I have been visiting the resort annually for five years. In that time they have remodeled and upgraded the experience. I have stayed in the suites primarily. Lovely people working there at desk, housekeeping and the restaurants. I have found the ski instructors to be knowledgeable and very patient. I love the tubing and the mountain coaster. Certainly patronize the restaurant and he bar while you are visiting. Definitely go to the Mountain Stye Brewery whole you are in town. The new fire pits are fun and the work facilities are a huge improvement! read more

It deserves 0 stars. I have been a season pass holder for close to ten years. With the new ownership taking over, the entire focus is on the hotel and cosmetics. Very little resources are spent maintaining the mountain--where you spend your time skiing. This year, Wisp, though it enjoys better snow and altitude than Whitetail and the Pennsylvania resorts, will be closed in February (while Whitetail and others are still open). During my trips up this season, they barely blew snow, so they had no reserve for the bad weather. If you're going to ski, avoid Wisp since they avoid mountain maintenance and snow blowing. read more

This is the most unprofessional resort I have ever come into contact with. When we started to book the place, the front desk had no idea of the events going on. They had no information on anything on the resort. The lady we spoke to said that they don't have any information. We still decided to go with them because it was the holidays, and nothing was available. Unfortunately, my husband got sick and went to the emergency room. I called for almost a week to get our deposit back. I talked to about 5 different people, left 2 voice mails for the manager. No one called me back, I just let it go. I went to go check my credit card and they charged me for the full stay. They didn't get my authorization to do so. When I called to get this resolved I was once again playing cat and mouse. One of the women just transferred me. When I finally got someone to help me, she told me I will get your full refund for you. She told me she was going to put me on hold, and I told her please don't hang up on me or transfer me to someone else. After holding for another 5 min, another lady gets on the phone. I said I was talking to this other person, "oh she stepped away", I said she was processing my refund. After explaining to her everything she tells me she can't refund my money. I said the lady just told me she was refunding me the money, "oh she went on break". I said you have gotten to be kidding me. She basically found out the lady was going to refund me my money and wouldn't let me talk to her again. I said I want to talk to a manager she said, no manager on site. Like I said if you ever think about booking here, please don't. No one knows what's going, they are unprofessional, and will do anything to get your money. I wish this upon no one especially going through a medical issue that you can't make it there. read more

Overall good for the area. I think grooming is better this year with wider skiable areas on several trails. Good range of skill levels except no very aggressive black diamonds. Also easy to move up in difficulty gradually with some easy blues and easy blacks to step up. Like all skiing in this region can get icy spots following warm weather and refreeze. Shop good for a tune. Never waiting on weekdays. My only beef is that the new owners don't discount or coupon. $60 on weekdays except $50 on Monday. 4 stars is my highest review in this region read more

Great place to ski/snowboard/tube, but if you are just a beginner I would suggest sticking with the bunny slopes (in other words don't pay for the full lift ticket until you've perfected them). Quite pricey for the rental and lift ticket and a little confusing when you first walk in on what you're supposed to be doing (i.e. no guidance for beginners, what you will need for the day, etc.). If you're experienced, though, you should be good to go. If not, I'd find an employee to try to walk you through. I think they have instructors for beginners, but I was given no information on that, plus I was already spending upwards up $150 for the day for all the gear and lift tickets. A manager named Max Hill really helped us out the day that we went and was kind and accommodating. Would like to give him a shout out for some great customer service. You da man Max! read more

Glad to have this place as my home mountain. No, the lodge isn't great, but the skiing is. The mountain is fairly big and has lots of good runs. Also, I ride the terrain park all the time and it is always perfect. Tons of respect to the park crew for keeping the parks prime even in the rain. read more

