Never have had any problems @ McCourtney. All staff there have been polite & professional, which…read morecan be challenging in the best of times, next to impossible currently w/CV-19 dominating our lives. The "cardboard rude-dude" I had heard about was a bit gruff the first time I had to interact w/him, but I simply told him I was there to "leave my cardboard one way or another, w/or without his help," and politely told him that "he could either show me where to put it (the bins all appeared to be full) or I was going to dump it right where I was parked." He quickly shut up, stopped the attitude, pointed at a spot near the big semi-trailer and quietly went back to sit on his fork-lift, watching me while I unloaded. The other employees (Yard Waste, C&D, Scrap Metal etc.) almost always walk over w/o being asked & offer to help me unload if it's slow, which is greatly appreciated, and definitely not something they have to, or should do. *Would be great though if there was some type of live/real-time "traffic cam" available on their web site. Loaded our work truck Sunday, used my lunch break to shoot out there, but ran into a line of dump traffic backed-up from the land-fill entrance all the way back (1/2-mile?) to Thoroughbred Loop. Whipped a U-ey and drove back to work in Nev City. (Not to mention anyone living/traveling on McCourtney West-bound for non-dump reasons could NOT safely get around this line of vehicles w/o driving 1/2-mile in the wrong lane into head-on traffic or waiting 45-minutes until they cleared the traffic jam past the dump entrance). Now our work truck remains loaded w/garbage for 2 xtra days as they're closed Mon/Tues. Not their fault it's that busy, but would love a way to know ahead of time (if it already exists, I can't find it) how long the line/wait is before driving out, burning gas & time, only to be turned away. Thanks for the hard work to provide this facility and (affordable) service/s. D. Strawser

The price was reasonable. They definitely deserve more than the rating shows! I would give 10 stars if I could. Keep up the good work WM

Western Placer Waste Management Authority - Concrete, gravel, and cement recycling at the WPWMA

Western Placer Waste Management Authority

Very helpful staff telling you were to go to dump different materials so if you need to dump weeds…read moretrees. Toilets this place has a spot for all your junk.

We recently had a bunch of furniture deliveries to our house that came in huge cardboard boxes. We…read moreknew it would take weeks for us to dispose of the cardboard in our normal weekly trash collection, so I looked online to see if the Lincoln dump would take it. We had been to the dump (Western Placer Waste Management Authority) a few months earlier to dispose of old paint cans that the previous homeowners had left in the garage. I remember going to the dump and finding it very confusing. So I'll jot down how I think the process goes, based on our two visits: If you're disposing paints, turn right. It's free to dispose of the paints if you live in Placer County. If you're trying to get cash for recyclables (plastic bottles, aluminum cans, glass bottles) or you have a truck load of stuff you want to dump, turn left. You'll see a line of cars waiting for their turn to talk to the attendant. The attendant will ask what brings you in. We said we had a bunch of cardboard boxes, as well as buyback items (cans, etc). He then gave us a paper that said "Buyback" on it and told us to drive further down. The next attendant took our paper and then told us to park at a certain number. Behind/below that number was a dumpster where you would unload your items, which in our case was a bunch of cardboard. Boy, that felt so nice to get rid of the cardboard from our house (for free!) and also know it would be going somewhere to probably get recycled again. (We did confirm they do not take styrofoam). As we were finishing up, we noticed a truck pulling in next to us and a mother and son dumpling a trunk load of items like an old bicycle as well as other trash. I was curious so I asked them how much they were charged for their load. The woman told me it was $44. I thought the process was very interesting. People want to get rid of old household items so they'll bring it to the dump. The attendants will I guess eyeball the load (or possibly weigh it?) and give you a price to unload the items. There might be a different structure and area if you're unloading, say, a ton of lawn cuttings, tree branches, etc like our gardener did for our yard work project. Maybe that's like a compost section that we didn't get to see on our visits. Definitely glad we have this place nearby. Now we know where to go if we want to get rid of paint, cardboard or just junk! Prices seem very reasonable.

Ben's Zap Haul - Ben

We have been using Ben's Zap Haul services since we moved to Nevada County about 5 years ago. The…read morefirst call for his service was to remove old building, fencing and construction supplies left behind by the previous owner. He responded quickly, did an excellent job and charged a very fair price. The next work Ben did for us was to refresh the driveway. I think that was 3-4 loads of gravel delivered and spread. Over the next couple years we hired Ben and his crew to support several "dirt work", rock and gravel projects. They built an RV parking area large enough for 2 RVs, a play/picnic area, and lastly an an outdoor social area. These three projects included on the order of 7-8 loads of base gravel, as well as 3 loads of larger rocks, placed to retain gravel and add structure. Over the years Ben, Marley and crew have done several smaller brush, limbing and tree work projects. The latest work was to clean up about 1 1/2 acres of our land, (fuels reduction) It's black Oak, Madrone, and the Manzanita that was 10' tall and literally so thick you couldn't even crawl through it. This work was performed on a fairly moderate slope. Ben brought his masticator, excavator and bucket loader, along with his crew. They worked a solid 8-9 hours. I wish I had before pictures, they left it looking "like a park" for sure. And once again, I had shopped around a bit, and Ben's rates were the best, as expected. I trust Ben, and highly recommend him for any services he offers. As the cooler/wetter weather returns, I'll have Ben and his crew back out for another rock/landscaping project, and another acre or so of brush/tree work. With a little over 5 acres, it's endless...

He took the time to evaluate which design and materials would work most effectively. His work was thorough and the drain has been working well, even with the heavy rain we experienced. We also had him haul away some junk in our basement. He is reliable and honest and I highly recommend him.
