I have been going to WolfHill for years .My yard is full of beautiful plants and trees.The staff is educated on the perennials and plant food to apply as well.Ricardo helped me choose a beautiful bird feeder and put it in my car.I buy firewood that's bug free and dry every year. Bought 1/2 cord of kiln dried fire wood at the beginning of the season. Great wood. Just got 1/4 cord of Kiln dried wood to finish out the season. Wood is terrible. Wet and moss on it so it could not have been kiln dried. Very hard to light and keep going. Very disappointed. Confusinfg too. I ordered the wood from Gloucester but it was delivered from Ipswich. read more

Update: Wolf Hill did contact me, and offered to refund me for the cost of the wood that I purchased. Apparently, the wood that I purcahsed WAS kiln-dried, but was just not stored carefully. This is from thier email to me: "Unfortunately, we do store our kiln dried firewood outside, so it does get exposed to all weather elements. We do keep it covered with a tarp, but that doesn't help if the wind whips it off, or if it is the end of the pile that could have been sitting in contact with the ground. Kiln dried firewood soaks up the moisture very quickly because it is so dry - even just humidity can affect the quality of the wood. Due to this, once we receive a shipment of the kiln dried wood we try to get it out to our customers as soon as possible so that they can store it in their enclosed storage areas. " So, if you're taking a large delivery, perhaps thier kiln-dried wood is fine. However, if you're just buying a small bundle for immediate use, steer clear. There are plenty of other places that sell small bundles of kiln-dried wood that is stored properly. This feels a bit like a bait-and-switch, since the sign adverstising thier wood prices is posted on a small shed where the wood IS stored properly to keep it dry. After I paid for the wood inside, I was suprised to see that I was given wet wood that had been sitting on the ground in the back of the lot, instead of from the small woodshed. I appreciate that they contacted me and offered me a refund, but I still feel that other people should be warned about this, so that they do not find themselves with a smoke-filled house, like we did. read more

A bit pricey but I wish this business was closer to where I live as I would visit all the time. read more

Tyler Chaffee was our primary contact for firewood. We have ordered 2 seasoned cords this season, one at the start of the heating season, and one three days ago. Both cords were delivered as promised, but neither were seasoned. Seasoned firewood, by industry standards, is at or below 20% moisture. Neither cords were seasoned, as evidenced by our moisture meter tests, and lack of wood "checking", both of which are indicators of seasoned firewood. We noticed that the wood would not catch fire in our stove, and when we put it on an already primed stove with hot coals, that it would hiss and leak sap profusely, at all times during the season. We contacted Wolf Hill the first time, and they made it right by paying for a chimney sweep to account for the creosote build up that comes from burning unseasoned wood. On our second try, we received semi-seasoned wood again (39% moisture), and called Tyler. Tyler made many excuses for the result we were observing in burning the wood and inferred that we were in the wrong with our observations. He never trusted our feedback. Tyler said that we shouldn't rely on the moisture meter in the cold, so we took a pile of wood and placed it next to our stove for 5 hours. It was warm to the touch and we took the reading again. 39% moisture. 39% moisture in split firewood constitutes, by definition, semi-seasoned wood. This is wood that will catch fire in a hot stove but is not worth $400 per cord. The creosote buildup from burning semi-seasoned wood is a fire hazard. The premium price of $400/cord should provide the customer with the opportunity to explain their observations and data associated with the complaint, which we were not provided. This is marketing fraud at its finest. If you want seasoned wood (20% moisture or below), look elsewhere, because Wolf Hill is not honest about the quality of its seasoned firewood, and is reluctant to receive customer feedback. I have pictures and videos documenting the quality of this wood (moisture meter readings and actual burning of the wood with sap pouring out) and would appreciate if the owners of this business, James and John McKechnie, would be in touch. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service. I was buying two wicker chairs and a table and cushions and could not get any help with moving and loading the chairs. Staff didn't seem to know anything about the cushions etc. frustrating read more

Our favorite holiday garden center! We have been shopping at wolf hill for almost 20 years for all our holiday decorating. The people have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. At Christmas time the younger people were always so patient as I like to look at a lot of trees to get to the perfect one! read more

I have shopped there for the last decade or more and their prices are the same as any other nursery. Their stock is good and their service excellent. You get what you pay for in life. I have done a good deal of professional landscaping and use them for my projects and they have always been fair and provided me with good service. read more

Love the selection but the staff is down right horrid. Very rude younger folks running around in skin tight Yoga pants and seem to be running the show with smirks on their faces. Went here on Wed 5/25/17 and the staff was all around unwelcoming. The cashier in the small shack became angry because I asked for our military discount "after" she rung us up. She said "wish you had told me sooner! now I have to ring everything up again!" I was a bit taken aback as she was older and "should" know better. It was also embarrassing as there was another customer right next to me. Maybe a sign to have your ID at the ready might help customers in the future? Then the young Latino guy directing us out (as the place was over crowded with wholesale business) almost had a melt down as we must of taken too long to follow his direction. We were only trying to let the wholesale trucks by us. Lots of head and eye rolling and overly patronizing hand movements directing us out. Relax boy, as your job is a CHOICE and not an entitlement. Please hire some adults who actually want to work and are mature enough to leave the entitled pissy attitude at home and NOT bring it to work! Thanks read more