We stayed here during their off season ( but still in season for the lake) and you could tell because it felt like they didn't really care about things because it was their off season. There is no way the hotel is like this during peak winter time. First, we were in the older part of the hotel and it was so dated. We used the stairs the entire weekend because the hallway where the elevator was located was very dark. Didn't feel safe at all. The phones weren't working which wasn't that big of a deal but for older guests without cellphones I can see where this would be a concern. The deadbolt on our door didn't work, it kept getting stuck and we had to fiddle with the handle each time we left the room or came back in. The bathroom ceiling above the shower was peeling and there was black mold in the shower. The shower head didn't work properly- the water came out of both the shower head and the bottom part so the water pressure was terrible. The hotel has no security - the doors are all unlocked and have nowhere for you to scan your room card to get into any part of the hotel so anyone could walk in the hotel and no one would ever know! It felt like we were staying in an abandoned building the whole time with the hotel and even the grounds. It was just very weird. We wouldn't even give this place another chance during winter. I will say the people who checked us in and out were friendly. read more

Let me be clear: this review is for the snow tubing only. I need to bring attention to the lack of safety instructions, and the negligence of the staff members. Ease/availability: fine, no trouble parking, not a long walk. Price: $34 for two hours of tubing? Lame. Also, when we showed up at around 11:30, we had two options- wait until 12 for the 12-2 "slot", or go in the 11-1 "slot", giving us only 90 minutes (for full price). I understand that they might want to limit the number of the people on the mountain at once, for safety purposes, but there were only about 20 others people there at that time. Why not let customers' 2-hour slot begin when they get there as long as there isn't an over-crowding issue? Which brings me to service and safety. Safety: we were told to drag our feet the whole way down. No problem, I'm dragging me feet, face first, when BAM, I'm flying over the rubber mat stoppers and crashing into the stop barrier, which resulted in me getting a swollen, black eye and bleeding lip. Where is the attendant? On his phone, 50 feet away. Of the 3-4 employees that saw this, not one came to my aid. Sure we signed waivers, sure I'm an adult responsible for my own self. But I've been snow tubing many times in my life and I've never been afraid for my safety. If I were a parent, I'd be extremely cautious bringing my child here. My advice to Wisp: Either even out the slope, come up with a better slow-down system, or put an incline at the end of the trail. And please train your staff members- their apathy could result in someone getting seriously hurt. read more

Decent skiing when the weather is right but not much to offer for experienced skiers who have been out west. Once you've skied better terrain it can be a tough adjustment to come back to the limits of Wisp. The runs are quite short so you will find yourself at the bottom quickly and the lift lines can be very long to get back up. Beyond the skiing Wisp doesn't have much to offer in terms of lunch and resort options. There isn't really a lodge or anything like that to hang at. read more

The hotel lobby was difficult to find. There were no signs pointing towards the lobby. Just an unassuming beat up Christmas wreath on top of some nondescript doors. Not even a lit porch light. Don't expect a warm welcome. Just sarcasm from a kid that looks like a bat with a very off-beat sense of humor. The room was okay. The separate windowless bedroom was a check on the plus side. For the price you pay to stay at the resort, they offer little to zero amenities.* The only amenity we saw was the indoor pool. There was a hot tub but it was the size of a tea cup and always filled with mouthy awkward teenagers who did not appreciate the saxophone solo from Patrick Swayze's "She's like the wind" playing on Nancy's iphone. We attempted to "be efficient" by getting the rentals the night before. There were no signs for rentals or lift tickets. We visited three different places and each time turned down by a miserable employee directing us to another place. Customer service is nonexistent at this resort. The managers definitely need to take notes at other ski resorts to come up with a better rental flow.. When we finally found the boot rental, the place was saturated with a pungent foot odor. I feel bad for the employees who have to smell up to 9 hours of feet.. The mountain itself wasn't terrible, but nothing to write home about. The "happy camper/big dipper" trail was so flat you get more of a workout using your arms to go down. There's also a separate cross-country skiing trail (who does that?) "Possum trail" offered some scenic views. Mix that with some dramatic 80's tunes in your headphones to maximize relaxation. I had Paul Young's song from Trains, Planes, and Automobiles stuck in my head the entire day. Nice log cabins on top of the mountain (one had a hot tub that looked inviting). Be sure you're fit enough for Ace's Run! There's no 'breaks' on that one.. We would've done more blue squares but according to the map, the 2nd half of the slope turns into a black diamond. No thanks! The food court was barely edible. There is NO mountainside BREAKFAST. No even a continental breakfast lol...don't expect an all-you-can-eat waffle station and Rodney Dangerfield omelette man either. DC's was the only decent place to eat. However, I could imagine the guy from Restaurant Impossible tearing the place to shreds except for the log chairs. Black Bear tavern less than a mile away was definitely the highlight of the trip (that'll be another yelp another day). Chileans, dancing, and White Russians are a good combo! I probably won't visit again in the winter, but will come back in the summer with my harmonica. My suggestion: Wisp needs an employee appreciation day (even for the Chileans). This place needs a serious morale booster. There was a negative vibe from most of the employees. Although I doubt a lunch at Archie's bbq will give these employees the boost they need (how about that Mountain Man special?) I just heard that they are recovering from a 2012 bankruptcy..guess that doesn't help! Opening more of the green and blue trails also couldn't hurt. No wonder the lifts weren't jam packed on a Saturday afternoon in January. *This may be biased by a prior visit to Seven Springs where guests are welcomed with a luau, diamonds, and a roasted pig. read more

