Especially since the pistol and rifle ranges at my club are outdoors, it's convenient to come here when it's super windy or super rainy. You don't have to be an NRA member to shoot here, but you do get a discount. Also, there are no gun rentals at this range -- if you wanna shoot, bring your own firearms. They also have range rules on what ammo you can shoot, and they will check your ammo before they assign you a range. Thankfully, they have ammo for sale if your ammo isn't shootable at the range, and/or you forgot your ammo. If it's your first time coming to the range, you will be required to take a range safety test (if you're an average shooter with common sense, it's nearly impossible to fail unless you're intentionally trying to fail). Once you pass, you get a range card that you have to pay for, but once you buy it, you never have to pay again (unless you misplace it). Also, ladies: I recommend coming out on Thursday night! Not only do you get a discount on your range reservation, but you also get a free range card on your first visit! All in all, the NRA HQ range is great. As long as you follow the rules, it is not a bad place to shoot.

The entire staff genuinely helped look for it and treated the situation like it mattered to them too. What really amazed me was that a few days later, I actually received a follow-up phone call asking if I had found my wallet. That kind of customer service is almost unheard of these days. Sadly, true customer service feels lost nowadays, so when a company goes above and beyond like this, it deserves to be recognized. Thank you to everyone there for your kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help. It truly meant a lot.

A huge shoutout to Brittany (Manager), who went above and beyond to help me identify exactly what I needed for my weapon. Her knowledge, patience, and ability to clearly explain my options made the process easy and comfortable. She also walked me through the differences between paying per visit, monthly membership, and the year-long membership. Because of her professionalism and guidance, I signed up for the year -- and I'm glad I did! I also want to thank Joe, who made a quick fix on my setup and had me good to go in minutes. His skill and friendly attitude truly stood out. This wasn't my first five-star visit either. I was here last Friday and received the same level of excellent service. I'm sorry I didn't catch the names of the two gentlemen who helped me then, but they were just as professional and supportive. Sharpshooters has earned my trust, my business, and my recommendation. If you're looking for a top-notch indoor range with a knowledgeable staff and great customer service, this is the place to go!

As an avid clay target shooter, finding a place to go (besides my gun club) was important, since my club doesn't have a Sporting Clays facility. A few people told me about Bull Run, and I visited for the first time back in October. I was impressed with the facilities. The county government runs the spot, and it is nice and clean! Pricing is fair. If you don't have a gun, you can rent one for an additional fee. If you need shells or bring shells that violate the rules of the range, there are boxes of shells you can buy on the premises. The one drawback I personally had thag doesn't directly affect me is if you bring someone who's never shot before, they will be required to do a mandatory safety course. The course isn't terrible, and my friend who has to do the safety course said it was very insightful. But if you don't have to do the course, but a friend does, you're gonna be waiting a hot minute before you guys can shoot together. Nevertheless, as someone certified as both a shotgun firearms instructor and an RSO, I value their commitment to ensuring everyone at Bull Run is safe.

It's close to my home (30 mins which isn't bad when you're in DC Metro region). 2. The facilities were incredible -- multiple archery ranges, a air pistol and rifle range that has produced a few Olympic athletes and often used hu the local schools air gun teams, a catch and release pond for fishing, campgrounds often used by the Boy Scouts in addition to members, a rifle and pistol range, and my personal fav and the one I use often (besides the archery range) is the trap/skeet fields. 3. This chapter is very involved with the community. From the aforementioned youth groups like Boy Scouts and HS air gun teams often partnering to use the facilities, to the wide array of educational courses offered throughout the year. They also hold other events like an annual picnic for people with disabilities, partnering with Fairfax County as a one location to do your archery test for the Fairfax County Parks & Rec Deer Archery Program, sanctioned ATA, NSSA, and USA Archery tournaments, and NRA Women on Target. When you join it'll be expensive as you pay the annual dues + the initiation fee. But as long as you keep up to date on the annual dues you won't have the pay the initiation fee again. You don't get your full range badge, which allows you to bring guests with you, until you complete your 6hrs of volunteer work. It's not hard and there's plenty of volunteer ops you can sign up for online. I was able to knock my 6hrs out pretty quickly. And if you do an additional several hours of work after getting full range privileges, you'll be able to get a discount on your annual dues next year. I've been to all but the air gun ranges and each facility is lovely. Everyone that is a regular is also nice so just come in with the right attitude and you'll have a fun time.

The rifle/pistol and skeet and trap facilities are very useable. The indoor air rifle/pistol facility has hosted several international matches and produced one Olympic Gold medal shooter and one other member of the Olympic team. It is the local site for the area high school teams. I shoot once a week and serve as a RSO once a month at the rifle/pistol range. The controlled rifle/pistol range might be a different environment for shooters who have frequented public ranges that have few safety controls and rules, but IWLA a much safer environment than I have ever encountered on public ranges in the area. My wife and grandkids were always welcome and enjoyed their time at the rifle/pistol range.

As a hesitant participant, who was gifted the Head start -- test the waters class, I was extremely nervous. Motorcycles are heavy machines. Instead of teaching with patience, the main instructor, Wayne, cursed at me and yelled whenever I made a mistake. Maybe he wasn't as harsh with everyone, but how he treated me made me feel unwelcome and singled out. I'm young, and while I can't say that was the reason, it's hard not to wonder if it played a part. The rules felt impossible. There was a moment where he was showing me something on my bike, I looked down to see what he was doing, and got scolded for looking down. Those kinds of contradictions happened over and over. Instead of helping me learn, the constant criticism just made me more nervous and more likely to mess up. By the end, I wasn't learning, I was just trying not to get yelled at again. It killed any excitement I had for motorcycles, and I never want to see one again. For a class that's supposed to welcome beginners, this was the opposite. The instructor seemed more focused on punishing mistakes rather than actually teaching, which makes the price feel completely unjustified. If you are a new rider hoping to gain skills and confidence, this is not the place for it. I strongly recommend finding a school where the instructors actually want to teach, guide, and encourage you. Anywhere else will be a better investment of both your time and money. Everyone deserves a learning environment where they feel safe, respected, and encouraged not one where they leave feeling anxious, belittled, and ready to give up entirely.

Andy emphasized safety and was kind enough to add on the Utah Concealed Permit course for those who were interested directly following the Conceal Carry Permit Class. I appreciated having an instructor that is professional and not only knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter, but who genuinely cares about his fellow citizens being able to defend themselves and practice their constitutional rights. I read a previous review mentioning race, and the insinuation is absurd. Eight out of ten students in the class were African American and Latino, and there were only two men in the class on that particular Saturday. Everyone was treated with inclusion, dignity, and respect. If you have any interest in taking the class, do so. It is money well spent, and you will have a great time and meet nice people.
