Waste Management does not do a good job in Fitchburg. They never pick up the yard waste on schedule. It has gone from being done 1 day late to 2 or more days late. I can understand delays in the winter if there is a snowstorm but it's May now! They come before the crack of dawn for the regular trash with their big noisy trucks and wake people up before 6 AM, not caring about noise ordinances, so they should have plenty of time to pick up the yard waste as well. And when they don't you can't call them directly, you have to leave a message with the City, which is inefficient and wastes the time of city employees dealing with problems they did not create. Hazardous waste days are also poorly managed. You have to go out to Westminster. There should be a convenient location in the city for people who don't own a car. And some of the staff are control freaks. One woman yelled at my kid for throwing rocks in a pond. She said it was not safe even though no one else was around. If skipping stones is so risky I guess a lot of people on this planet love to live dangerously! They should worry about getting their job done on time and not sweat the small stuff. read more