First time at Wisp. Will NEVER rent skis from them again. Arrived at 9:15 am & didn't leave the lodge to hit the slopes until 11:30. The organization of filling out paperwork, picking up boots/skis/poles was overwhelmingly frustrating. There was no rhyme or reason for the set up and no signs directing people where to go. Several times after waiting in one line for 15 minutes, a snarky employee would redirect the whole group, and scoff that "the signs are over there". (Did I mention I am still looking for the sign...?) I was a little put off if you can't tell. Not only was it unorganized, it was dangerous. An employee was trying to deliver boots, and fell. I'm sure all the families loved the f-bomb he dropped. Once on the slopes, I loved the runs. I felt like they had a great variety & I was able to improve my confidence & skill because of that. I thought it was super convenient that they had a "mini-lodge" at the top of the mountain. It was great for a quick bathroom break and hydration stop. It also looked like you could rent skis there, too.I really think it would be a great idea for the Wisp owners to travel around to various resorts & come up with a better flow for rentals. I would have been even more furious if I spent 2+ hrs in line and had less than a full day lift ticket. read more

The mountain is flat and the lifts are old and slow. How slow, we timed them at almost 10 minutes up the hill for a 1-2 minute ride down the hill. That doesn't make any sense. So if you want to spend your weekend waiting in line and sitting on the lift, then this is the place for you. The only positive is they get more snow than Whitetail, Liberty, and Roundtop...which isn't really saying much. They do have decent food there and a bar so it does have the feel of a real resort. We came to Wisp this past weekend for the holiday weekend to ski. Unfortunately, with the warm weather, the slopes were not in good condition at all, and for the price of the lift ticket and rentals, was definitely not worth it. We waited in long lines for the chairlift and by the afternoon on Saturday the slopes were all slush. I did have a good experience doing an hour lesson in the morning, although it was quiet chaotic getting everyone sorted into groups. The lodge is also just a big room with folding tables, so you definitely don't get that mountain lodge feel you'd expect. read more

We went here to look for a wedding venue. The girl that helped us was nice, but it all seemed haphazard and not well put together. Their pamphlets were a mess (literally ink smeared everywhere). She showed us 4 spaces to have a wedding. In the lodge- it's a ski lodge, it smells like a ski lodge (plasticy) Meh On the mountain top- pretty but really really windy and cold On a covered pavilion on the mountain top- ummm picnic wedding anyone? I have to downgrade my rating of Wisp. They went into bankruptcy a couple of years ago and now have new management and I presume are trying their best. But I see lots of capital improvements for the Summer activities (what's with the roller coaster that seems to grow on every visit?) but us poor skiers are stuck with 1970's slowwwwww chair lifts. Even little old Whitetail has a high speed lift. Seven Springs has two. Wisp: Zero. And it's a long way to the top. I will probably keep skiing here but given a choice of 3 hour drives from DC I would opt for Seven Springs. Note to new GM: You ripped me off for the price of a full day's ticket for 3 hours of skiing because you don't sell a half day ticket. I arrived at 2:30 and had to buy a whole day ticket that expired at 5pm. Maybe there's a chance to be consumer friendly here! read more

