WJ Management should be investigated by the Federal Government, the City of Chicago and the Alderman. If you are looking for a place to live, do not look here. This company's owners have no respect or regard for human beings. This company does not care about the condition their tenants are living in, forcing innocent children to live in filthy, bed bug infested units. The owners refuse to exterminate, does not have cleaning staff at some buildings, waste is littered all over attracting rodents to units. There are so many fire violations in these units with a tragic accident waiting to happen. The office staff that works here are usually African Americans (AA's) for the sole purpose of dividing a culture. The AA's that work for them have convinced the owners that AA's live like animals and don't want a safe, clean and healthy living space. These staff members have ruined any chance for the tenants to have an appropriate place to live because of this. If a tenant requests services/work/extermination the office never follows through. The office on the south side is being ran poorly by a office manager who's main concern is convincing the owners to treat tenants like animals in an effort to cut cost and save the owners money (which is backwards, money is saved when a company is run professionally). The mission statement of this company does not reflect their treatment of tenants and property. The Southside office manager is a perfect example of why some AA are at the bottom of the bucket, the property manager allows bed bugs to infest units because she does not report complaints to exterminators. Instead she tells tenants to call back when they catch a bug(which is difficult). The onsite property manager even has bed bugs. In addition to a fire hazard and bed bugs, the buildings often have raw sewage back up in the hallways of the first floor and in bath tubs and it could take weeks for the sewage to disappear. Lastly, the company preys on the poor! They will convince SSI recipients to let them take trustee over their benefits to live here. Catholic Charities will sometimes offer support to the homeless, the owners at WJ Management will request 2 months deposit from Catholic Charities, because they know that's the maximum a homeless person can receive, then they request another month of rent. So three months to move in if you get a homeless voucher only so WJ Management can find a way to keep all the money upon moving out (they make sure not to consider it a security deposit because then it could be tracked). If you ask me, that should be considered fraud and reported to the Federal Government. read more
