We stumbled on this place after getting recommendations from the staff at our hotel. It is a "Hole in Wall" right in the heart of Chinatown. We were staying at the Fairfield down the street. When we went in at 8 pm, they were not that busy. But, they did get busy soon after. We were seated right away. There was also a constant flux of To Go Drivers coming to pick up their orders. There were also several people arriving after the Capitals Ice Hockey game. It was good sign because this place was popular. We ordered Egg Drop Soup. It was delicious. We also ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Shrimp Lo Mein. Both dishes had plenty of shrimp. We would definitely come back in the future.

First time here and man was it fun! Really enjoyed the bar staff who were kind and helpful even when they were slammed. Appreciated that! We reserved a small karaoke room for just 3 of us and it was clean, working well, and plenty of space for up to 6 people. We had some drinks and ordered general tso chicken and kung pao chicken. The portions were hugeeeee - worth the 20 something for each - and very yummy. We were happily impressed.

Don't let this little hole in the wall fool you. Food was fast and fresh. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. While I can't speak to the karaoke bar, that's a nice addition connected to the business. With Momiji closing, this should become your new go-to spot for quick and good sushi in the area.

Iconic. We stumbled upon Wok and Roll intrigued by their sushi and karaoke promotional posters outside. At first glance this place can look a bit iffy from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised. The place was POPPING at midnight. There were so many people which you know means the food and vibes are good. The sushi was great and the fried rice to die for. And don't get me started on the frozen daiquiris THEY WERE DELICIOUS. It did take a little long to get our check after we were done, but they were busy and it was a good place to hang out anyways. Did not get a chance to try the karaoke so we will have to come back!

They have the rudest late night staff who are only worried about when they get off. The service decreases as the night goes on...not worth the money. I do not recommend as a DMV place to go. The environment seem as if they only serve a specific type. I hate leaving negative reviews but needed to share.

Salmon and tuna rolls. I do NOT recommend ordering uncooked food (eg sushi).

Since I had a sushi craving (and the other place I wanted to visit was very crowded), I stopped by Wok and Roll for a sushi fix. I probably should have read others Yelp reviews before stopping in, but I was in starvation mood. I should have trusted my gut and turned around when I saw that someone from inside of the restaurant has to buzz you into the main part of the restaurant. I brushed this concern aside because I know this part of DC (Chinatown-Gallery Place) can get a little random at night, and the owners probably do not want randoms causing problems. Upon entering, folks at the various tables looked. happy with their food, so I at first, I was not too concerned about the food. For my dinner, I went with a salmon roll, tuna roll, and shumai. I'm really sorry, but the sushi was absolutely disgusting. The salmon and tuna tasted old and had a weird oder. After eating two pieces from each roll, I considered this meal a loss. I probably should have said something to my waitress and/or management, but I really did not feel like having a back and forth. Also, I was not really up to it because my stomach was feeling a little weird. At least the shumai was not too bad....but it was not all that great. Something told me that I should have gone with Wok and Roll's Chinese food menu rather than my sushi selection. After struggling through my sushi rolls, I noticed that everyone else in the restaurant was eating Chinese food items. I guess this is one of those places where you ONLY eat their cooked food...probably the more fried/cooked, the better. Fortunately, the service was pretty fast so I did not have to stick around for a very long time. As one can tell, I more than likely will not return to this restaurant...at least for sushi. Maybe the Chinese food items are a bit better.

Good authentic Chinese food located in the heart of Chinatown [Washington D.C.] While traversing in DC's Chinatown our tummies started hankering for food and we decided to stop at this restaurant. After stepping inside their main door an employee had to let us in another screened door. At almost 2:00p the restaurant was not too busy and we were seated immediately. The menu had the dishes listed in Chinese with the English version next to it. We ordered a couple of items, just enough to last us through dinner without bringing back leftovers with us. We chose Wonton soup and Combination Chow Mein (Pan Fried Egg Noodle). Prices were reasonable and the chow mein was delicious. Service was fast and attentive. The restaurant is also a karaoke with private rooms so I'm thinking the Wok and Roll is a pun of what they offer LoL ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Review #3655

Really satisfied the craving for Chinese food and sushi. The sushi felt very well made with good quality fish. The rice portions were a bit large. We trust it for ordering simple rolls and hope to try more elaborate sushi offerings in our next order. For the Chinese food, its the type of restaurant that really excels at wok, hence the name. The chow foon had a wonderful chewy texture, sweet soy seasoning, well velveted and tender protein, and best of all, wok hei smokey flavor. We found that to be the best and probably other dishes prepared in that style. Orange chicken was not what we expected as it comes with a red sauce but we greatly appreciate it for its large portions. Everything we ordered satisfied our cravings and we encourage more dishes with traditional flavors or classic technique like stir fries.

Great, quality sushi spot! They are also open on the later side so it's perfect for a late night sushi craving. Their Seaweed Salad is my favorite and a massive portion size! I also highly recommend their Spicy Crunchy Shrimp Roll but really you can't go wrong with anything!

    CRAB MEAT WONTON(8) - $9.50

We came here for a late night snack. Other restaurants had a long wait, but at Wok and Roll, we were able to get seated immediately. It's a bit concerning that they have an extra door inside with a keypad to enter and exit the restaurant, but I'm guessing they've been burned too many times, so safety first. Prices are quite reasonable for the area. There was a good variety on the menu - appetizers, soups, noodle dishes including ramen and udon, lunch specials, entrees, and sushi. They also have an extensive drink selection. We ordered the crab meat wontons ($9.50 for eight pieces), yellowtail roll ($6.95), and shrimp nigiri ($6.95 for two pieces). Crab meat wontons were fried perfectly golden brown and weren't too greasy. Filling in general was on the skimpy side and the cream cheese presence was faint. It came with a side of hot mustard and duck sauce. Our sushi order was made quickly, but the food is nothing to write home about. It's decent for the price point. Service was kind and adequate. We were checked on throughout the night and the pacing was good. I think the main draw here is their karaoke bar. There were also several pick-up orders in place, so it could be a reliable carryout option.
