I've been frequenting this location for a while now and I'm glad to say that their food is back on track. I was thankful when I found out that they have many gluten-free options. Most of their dishes can be made with GF soy sauce, unless it is pre-marinated like the Mongolian beef. The chow fun and fried rice are some of the many options so be sure to ask your server. Their happy hour seems on par with other restaurants, and they offer a lot of food selections. I popped in to get grab some food to go, but was glad to see the bar area was full of customers. I've been here a few times over the years and it's always good enough. Last night my husband and I got our go to, garlic noodles with chicken, and I noticed that they've changed the chicken. Before they would give you a grilled chicken breast. Now it's just lumps of soft chicken thighs. It was not an upgrade and an obvious attempt to save money. Arizona Gas Station Sushi location of a chain "Safe, Generic SCV Sushi"... until it tried to kill us I genuinely thought this place was going to be the definition of safe, cookie-cutter, "nothing special but fine" sushi. I used to come here all the time.I loved it! I was wrong. We paid the price. In every way imaginable. The Roll That Started the Apocalypse My daughter (7) had a Philadelphia roll last night. You know the sushi equivalent of ordering toast. It's basic. It's supposed to be foolproof. She kept saying she wasn't into it and I did the classic parent move: "She's just being picky." She's not picky. She's perceptive. When she was almost done, I tried it and it was BAD. Not "meh" bad. Not "kinda warm" bad. Spoiled bad. Like "this fish is auditioning for a true crime documentary" bad. I tried to talk to the manager because, minor detail, this isn't safe to serve to human beings. He removed the Philadelphia roll from my bill and hit me with: "Have a great night." Sir... I'm not here for a coupon. I'm here because you're serving people spoiled salmon. He brushed it off. On my way out, an employee asked if everything was okay. I said: "No -- I think I just ate bad salmon. This is definitely less than I expected." We made a reservation for 9:00 PM on Father's Day, anticipating a busy evening. We arrived a little before our reservation time, expecting a smooth experience since we had booked ahead. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait by the receptionist. What was confusing was that there were plenty of vacant tables visible, and we noticed other guests--some without reservations--being seated ahead of us. After waiting about 30 minutes with no update, we approached a different receptionist (the one we originally spoke to was no longer there), and we were seated immediately. It left us wondering what the purpose of the reservation was, as the delay didn't seem necessary. Once seated, however, things turned around. Our server, Kiki, was absolutely wonderful--very pleasant, attentive, and accommodating. Her great service really helped make up for the earlier confusion. As for the food: we ordered the Singaporean noodles, Young Chow fried rice, and the truffle roll--all of which were delicious. The truffle roll in particular stood out. Overall, while the initial experience with the reservation and wait time was disappointing and confusing, the quality of the food and Kiki's excellent service helped turn the evening around. The calamari is delicious here always, I love the amount of scallions and jalapeños added for that extra bite! The sweet and sour soup was OK, kind of bitter which surprised me, we did not enjoy it. The salad with wontons and ginger dressing was fresh and delicious, highly recommended! We also had the garlic wings which were good but did not have a hint of garlic at all and the tempura roll which was warm and didn't taste very fresh. I asked for my garlic noodles to have chicken thigh meat which they've done in the past but server said they didn't do that. I just didn't want dry chicken breast meat but it wasn't dry thankfully. Although we were on a slight time crunch due to several meetings after lunch hour, our food came out just in time and it tasted great. This 5 is really a 4.5 for only one reason, more on which is below. We were a big group and were looking for somewhere easy and different to grab a late lunch in Valencia. My previous visits to Wokcano after they first opened at the Valencia Town Center were very positive, so I suggested we just stop in and get a table. They don't take reservations and we were there at an off time so the enormous restaurant was mostly open and allowed us to sit wherever we wanted to. There are three or four very large and airy rooms and the atmosphere is dark, sort of glowy, a bit mysterious, and sophisticated (see the photos). The menu is extensive and largely composed of Chinese dishes, a few Sushi offerings and one Thai. That is my only disappointment. In the past there was a more properly Asian Fusion selection with a broader range of countries to sample (such as Vietnam and Korea, for example). Still, because we have few decent Chinese restaurants in Santa Clarita, I anticipated a very satisfactory meal, and it was. What I wasn't prepared for was the size of the dishes -- generous, to say the least. We had boxes and boxes of food to take home. Our super friendly and professional server, John, was always available and on his own brought containers and a sturdy shopping bag to take away the leftovers. The food was just right: hot enough, varied, fresh, delicious, and well seasoned so each item had its own unique character, lending just the right amount of variety to the meal. We were all vegetarians, vegans, and pescatarians so everything was either vegetable, tofu, or fish. I will label each dish in my photos. The place had just the right acoustics. It was filling up by the time we were halfway through our meal, which was no surprise as Wokcano has survived in this location since The Patios were added to the Town Center in 2008. It appears to be thriving. Finally, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we got. I was pleasantly surprised by all of it. So, in sum, great service, cool atmosphere, clean, delicious food, and a sizeable and varied menu. If they could add a few more Szechuan and even Hunan dishes that would be ideal. And, maybe, a few more Asian countries could be represented on a rotating basis as "specials" to truly fulfill the fusion concept. We will be back! read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for like 13 years for dinners with friends, birthdays and many dates. The food and the service are literally the