This is a second time at this joint. Yes, I had to name this so called resort a joint! Comparing to last time when we had no expectations, now knowing the supposedly resorts standards, this time it has been very disappointing, but it does have some positive highlights. Let me note, that we are aware that this place is rated at 3 stars, so our expectations were not high, but geez it appears lot of low level clientele roams this place if it got 3 stars since giving it 2 star rating is a real stretch! We booked the room in advance. Considering it was a Xmas to New Year holiday season after realizing that there is no snow fall in the area for a while and that temperatures will be fairly high for skiing we didn't want to cancel and disappoint the kids, while it was at the same time to late to plan the trip on a short notice somewhere else without getting ripped off. I could write a book about this place and not be able to express all negatives considering that this is in all reality on a scale 1-5 at best 2 star facility! I will rate some of the experiences and will use a scale 1 through 10, where 10 would be a top notch. Front Desk - 8 (Example of why not 10. I mean you have to be clueless about your job, if customer calls you to advise you that door lock is broken and then they ask you, ok so you think we should send a hotels engineer to look into it ? I mean if I am to sleep outside because I can't get into my room, what do you think should you send the repair person or hotel engineer ?) Hotel Engineer's - 10 Hotel Housekeeping (room cleaning person - not sure what their title is) - 10 (the guy who was cleaning our room, his name was Jose...Jose needs a raise and should be put in position to teach some of the resorts staff how to behave around customers! He was perfect in all areas / cleaning and customer care!) Food - Well, without any desire to insult anyone, the food they serve in all establishments within this resort is at best,collectively, scalable at level 4 (and this is a stretch). Note: This is frying kingdom, and if not frying then butter (likely margarine) is anything you can taste in most of the food. Food court serves junk that makes McDonald's look like a 5 Micheline Stars establishment! Room (we booked and got something they called Deluxe Twin Queen Bed Suite) - at best 6 (it was fairly clean, but beat up and house keeping should be thought to clean the dust of the furniture! For the record - Its not the house keeping person't fault that he or she has a clueless manager!) Guest Services - Equipment Rental Staff: - Equipment Rental Front Desk - minus 5 (Why ? Rude, unprofessional, without any level of customer care or appreciation that someone comes to this god forgotten place to ski. When asked is there any discount considering that snow levels are minimal and that more than half of trails are closed, thus resort should consider ski lift discount the girl only cynically laughed ...not smiled, laughed and asked, are you taking it or not ? Escalated it to the shift manager and he was trying to be nice, but failed to be, and only stated sorry this is not up to me its up to upper management. Talk about place being clueless how to ensure repeat business or the fact that each visitor is free marketing tool. - Equipment Rental Boots - 10 (kids that worked in that section were nice, helpful and knew their job!) - Equipment Rental Skis - 4 ("dudes" who work here, yah I can't call them anything else than "dudes" could learn that you don't chew tobacco and spit in the basket while customers are around, then as you have spit over your face while it with your hands and than handle documents that customer hands you; also, some of them could pull their pants above their knees, after all if we wanted to enter rapper concert and stare in someones under ware we would have gone to that kind of a venue not ski resort where my kid doesn't need to look at someone under ware; oh an hair washing would be nice! - Ski School Staff: - Ski School Equipment Rental Front Desk - minus 5 - Ski School Instructors - 10 - Trails - 7 ( this erasing is high considering that most of the time we had either slush or ice, because of extreme temperature changes form am to evening, but the that can't be controlled by the resort, however, the act that snow boarders are allowed on the same trails where skiers are trying to enjoy ski time, is unacceptable! Anyone who knows anything about skiing know what snowboarders do the trails and its impossible to have a good skiing experience when snowboarders pile up tons of snow on midst of the trails or are cutting you off left and right as you try to ski....but this place, was all about making Benjamin's at any and all costs. Instead of ensuring both snowboards and skiers have trails to enjoy. - Internet Access - minus 5 ( you are lucky to get nay connectivity, but then again don't be surprised they have Comcast. Review of the resort, spa and lodge area. For $200/night for a basic room I would not stay again. We were in the older building not the tower, the rooms are very outdated, and need more cleaning and attention. Housekeeping showed around 5 pm and did an ok job. For half the price any Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn or Courtyard is in better shape and includes breakfast. The lodge is very basic, food is on par with a Chuckie Cheese which I guess caters to the families. You are strictly paying for the location, the hotel is 1 star. Spa - The spa is the highlight and is privately owned. I enjoyed it, so did my friends and we talked to some other women that highly recommended it. read more

