My first time at McCabe's led to an overall enjoyable experience. First and foremost, the food was…read morevery good and the menu looked excellent boasting a half price Tuesday burger menu, which I am sure I will be back for. I had the spring menu special pork chop which was very good though lacking the mass I require for sustenance. The main downfall of McCabe's is the overall bland and predictable beer list with only one decent craft IPA on tap (Anderson's IPA which received a 4.5 on Crapper Craft Reviews). While this saved the day the next most intriguing option was...nothing unless you enjoy a Sleeman railside or a Belgian Moon.....No thank you. Beer is why I come to pubs so this certainly knocked a good start off my rating. Secondly the service, which I usually dont give two farts about, was slower than my second cousin Jimmy (bless his soul). All this combined led to a 3 star rating, but I'm a hard ass so take this with some salt. Still one of the better pubs in the city which is pretty sad. STEP UP YOUR GAME LONDON. We wanted to go…read moresomeplace within walking distance of our place downtown, but someplace that wouldn't be filled with students either, and McCabe's was the perfect place, and we headed out around 7:30pm, and when we got there, there was room on the patio for us to sit. Our waiter was super nice, asked us our drink order and we ordered appetizers as well. I ordered a Somersby Cider, and for appetizers we got spinach dip, deep fried pickle spears and bruchetta. All came out first after our drinks and were tasty. The spinach dip was a bit on the salty side, but that was okay, we still gobbled it up anyway. Hanging out with three guys, you know the food is going to be eaten. For my main meal, I got the Buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was really good, super spicy and hot, and the sweet potato fries, were sliced into thick wedges and didn't come with a chipotle sauce like most sweet potato fries do. That was fine, I wasn't able to finish my main meal because of the apps we ordered, so I got a take out box to put my leftovers in for tomorrow. I'm glad we went when we did, it started to get busier and more and more people started coming onto the patio, security guard blocked off the back entrance to the stairs going downstairs to the back for the easier access to the washrooms, so I had to use the front and go all the way through the restaurant. If you are going to McCabe's for a nice drink or night out with friends, your best option is to get their early, before the crowds of students fill up the place for the rest of the night to get the best seat in the house.

Delicious food, amazing service…read more Spent the weekend in London, Ontario and was hunting down a place for a last minute birthday celebration. I'm not familiar with the area, so I turned to Yelp for restaurant recommendations. Pleased to say, I can always trust my fellow Yelpies and their reviews. Found this place as one of the top ranked in London. It was a little last minute, but I managed to secure a reservation for two on a Friday afternoon for the following evening. When we arrived, we were politely greeted by the owner who was incredibly friendly. It's a small restaurant, but lively at the same time. I would say, definitely dress for the occasion. We looked through the menu and decided on Ricotta Gnudi with pancetta and brussel sprouts in a butter sauce for appetizer. Deeeelicious. For mains, we ordered the casarecce with beef tenderloin tips, in a creamy cambozola and chive sauce and potato gnocchi with pork ragu. You know how usually in fancy restaurants, portion sizes are so tiny that you have to hit up McD afterwards? This was not the case. What a pleasant surprise! The portion sizes were big enough that we managed to be full from dinner AND have enough to pack two boxes full! For dessert we ordered this peachy dessert. Unfortunately I don't have the name (tried searching it and realized their menus change quite often!). It was good, but I would have to say the appetizer and entrees were my favourite. Highly recommend this place and would come again!

I've been meaning to check out Abruzzi for a while now, and I'm glad that I did! I think this is a…read moreperfect date-night spot. The ambience is cozy and romantic, and service is fantastic. We decided on the following dishes: I) Seasonal grilled crostini II) Grilled octopus III) Whole wheat angel hair with jumbo prawns & scallops The crostini was by far my favourite. The mixture of duck, coriander, and toppings made for a delectable appetizer. However, the octopus was not what I expected. I think I had in my head a more tender texture typically found with squid tentacles. The octopus was oddly soft/chewy, and threw my tongue into a bit of a limbo. The pasta was delicious - a reliable seafood dish that was a surprisingly decent portion even when shared. The service stood out to me because we only ordered one entree, and the waitress recognized that we would likely be sharing, and brought it out to us already split up on two separate plates. I had never experienced such forethought, and truly appreciated the gesture. Though prices are a bit higher than other Italian joints in London, I do think Abruzzi is worth a visit.

My friend and I decided to have a nice dinner at Delmar last night and it was an excellent choice!…read more:) The restaurant closes at 8pm and we arrived at 7:30pm, but no one rushed us and the food came out really quick! My friend got one of their sandwiches and I got the fish and chips. The fish was lightly battered, with just the right amount of crispiness! The fish also had a ... "fish" tasty to it :P Which some people hate, but I'm fine with because it is fish after all, it'd be awkward if it tasted like mushrooms or something :P The fries were also amazing, and I love how they include a free salad for the fish and chips! Also, both the fish and fries were not greasy which was a big and wonderful surprise, because after a big meal like that, I didn't even feel guilty! :) Delmar is quite large, and it is very clean and tidy. It opened in the 1950s and although it has a nice 50s vibe, it doesn't feel "old". The one and only reason why I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their menu. They offer all-day-breakfast which is nice, and a regular lunch/dinner menu. Their menu is not "small" but limited. For example, they offer 10+ types of sandwiches, but no hot dogs. They offer 7-8 types of omelettes but no skillets. They offer lots of varieties for 1 item, but they're not diverse when it comes to other classic diner and breakfast foods. They also have a small dessert and beverage menu. Overall though, I enjoyed my visit very much and my friend even gives this place a 5/5! So check out Delmar if you're driving by :)

We ordered beet salad, artichoke dip, crab cakes, Kang's fiery pork and Smokey BBQ lime chicken. All of the dishes were categorized as appetizers but they were main dish sizes! It's hard to imagine with $30+ per person, you can enjoy a fancy meal with attentive service these days. Unlike many other restaurants in GTA, this place doesn't charge you money for bread and the quality is so good. I really like the soft butter with good scent. The beet salad with goat was quite refreshing. The artichoke dip was flavourful too. The pork is tender and flavourful (spicy). Strongly recommend these three dishes. I didn't like the crab cake which doesn't have much crab flavour and the texture of which is weird too. The chicken is dry too. The server was offering to replace our chicken dish with something else when he heard the dish was so-so (although we didn't ask him to switch it). We were so satisfied with the environment and service here that we wanted to revisit during the rest of our trip if they were opening on those days. It'll definitely be my number one dinner choice when I'm revisiting London.