best at this location. All the parties I've had, they have accommodated 25-30 person parties for me and the service was awesome. My favorites are the wicked lady sangria, monkey brain, albacore garlic sashimi, spicy tuna hand roll, crazy fried rice , honey walnut shrimp and chicken curry over rice. Subject: Disappointed Longtime Customer -- Poor Service Experience at Valencia Location To Whom It May Concern, I'm writing as a loyal customer who has frequented the Wokcano location in Valencia for over 10 years -- often dining in at least every other week. Unfortunately, a recent experience has left my party and me extremely disappointed, to the point that we've decided not to return to that location. During our most recent visit, we placed our usual order, which included a special request for the kids' butter noodles -- something I've requested many times over the years without issue. I had no problem paying the $2 difference, but the server seemed to take issue with the request and escalated it to the manager, Danny V. Instead of approaching the situation with professionalism or courtesy, Danny V came to our table with an aggressive and condescending tone. We were shocked by his demeanor. He informed us that the restaurant had changed its policy a few months ago, which we understood -- but since we were unaware of the change, we politely asked if an exception could be made just this one time, with the understanding that going forward, we'd follow the new policy. Rather than having a constructive conversation, he insisted "this is the policy" and dismissed our concerns, speaking to us as if we were trying to argue over a $2 discount -- when all we wanted was to enjoy our meal. His tone and body language were so off-putting that we ended up leaving the restaurant without eating. We had come to spend a nice evening and order quite a bit of food, not to be spoken to with disrespect. It's incredibly disappointing to be treated this way after over a decade of loyalty. A simple, kind explanation would have been enough. Instead, the whole experience made us feel unwelcome, embarrassed, and frustrated. We won't be returning to the Valencia location, and I sincerely hope you address this issue with your staff so other customers don't have to experience the same. I went to dinner here a couple nights ago. I have dined here for years, but this wasn't the best experience. I called ahead and spoke to the manager about having a gluten allergy and asking what my options are (very limited) they don't cater to the gluten free community. They told me the sashimi and the fried rice, pad Thai, and a chicken and mushroom dish can all be made gluten free. Upon arrival I notified my server, she seemed to understand what a gluten allergy is.. I explained I can't have soy sauce. I ordered the chicken fried rice (gluten free) as a meal with soup, and salad. I also had the minced chicken lettuce wraps (gluten free) The chicken lettuce wraps didn't have a lot of flavor compared to other places I've been. The soup came out and was great, the salad had wonton chips on top. That's not gluten free - I scarped them off. The fried rice came out without chicken. I asked for chicken, and another server brought some by. I asked if it was gluten free and he responded "no" He took it back to the kitchen and 20 minutes later brought what he said was gluten free chicken. By then I'd finished everything else and my rice was cold. My friend ordered 2 California rolls and she ate a few and said they were "just ok"' My other friend ordered the pad Thai and it came out a massive portion, she took the rest home. My other friend ordered the chicken teriyaki with green beans and a side of rice- he was happy with the dish. The ambiance is dark and moody, good for a date or the bar has happy hour. I wouldn't bring families or a large group with kids- not the best atmosphere for them. Over all I probably won't be back, because I'm extremely limited on what I can order there. I ordered a hot green tea, and my friends and I asked for water refills but didn't receive them. My friend enjoyed a glass of Pinot noir. The prices are expensive for what you're served and the quality. Please train your servers on what gluten free means (wheat, breading, soy sauce) There's a disconnect from the kitchen with the wait staff. This was disappointing because I've been coming for years and really enjoyed other noodle, chicken and beef dishes. Wakcano was one of my families favorite restaurants to go to we'd been going there for years. The last time we went we had a very different experience. For starters, the restrooms were dilapidated. Stall doors were broken, tiles were falling off and cracked and it was not clean at all. In waiting for a stall as one two were usable, I struck up conversation with a woman who was equally shocked by the condition of the restrooms. She ended up speaking to the manager about it. Then came the long wait times our server was nice and attentive but everything was delayed from drinks to apps to our meal. We ordered a Moscow mule and it did not come in the copper cup, this was due to theft of the cups so they only keep them on display. Half of our food was bland and inedible and the food that was eaten gave us food poisoning the following morning. We spoke to manger specifically to give feedback on the restrooms. A bald Caucasian man is who we spoke to who was hiding in the bad of the restaurant he was not phased one bit by any of it. Such a shame that a beautiful and once great restaurant is so poorly managed. We will not be returning and fully recommend you skipping this place. read more

My friends and I came here last night for one of my friends birthday dinners. This is one of his favorite places. This was my first time coming here. We had about a 20 minute wait for 8 people and 3 babies. We arrived just in time for happy hour but they didn't mention that happy hour was only for one certain area of the restaurant which was kind of disappointing. Our food came out pretty fast. I ordered the crunchy roll, a side of fried rice and a margarita. Everything tasted great! The crunchy roll was delicious and so was the margarita, it was pretty small but it definitely was strong! I tried a little bit of my friends orange chicken, it was good and I also tried someone else's garlic noodles, which was decent. We all split a crème brûlée cheesecake for my friends birthday, it was gone in about 30 seconds (literally) so I was not able to get a picture haha. They were separating them to 2 and 2 sitters in which she could have just did to accommodate us for 50tg bday for my brother .
