My…read moreKiwanis club rents the upstairs lounge once a year to host the Buy Nothing Day Free Market in November for example. A pottery group rents the hall upstairs for their events. Helen is the wonderful woman who takes care of the building and she is wonderful. If she's unavailable or has to step out she'll leave contact information for someone more local to the hall in case you need anything. Helen is good at making sure that snow is cleared from walkways etc. as best as can be as quickly as possible given a major snowstorm. The hall is a little bit difficult to access if you're unfamiliar with it, but it has ample free parking, is close to transit and major roadways and is within walking distance of many facilities in the Old Strathcona area. I'm really fond of some of the more recent upgrades to the upstairs lounge: the improved lighting makes it much more of a wonderful area to host events, for example.

It's got wooden floors and mirrors across one wall, so I think it must be used for exercise classes and things of that nature, too. The perfect family-friendly place for this neighbourhood.

Walking in the front doors, there's a foyer area with a few tables set up for registration. There was a couch there too. The water fountain and washrooms were just down the hall. The washroom was clean and had 5 or 6 stalls. The venue was very large and there was room between us for dancing. The stage was great as we could see the instructors, even being farther back and lots of people could fit on the stage too. With the lights dimmed, it was fun to have the glow and dark effect. The theme was 80s so the neon colours really stood out. They had a few chairs on the side and lots of space to put our belongings. It was a fun event and a great venue for it.

Chairs and tables are of course certainly available of various dimensions depending on the function that is being held here. The new park at the community league is INCREDIBLE. There was so many novel things to do here…read moreincluding a swing for adults and babies at the same time! Great trees around to run in and the park is filled with squishy tires instead of sand. It's a great place to play and if you get bored, there's another playground across the street! The community league itself has been renovated and looks amazing outsides the landscaping is gorgeous. Lots of events through the year as well.

We went to use the stairs for some exercise and boy was it every nice! The sun was shining, the kids were hopped up on sugar from our outing to the D Spot Cafe, and it was a great afternoon spent here. We did the stairs which are straight up with quite a few landing areas and even some benches on some of the landings. They have a hill where you can toboggan in winter as well. There was a cute bridge and lots of walking paths in this area too if stairs are not your thing. But highly recommend this park and there are bathrooms which is important when you have littles, and it's wide open so easy to keep an eye on them as well.

Regardless of the unknown this space is awesome. Good bathrooms, an upstairs with balcony look downs, cool arched windows, and really beautiful thin wood floors. I feel like this would be a nice place to have a wedding or anniversary party as there is also a stage for bands and a kitchen area off the front.
