I decided to look on Yelp at all San Antonio locations and saw the other locations (281 and Basse Rd) had not so great reviews so I checked out this location and stumbled upon some reviews for Ashley. Man am I glad I did because let me just tell you, she was phenomenal. The atmosphere was great and initial customer service upon walking into the facility was great. I actually called them before because I got lost trying to find the place and the receptionist took her time and guided me there. I arrived right on time and only waited about 10-15 minutes. Ashley came out and it was time to get started. The room was basic, but clean. I told her it was my first time being waxed in quite a while (this wasn't my first wax but it had been years because I started shaving, terrible choice, lesson learned). Ashley was very patient and gentle. She explained the process and she went. I love that she kept conversation throughout to distract me from the pain and she didn't tell me when she was ripping off the strips, which was a plus for me because I'm a normally anxious person. I received an armpit wax and Brazilian wax and honestly, the pits hurt worse. There were a few times when I screamed during the Brazilian and wanted to punch something but overall it was as good an experience as it gets for this type of service. This was my first time at EWC so I received half off my Brazilian, only paid $25 and $21 for armpits. No half bad! Thank you Ashley for providing impeccable service. The facial differs by targeting the deepest layer of your skin and does not involved extractions. She did the luminous facial on me and it was absolutely wonderful and surprisingly relaxing (given the loud pressurized air by the machine). I've done quite a few facials in the past and I'm always left red and face super tingling/burning sensation due to the products. I felt ZERO burning sensation and no red face! I left the facial with hydrated, glowing and clearer skin. I was shocked when she showed me the before and after pictures. She even gave me samples to try on my sensible skin. 100% would book another jet peel facial. I called the Rim location to book the Head-to-Toe Relaxation with Nails package for two people--$345 per person, or nearly $700 in services. After I explained what I wanted to book, the person answering the phone told me she needed to put me on hold to "help a customer." I waited for some time and eventually hung up. I understand needing to assist someone at the front desk, but I was also a customer. She could have simply taken my name and number and offered to call me back once she had time to coordinate the appointments. I then called the Basse location. The gentleman who answered spoke so quietly and mumbled so much that I couldn't understand him. I told him I couldn't hear him, and he switched phones, but it was no better. When I told him again that I was having difficulty hearing him, his response was essentially that it was just the phone. I finally gave up and hung up. What surprised me even more was that neither location attempted to call me back. Most businesses have some form of caller ID, and if a prospective customer disconnected while trying to book nearly $700 in services, I would expect someone to at least make an effort to return the call. I subsequently sent a detailed email about my experience to Woodhouse and also contacted its corporate parent. I never received a response from either one. One poor interaction can happen anywhere. But two locations, no follow-up from either location, and then no response to a written complaint suggests a broader customer-service problem. Woodhouse offers a luxury spa experience at luxury prices. The customer service should reflect that from the first phone call. Unfortunately, in this case it did not.
