A friend of mine lives in this neighbourhood and invited me to bring my family along to an Easter Egg Hunt, being hosted by the Community League. No need to register, just wander around the play park gather at least 5 eggs then bring them back to swap for Easter chocolate. There were kids doing outdoor zumba to burn off all that chocolate too. It was very community orientated and such a lovely place to take little kids. The park itself is awesome, we went back yesterday to play basketball with our daughter although she was more interested in the climbing frame and the slides. The climbing frame is actually really cool and has a little stage to perform, if your kids are into that and a mp of Canada to make sure they know whih province they are in. Very educational and quiet!! There slightly bigger play area, basketball net, BBQ, covered seating and a spray park in summer too. It's got it all really, if you have a young family and want to hang out at a park that's not overflowing with kids... this is it!

We went to use the stairs for some exercise and boy was it every nice! The sun was shining, the kids were hopped up on sugar from our outing to the D Spot Cafe, and it was a great afternoon spent here. We did the stairs which are straight up with quite a few landing areas and even some benches on some of the landings. They have a hill where you can toboggan in winter as well. There was a cute bridge and lots of walking paths in this area too if stairs are not your thing. But highly recommend this park and there are bathrooms which is important when you have littles, and it's wide open so easy to keep an eye on them as well.

Last winter, I booked a holiday party for my team of healthcare workers at the hall. They confirmed my booking, so we started planning our holiday party. One week after they confirmed our booking, they emailed me to tell me they double booked the hall and cancelled my reservation. Understandably, I was upset. So I left a review saying I would not recommend them. I simply stated the facts, as noted above. I was totally willing to give them a second chance, so I attempted to book them 6 months in advance for our holiday party this year so there would be no chance for "double booking". To their credit, this time they were very efficient in refusing my request, stating because I left an honest review that I was not allowed to book their hall, even though they had no problem accepting my community league fees. There was a time when customer service was important, and if somebody screwed up, they would try to make it right. Apparently, according to Parkview Community League, their response to them screwing up is to blame the customer and ban them. So if you see a lack of negative reviews on this site, it's not because they provide a good experience, but more that they repress the truth and ban people for telling it.

There's also a parking lot with one handicap stall very close to the hall. It was a nice and sunny day and the had tables set up for serving the BBQ burgers and hot dogs. It's a great outdoor place with seating and picnic tables, and close to a playground. There's the large field and room for bouncy castles. There were garbages but they were definitely getting full from the BBQ plates. Inside the hall was an open gym space and I also saw a kitchen. The bathroom had 3 women's stalls and due to the number of people, there was a line up. It's always great to use the community halls and have great spaces close to home that can accommodate events and parties.

It was awesome, outdoor zumba with loud music and dancing! It was a fundraiser for the community league which is a great idea from the instructors. A few years ago before the hall was renovated, they had a craft day. What a great idea, I hope they do this again! We could scrapbook, or make cards for a day and they also provided dinner and snacks. Great event and great to meet people from the neighbourhood. I hope they consider doing this again. Now the hall is renovated and it's nice! The floor is nice, kitchen area big, and clean washrooms. It gets a little warm for zumba when we're all hot and sweaty but there's a door that can get the air flowing. Sometimes they have craft type shows there and the space isn't huge but it's cool to check out some vendors. The annual community league day is coming up with family activities and fireworks too! Great to have community leagues in the neighbourhood to offer great programming just outside the back door!

The hall is accessible via an alleyway from the neighbourhood and has a small amount of parking nearby along with a nice little playground beside it. The mural on the building is a nice touch too.

Meadowlark Community League spans over three decades of community service and programs. What it is…read moremost known for is the skating in the winter. The ice is professionally hand made (not a common art, for sure!) and well maintained. There is supervision at the rink at certain times on weekdays and weekends. The Family Day celebration here in February is worth a visit, with horse-drawn carriages, skating, food, and fireworks to top things off in the evening. The skating rink was recently renovated. When a rink attendant is present, there are washroom and changing facilities. Skating is free to community league members, and I think there is a nominal charge for non-members. Support this community and have some winter fun outdoors!

However, after our experience I can say that I highly recommend it as an event venue. The hall itself isn't fancy by any means but it is a great blank slate to add your personal touches. Once we had the linens and decor set up, it completely transformed the room. It also has a spacious bar/kitchen area which is perfect if your caterers need a place to heat things up. There is also a movable stage and enough round tables to seat more than 100 guests. The hall manager was amazing to work with. She was great at communicating everything we needed to know and made sure the stage and tables were set up for us the day of. I can't recommend this venue enough if you're on a budget and just need a nice space to host your event.

My…read moreKiwanis club rents the upstairs lounge once a year to host the Buy Nothing Day Free Market in November for example. A pottery group rents the hall upstairs for their events. Helen is the wonderful woman who takes care of the building and she is wonderful. If she's unavailable or has to step out she'll leave contact information for someone more local to the hall in case you need anything. Helen is good at making sure that snow is cleared from walkways etc. as best as can be as quickly as possible given a major snowstorm. The hall is a little bit difficult to access if you're unfamiliar with it, but it has ample free parking, is close to transit and major roadways and is within walking distance of many facilities in the Old Strathcona area. I'm really fond of some of the more recent upgrades to the upstairs lounge: the improved lighting makes it much more of a wonderful area to host events, for example.

This Ymca In Edmonton Was amazing! Had all the gym equipment one would need. Very clean and…read morespacious. The staff at front desk were very friendly. I got a day pass to work out and they ended up giving me a pass for the next day free. The dumbbells went up to 130 lb which was surprising for a ymca. They had a great area for dead lifting as well. Had a wonderful workout there and will for sure go back next time I'm in Edmonton. Thank you to the staff there for being awesome