It is not exactly the nicest hotel,the decor is dated, drop ceilings, smelly musty room odors, pool is indoors with the smallest hot tub you can buy! I went tubbing for the 1st time and had my 2nd ski lesson at Wisp. Tubbing was fun for the first hour, but by the 2nd hour, I was bored. I guess I'm too old for tubbing. It is worth going for $15 in the off-season, but not necessary for $25 during the holidays. Watch out for the hyperactive 5 year olds who cut in line. Wisp has 4 main group ski lessons times -- 9am, 10am, 1pm & 5:30pm. I went at 1pm. I felt that each instructor taught their own way and some were more attentive to your weaknesses and some just didn't really care so much and focused on the people who were good. Luckily, I passed the "test" and was able to go on the bunny slopes. The ski lesson package seemed reasonably priced for $109 for rentals and lessons, I was able to continue practicing on the bunny slopes after the lessons. I am ready to take on the beginners slopes next time! read more

Disclaimer: my experience is based on attending Wisp for a workplace meeting. First off, they claim to offer "free internet" however not a single person in a 30 person party was able to access their "free" internet for the duration of our stay. When asking the front desk (teeny boppers) for IT assistance they"emailed" their IT guy and absolutely nothing came of it. I then proceeded to ask for the password to their "Premium" internet and they were going to charge me $10 but couldn't guarantee it would work either. They refused to waive the $10 fee and made a pathetic (I'm being polite) attempt to have IT look into the issue. Secondly, the rooms themselves are dingy and outdated with several water stains on the ceiling and a smell coming from the air units that can only be described as dirty gym socks. We will NOT be having another meeting at the Wisp which is unfortunate due to all the outdoor activities that are offered. The reality is if you're thinking about utilizing the Wisp for anything beyond lodging and outdoor activities, look elsewhere. read more

The trails here are relatively short for the most part but they're fun. The ones that felt they were a decent distance would be towards the front. Our group's personal favorite would be roadrunner I think. Going off the main lift (two lifts each seat three), you'd have to get off the midway point and go right and you'll see the trail. We really enjoyed the night sessions a bit more than during the day. It was less crowded and I guess the lack of light made the runs more exciting. Rudy's is a snowboarding shop unaffiliated with the resort and they are very well stocked with equipment. You'll more than likely find whatever you need there. The restaurants there have this dish called the "Triple Threat". It's a hot dog wrapped in a hamburger wrapped in bacon. It is an assault on your body and I recommend that you avoid it. read more

This resort was terrible. The cleaning service didn't even put sheets on the bed, the room was dirty and the hallways smelled like sewers. The staff were disinterested in helping out and couldn't be bothered to take 5 minutes to answer a question. read more

