more attention while I was away. Judy would send texts, pictures and video, but more than anything when I got home I found a loving peaceful puppy who is as happy to be with Judy as she is with me. Judy has her out on long walks now after a very stubborn few months where Bailey would sometimes refuse to walk more than 2 blocks. When you have a stubborn 80lbs dog who refuses to walk its difficult to change her mind, but with Judy's relentless patience bailey is out for up to 45 minutes and longer at times. Judy was a godsend and I would recommend her services to anyone looking for a woman who truly cares for your pets!!! Bailey and I love Judy and woofs 'n purrs. My dog Petey and I recently moved to the neighborhood last fall. After the move Petey became anxious and just not himself. He seemed scared of almost everything and chewed up a lot of our belongings as soon as I would leave the house. I had noticed flyers around the neighborhood for Woof 'n Purrs and was already considering contacting Judy, when one Saturday while walking Petey she approached us and Petey immediately fell in love. Judy has worked with Petey and his anxiety has completely disappeared. Judy makes sure that he gets the most out of every walk. He is much more sociable and has tons of new friends in the neighborhood. I joke with my friends and family all the time, saying he has a better social life than myself! I have had previous walkers in the past, I can honestly say this is the only time I am completely at ease going to work because I know Judy has my dogs best interest at heart and i can trust her 100%. She sends me detailed texts letting me know how his walk was and I even get pictures and videos of some fun adventures they go on :) Not only does she love the animals but she is completely professional, organized and extremely educated on pet behavior, training methods and products that may benefit your dog (food, toys, treats, health, etc.). Petey is also a lot friendlier around other animals. I have hired trainer after trainer and no one has been able to accomplish that! In keeping with just the review, in all fair and honesty, I was not overly impressed with the services rendered, as they were okay. Verifiably, I was on a family trip for three days this past august, 2016. UPDATE: I'm new to updating reviews, as I have never had to deal with such mean people before. I'm not sure what she was talking about personally. Her allegations are slanderous and opinions that question her sanity at the time when she wrote her initial response. Record of her services I possess per the three days in August, 2016. My pets are my world, glad there is competition. In addition to a three star general review per the original not bad or good, Judy has decidedly chosen to slander, threaten my safety and make claims about the nice apartment building to which I reside. Also, the email messages sent to me, threatening me with unsavory acts will be dealt with democratically. Thankfully, I will not have to deal with her nastiness again nor will my animals be forced to deal with such a person either. Neighbors have varified she was rough with them when babysitting, as I have seen it for myself by coincidence thereafter. I would not recommend such a loose screw for watching any child, be it feline, canine or human. She cannot be too bright or sane to leave me such threatening messages. So glad I took a moment to read more thoroughly through what she is saying about me, in addition to the personal email threats sent to me, all of which will be documented and copies submitted to the proper authorities. read more

Judy has been a miracle worker for me, my dog and my household. My 4 year old dog Franny- after all this time never responded to any sort of training. She would pee all the time on pads- and have frequent accidents all over my furniture. It was terrible and caused a very tense and stressful living situation. Franny has only been working with Judy for 8 days and in that time- she hasn't had one accident and is completely house broken. Judy has also been working with Fran on her excessive barking and with me on being a better pack leader. The changes have been unbelievable- I would recommend Judy to anyone. If you're having issues with your dog or looking for a dog walker, I highly recommend Judy. I adopted Brandy, a dachshund lab mix, from a shelter out in Wantagh in December of last year. As a puppy, Brandy was a stray and then brought to a shelter and adopted by a family out in Suffolk, who later surrendered her. Brandy is a very loving, sweet and happy dog -- however, after having her for a few weeks she started to bark/growl at strangers and dogs on our walks. It got to the point where I was avoiding people on the street because I was afraid she would scare them -- Brandy may be a relatively small dog but she has the bark/growl of a hound. One night Brandy started barking at a dog across the street being walked by Judy -- Judy approached me and said she'd love to help me and that I could look her up on yelp if I was interested. A few weeks went by and I was still having issues with Brandy -- then one night she lunged at a man passing us by on the street. At that point I knew I needed to get some kind of training for Brandy and called Judy. In the three short months Judy has been walking Brandy, Brandy has done a complete 180. Brandy does not bark at people anymore and is getting better with other dogs. She even allows strangers to pet her and is very friendly with some of the dogs that live in the neighborhood -- in fact, Judy has started walking brandy with her dog Foxy and other dogs in the area (it's always Brandy and one other dog, Judy is not one of those people who walks five dogs at once) and I can see it's truly made a difference in Brandy. Foxy has absolutely helped Brandy feel more confident in approaching strangers and other dogs. While Brandy sometimes still barks at dogs, whenever I tell her to "stop" in the way Judy has taught me, Brandy corrects herself and stops barking. She's even becoming friends with a dog in our building with whom she previously had some not so pleasant interactions. All in all, if your dog needs help with behavioral issues or just needs some extra love, Judy is your woman! Judy truly cares for the dogs she walks and goes above and beyond -- she even has helpful tips on food, treats and vets in the area. Brandy loves every minute she spends with Judy (and Foxy!) and Judy has been instrumental in Brandy's adjustment to her new forever home. read more

There are not enough kind words to describe what Judy means to our family. We met her when our frenchie, Honey Bear was just a few months old and we were really struggling with potty training her. She came to our apt and discussed how important our energy was and how we all needed to be on the same page with her training. I couldn't believe my dogs immediate change in behavior! She was calm and sitting for Judy within minutes. She set up a schedule for us and began helping us with daily walks and training. She brings along her dog Foxy, who has helped our frenchie tremendously with socialization and manners. Judy is so thorough she sends texts after every walk letting us know how Honey did and how her training is going.
