Never have had any problems @ McCourtney. All staff there have been polite & professional, which can be challenging in the best of times, next to impossible currently w/CV-19 dominating our lives. The "cardboard rude-dude" I had heard about was a bit gruff the first time I had to interact w/him, but I simply told him I was there to "leave my cardboard one way or another, w/or without his help," and politely told him that "he could either show me where to put it (the bins all appeared to be full) or I was going to dump it right where I was parked." He quickly shut up, stopped the attitude, pointed at a spot near the big semi-trailer and quietly went back to sit on his fork-lift, watching me while I unloaded. The other employees (Yard Waste, C&D, Scrap Metal etc.) almost always walk over w/o being asked & offer to help me unload if it's slow, which is greatly appreciated, and definitely not something they have to, or should do. *Would be great though if there was some type of live/real-time "traffic cam" available on their web site. Loaded our work truck Sunday, used my lunch break to shoot out there, but ran into a line of dump traffic backed-up from the land-fill entrance all the way back (1/2-mile?) to Thoroughbred Loop. Whipped a U-ey and drove back to work in Nev City. (Not to mention anyone living/traveling on McCourtney West-bound for non-dump reasons could NOT safely get around this line of vehicles w/o driving 1/2-mile in the wrong lane into head-on traffic or waiting 45-minutes until they cleared the traffic jam past the dump entrance). Now our work truck remains loaded w/garbage for 2 xtra days as they're closed Mon/Tues. Not their fault it's that busy, but would love a way to know ahead of time (if it already exists, I can't find it) how long the line/wait is before driving out, burning gas & time, only to be turned away. Thanks for the hard work to provide this facility and (affordable) service/s. D. Strawser read more

My first trip to the dump with my hubby. I was so impressed with the cheerful employees at the check-in/check out stations. The staff were prompt and the line went through quickly. The price was reasonable. They definitely deserve more than the rating shows! I would give 10 stars if I could. Keep up the good work WM read more

While I read many reviews that hate WM, I must say my experiences have been very positive both with weekly pickup and the transfer station(dump). People are always friendly and willing to discuss anything. read more

Date: 8 Mar 25 / Time: 1030ish First time to this transfer station, and not real familiar with the area, but it's easy to get to. When I arrived I pulled up and stopped at what I assume was an employee area, not the place I was supposed to go. Walked in the trailer and explained to the gentlemen in room, and a supervisor I believe, it was my first time there. They helped got me sorted out, nice bunch of guys. Then headed to the scale and spoke with a very polite and friendly lady, again explained it was my first time. She took my license, loaded me in the system and verified my address via a utility bill. She then explained precisely where I need to go. For trash it's to the right and pull up to one of the stalls. Drove down to the warehouse dumping area and spoke with two very helpful employees and said again, first time here, and once again they explained what to do. Toss that trash on the floor, easy enough! Once finished I headed back up to the exit scales and again was met by a very friendly lady got me checked out. For someone who had no idea, I truly it was a seamless process based on the professional, polite and friendly employees. I'd say start to finish, maybe 20 min (was unloading things by myself). Others may have different experiences, but it was the easiest thing I've done this week. Cheers to the guys and gals out there doing this job, you're professionals in my book. read more

This place is awful and the employees are EXTREMELY rude. Unfortunately, it's the only place in this entire town.

The transfer station I On wolf road is with a doubt the worst operation I have ever seen 2.5 hours to dump pine needles maybe that is why people dump by the road read more

Logistical nightmare. Piss poor management has caused this place to be a nightmare to use. Hours long wait times on a regular basis is unacceptable. And they wonder why we have so many people dumping their garbage all over town. Recruit some Chick-fil-A management & get it together! read more

We've seen other people get ripped off and we have been ripped off. They create their own prices by eyeballing your vehicle. Totally ridiculous. They now charge for Greenwaste which the mulch and sell for profit. Paying them to make money off of you. Not sure where else to go though. Good luck out there. read more

Jacked up their prices and slowed down their line to a crawl by forcing basically every vehicle to get weighed on the exit scale as well so they can shake you down for more money. Used to be fairly priced even if the line was long. Apparently management has decided life hasn't been expensive enough for all of us lately. read more

Let's be real, if you have to go on Yelp to complain about a dump, it's gotta be bad. Talk about the most unorganized place ever. It feels like it's ran and employed by the same characters in the movie The hills have eyes. The directions on where to go that the staff provides you with is ridiculous. They act like you are an employee. There's long lines to get in the place and long lines to leave the place. Makes me want to just burn all my dump run stuff. Avoid at all costs...... read more

Coming from Santa Rosa California, this place is much cheaper than the dump in Santa Rosa. Moved up to a rural area in Grass Valley and am happy to be so close to this place. read more

Not only did they accept my sketchy soaked heavy trash bags dripping with what I said was maple syrup but the guy pointing directing the lines hopped in and did a full service job I even asked how much and they responded "how much do you think that load of trash is worth for you " in and out in less then 20 min and 3500$ richer read more