I didn't get to see the indoors to this resort but the outside is rather nice. Some ski slopes and tubing along with ice skating, a coaster, and a small bonfire. The hill leading up to the ice skating and tubing was very icy so be careful walking up the hill. The cost to go tubing on the holiday was a very insane $34 a person to slide down a hill for 2 hours. Normally it's $19 for a full session but $34 for 2 hours is wack. We were dumb enough to get tickets because lets face it, there's not much else to do up there. So we went tubing on a decent sized hill that had 6 or 7 lanes and three bumps on the way down the hill. We went so fast down the hill because it was icy and ended up flying through the barrier almost into the crowd waiting for tubes. When that happens they give you these big red plastic bottoms beneath your tube to slow you down. In fact, it slowed us down so much that we barely made it to the up hill slopes used to slow down the tube. After only 3 runs down the hill and waiting more than 10 minutes between slides it was time for us to go. The small escalator like lift that takes us up to the top of the hill was malfunctioning and would stop working and then run again with no warning causing many people to lose their balance nearly falling. The fact that there is no railing on either side to stop people from falling is rather dangerous. They make you sign a waiver before riding relieving them of any accountability if you are injured or possibly die! I feel really safe now. We were near freezing but didn't want to waste the trip up there so we sat in the small cafe for a few minutes before heading to the coaster. The line for the coaster wasn't long but it took about 25 minutes before we actually got on. It's a single seat coaster with each car about 1 minute apart. There is a track that pulls you up a very steep hill and then you free fall all the way down with a break you pull to slow you down. We were told to go full speed all the way down the hill but it was freezing cold out and the track was icy causing you to go faster than normal. I still used the break because the corners were way too sharp. The only thing holding you in was a single seat belt and I almost fell out trying to move my feet to another position. After 2 rides down I was convinced my feet were seconds from being amputated. We decided to leave after only an hour at the resort. Mostly because it was too cold and that we underdressed but also because we just spent $100 and neither of us were too happy with our purchase. I don't know much about the slopes but I hear its a slow ride up the lifts and a quick ride back down. This place should definitely use a fixer up especially on those prices. read more

The rooms are three star quality, but the staff is stellar all the way...hence the extra star. For the reasonable rate, our suite was fine place to sleep. Small, but clean...yes, a little dated, but we weren't there for style, we were there for the lake, the mountain rollercoaster, and a little Honi-Honi in our lives. A big plus was the wi-fi, since the only data coverage down in the valley is U.S. Cellular. Hence, no Yelp check-ins on this trip except for Wisp facilities! read more

So we stayed at the Wisp lodge hotel during the summer. There was many activities to do during the summer such as the mountain coaster, ziplines and archery. The reason why I gave Wisp Resort 3 stars if for a few reasons. The first was our room. I knew that some of the resort was renovated. Our room on the other hand had not been. It was not in the newly renovated tower. Also it had VERY outdated and damaged furniture. The dresser, desk and tv stand all had scrapes and chips to it. Also the air conditioner in the room was OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD. I woke up several times at night hearing it turn on. On the "low" setting it was blowing at the same rate as like high in a car. Also the wifi signal in our room was complete trash, very little signal and it would sometimes cut out at random times. I mean we're halfway through 2017, at least get some decent wifi. The other reason I gave a bad review is the night we got to the resort something had happened in the pool which required them to close it for maintenance. 3 nights later and it was still closed. We stayed at this hotel so we could use the pool and hot tub. I don't know if I would stay here again or recommend it to friends / family. read more

If you are bringing a group to ski and snow tube, I suggest you look somewhere else. We brought 40 people to ski and tube, and they would not give us any discount on the ski people. The numbers were 27 tubing and 13 skiing. This caused us to pay for the additional cost of skiers out of our own pockets. Most ski places will work with you as long as your numbers are high. The biggest disappointment was the inflexibility of Wisp Resort in working with us. We will take our business elsewhere next time. read more

