We ordered carry out tonight. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, but it came without any sauce. It's just breaded chicken. What a bummer!!! It's what makes the dish. The rice wasn't great. The egg roll was pretty good at least.

Pint of shrimp chip suey with only three pieces of shrimp

I went to Wok Inn on Thursday, Sept 16 to place a carry out order of four eggrolls and A pint of shrimp chop Suey. You cannot go into the restaurant, they catch you at the door and you have to place the order outside. The person taking the order was very cold And very upset for some reason. When she totaled the bill, the four eggrolls and pint i've chop Suey cost $21 ! I know restaurants are hurting but I will never be going there ever again. See the attached pictures. all of three small pieces of shrimp and mostly rice which is cheap. I live only eight minutes from the restaurant and when I got home the eggrolls were actually cold so they must've been made earlier and sitting on a table somewhere. The person taking the order said that it has not changed ownership but I never saw her before and she said she owned the place. She then brought the order and put it on the table and said there you go and walked away not even a thank you. I have been going to this restaurant for at least 30 years and today was my last time. please see the pictures, you'll see what I mean. if I could give zero stars I would. Something has changed, but they lost me as a customer forever. As you can see from the pictures it is not worth $21 plus they wanted a tip.

Pad Thai could use a little flavor
    Mark C.

Old restaurant almost typical food. The service was good. The food was ok just needed a little flavor . The same old combo soup egg drop or wonton , egg roll and entree. I had the pad Thai nice helping but could have used some salt. The egg roll was typical egg roll and same with the soup. The fortune cookie at the end had no crunch. The best part of the pad Thai was was the noodles those were cooked perfectly. Also the peanuts were crunchy not soggy like some I had elsewhere .

Now, my first impression of 1st Wok was a hesitant one. It's not set in the best of plazas. There closed businesses that surrounded them. I didn't know if I should get out of the car but I did. When entering the establishment again I was hesitant. It's not the best looking restaurant. Definitely needed a paint job. There were 3 booths for dining in but they were taken up by supply boxes, one of their kids was watching their tablet and the other booth had a child sleeping in it. I hadn't planned on eating there anyway. There was a customer there waiting for their meal. I asked him if he came here often and he said yes with no hesitation. He said the food was good. Ok. The woman behind the counter was very nice. I asked questions about the food, especially the ABC, Almond Boneless Chicken, a specialty in Michigan Chinese restaurants and she answered every question with pleasure. I ordered the ABC combo which consisted of chicken fried rice, almond boneless chicken, a chicken/pork egg roll & chicken flavored gravy. The price was reasonable. When I got home and opened the foam container there was so much food I couldn't believe it. Definitely worth the price. Now, how does it taste. The egg roll was a little different. Crunchy on the outside with a different consistency on the inside but tasty. I've never had a chicken/pork egg roll before. It was bad. I had asked for plain fried rice instead of chicken fried rice and that's what I got. It was a mountain of rice, enough for 3 or 4 people!! WOW!! There had to have been a least 10 pieces of crispy chicken with green onion pieces on top. Again, enough for 3 people. The gravy, though different to me was very good on top of the chicken and rice. This was an excellent meal. I ate this combo dinner for 3 days in a row and every day I ate it was a treat. Tasted like day one. Overall..... The Almond Boneless Chicken (ABC) combo meal was really good and tasty, all 3 days!! Despite the dingy environment, I'm going back to try something else. Maybe beef pepper steak this time. Give 1st Wok a try. The ABC is really good!! Peace and Good Food

It seems they have a new chef, or new recipes? The Cashew Chicken the last two times had raw pale cashews instead of pan-roasted. The main vegetable, celery, was completely raw and crunchy. But the worst part was the sauce: they left it out two times in a row. It was water. Just water. No salt, no soy sauce, nothing but water on raw cashews. What happened? I tried cooking it but you know, it's a matter of taking each piece of chicken out so it won't get overcooked, heating the wok, drying the celery and cashews after taking them out of the water, so I can get the expected sear, etc. The thing is, I GOT CARRY-OUT SO I WOULDN"T HAVE TO COOK. A side note: I ordered the same dish at another restaurant, one I'd never tried before. Their celery was cooked, but they, too, had put plain water as the "sauce" and and no discernable seasoning. What is going on? Am I missing something? Are they now selling meal "kits" you're supposed to cook, season, and sauce before eating? If so, can they leave the water out?

It was a huge portion of steaming hot fried rice and a decent helping of chicken lo mein. Unfortunately the chicken lo mein was coated in a very sweet hoisen sauce, thick and super sweet. This is not really the typical lo mein kind of sauce that I was expecting. The dish was mostly noodles, chicken and sauce. There were three snow pods in the meal and two matchstick carrots. As I lifted the noodles, the whole bottom was swimming in that sweet hoisen sauce.