Need to go during the week, 5 minute wait. Don't need to smell it for long. Employees were wearing masks.

this place has no regards for others time. I have been sitting in like for over 30 minutes now, and the line hasn't even moved. the owner hasn't even claimed this place as his business, so all these reviews are debatably pointless. honestly it's worth it just to drive to Auburn or Roseville at this point. this place is a joke. read more

So they're doing work on the pit and railings, which is causing backups of course. Then I see one employee let a car through cones then stopped, then he takes a couple of bags out of the hatchback and tosses them. I noticed that car had a handicap license plate. Then the same employees jogs over to the side with temp dumpsters and helps a couple trucks with a couch, and then back to more bags of trash. THEN runs back down to the entry line to me to ask what I have, which was just one bag, which he asks to take and dump so I can head out. I know they work hard there, but this guy was giving it more than the Jr college try for sure. Take your time, be patient, look before you his the gas and drive around, and you can really help these guys out during their reconstruction. read more

This place needs a visit from the department of weights and measures. A very dishonest place. I will go one more time. I will first go to a recently certified scale before and after. Send the documentation to the state. The county could probably be a cleaner place if people weren't dumping along side the roads or in the forest if this place wasn't ripping people off. read more

The staff is NOT friendly at this place. I keep seeing the comment/review, "staff super friendly and helpful." What? Am I missing something? I came in with a U-Haul full of old furniture in a pick-up. I am a 41-year-old woman, I was by myself...not one single worker came over to the pit to help me. I lifted and chucked my old dresser, and broken kitchen table, etc. by myself!! THEN when I came out to the booth afterward to pass through, the attendant (who also works at the recycle area often) was flirtatious toward me, which was not appreciated after I just busted my ass unloading my junk, by myself. GET A LIFE. The same guy does this when I go to recycle, he sits there and watches me (this is before COVID-19 too, mind you) and does not lift a damn finger to help get the line moving..then he continues to stare, flirts, and proceeds to nauseate me further..the dude needs a Xanax or something. I loathe this place, and sadly, they are just as horrible at the Auburn station and Truckee. I think it's in the water they spray over the trash. Bird shit fumes... read more

I have no complaints about my roadside pickup from Waste Management. When I need to go to the transfer station I experience anger and frustration. Normally I am there with yard waste. I have found that I pay about the same rate for yard waste as I do for garbage. Once Waste Management has your yard waste it is loaded on a truck and sold to soil makers. Your garbage is taken to Wheatland and buried at significant expense. Waste management collects $ for the yard waste . I refer to it as their "cash cow " program. The effect on the community is that it punishes folks who are trying to make their homes fire safe. Many cannot afford the rates and have no other option but to leave it as a hazard or burn it, an unfavorable option. Waste management is in it for the $ only...the CEO gets a bonus for keeping costs down which means the workers and customers come second...or third. Sad that we are less fire safe so that W.M. can enjoy greater profits. BE AWARE that you pay LESS for the yard waste collected from your yard waste bins than taking it to the transfer station. Ridiculous! read more

The people at the landfill are always nice and respectful...I appreciate their friendliness and helpfulness. Never thought I'd be giving kudos to a dump, but the workers there deserve an "atta boy or atta gal"! read more

I do not leave reviews because I don't have the time. So far I am trapped in the recycling line for over an hour. This place is so poorly run. They hide behind Covid as yet another excuse . There is absolutely no leadership here. A pathetic experience when you are just trying to do the right thing. Disgusting and shame on management for letting this continue to happen. The guy in the hazard section is a delight. They should be held accountable. read more

recycling glass there is a total rip-off---2 of us loaded a toyota pickup truck with green glass bottles taking about an hour--4 boxes with other bottles loose on the sides--one box was a bath tub box--the load was above the sides of the truck and had to be tied down---i went there alone and filled idk how many of their garbage bins---wasnt counting, at least 6, maybe 10?----they paid me and it showed I had 410 bottles----so in other words 2 people loaded 7 bottles per minute---uh huh----i was emptying 2 6 packs at a time-- i estimate that I must have had well over 1000 bottles--they must just drag the garbage cans away and put yours to be weighed and theirs somewhere else--never go there alone, bring someone to monitor what they are doing, in my opinion I was robbed, flat out robbed! read more

This is by far the worst run dump I've ever experienced. The signage is overly confusing and complicated, the staff is rude, and it is run extremely inefficiently. Be prepared to waste at least an hour of your life here. Waste Management should be ashamed. read more

Today was the most ridiculous waste of time. First off on a normal day it's not that organized. You weigh in and weigh out. Today however the scale on the incoming is broken. This means everyone is using one scale. You would think since they route you through the incoming scale they would best guess your load. Collect at the incoming and then you leave. Noooo not this cluster f__k . The lines are wrapping around the facility to either weigh in or out. read more

Yeah a total dump so yay but subtracting one star because their signs which way to drive for what are amazingly confusing. Wish some smart person would fix that once and for all! I think most infrequent visitors would definitely agree read more