As far as Mid-Atlantic resorts go, Wisp is on the top end of the spectrum,. Ample trails, decent powder, reliable grooming, and a awesome group discounts warrant this place 4 stars, in my opinion. Standard operating guidelines apply to Wisp like any other resort: - Go on a weekday if you can, great discounts - Group deals: purchase 20+ tickets, and they're $25 pp on a weekday. Can't beat that! - If you must go on a weekend day, hit up the slopes earlier in the day. Sometimes, if you arrive a few minutes before the resort opens, the lifts are already going, and you can score 15 minutes or so free time. Plus the slopes get understandably more torn up and icy as the day goes on. - Eat a big breakfast an hour before heading to the mountain; that'll give you energy for the day, and reduce the chance you'll binge and go into a food coma after lunch. Unlike all of the other reviewers, I've never been snowboarding, snow tubing, or skiing at Wisp, in fact, I don't think I've ever been there in the winter. I have never been on the mountain coaster, or made the trip out to whitewater raft the Yough. I've also never bothered to stay in the overpriced resort accomodations or eaten at the clearly (at least by other reviewers' standards) sub-par resort food. There's a great affordable, albeit sometimes crowded so reserve ahead of time, camping at the Bumblebee Campground nearby, with excellent camp hosts and facilities. So why am I reviewing Wisp? One thing that Wisp does offer in the summer / fall, is decent, not great, but decent downhill mountain biking. This is not regular mountain biking like the singletrack you get out at Laurel Hill, Rosaryville, Shaffer Farms, but rather giving your bike a ride up a ski lift and then screaming down a mountain that is normally reserved for skiing or snowboarding through trees, branches, and rocks. Don't do what I did the first time and bring your regular hardtail mountain bike... or else you'll find yourself flipping over your handlebars more than a few times. You can rent pretty good downhill bikes, full body pads, and a full face helmet at a premium. Unlike during the winter, there are no lines at the ski lifts and I don't think I ever really saw anyone else on the trails. If you are a true beginner at mountain biking in general, its hard to find a decent intermediate trail. The single green is basically a fireroad straight down, not technical at all, and gets boring after a couple runs. Everything else seems to pop up to a black diamond or double black diamond and may not be the best for learning on as they are quite technical. It appears that Wisp has wised up this year (I haven't been this season) and are building a beginner downhill trail as well as introductory classes to teach the basics. I can't tell you if they are any good, but its good that they offer them. If you aren't into mountain biking, the mountain buggy tours and paintball were fun off day things to do. read more

This hotel is so outdated and dirty. It was not a comfortable place to spend the night. I would not recommend staying here. The room was dark with a few lamps with dirty shades. The carpet looks like it is from the 80's. The shower had mildew and the shower vent was caked with dust. Also, the elevators on our wing were broken requiring only stairs for lugging baggage. I would never recommend this place. read more

We came across Wisp literally by Chance in deciding to find someplace to stop off on our trip from St. Louis to Washington. Our room was on the 7th floor and had fantastic views. The room itself was large and very nice. The outdoor activities is where it's at though. With legitimate mountain biking, ATV rental, the mountain coster, plus all the lake activities this place did not have the typical touristy feel and we had a great time. Prices at the resort itself seem reasonable and ere is good value for the money. We will be back. read more

Worst customer service! Their website has snow tubing purchase options but after entering your entire life history multiple times on a non mobile website it ends up not working. They have multiple phone numbers for snow tubing in which nobody answers - after 20 ring and 10 calls. They overcharged my account once I finally got through to a phone rep and I had to prove the error through my bank account. The lines to check in are a mile long with just two people servicing. Once our slot for snow tubing arrived, it was icing so we called twice on the way there (a short 10 min drive) and were told it was still operating. Upon arrival, we learned it was cancelled and we had to wait in a 45 minute line for a refund. Once we got to the front of the line the service member informed us we could have just called for the refund.. read more

A few weeks ago, we booked a room at the Lodge at the Wisp to escape the heat in the woods and nearby waterfalls as well as the beach at deep creek lake. It's not the very closest to these sites, but within 10-20 minutes of all the area had to offer. We took advantage of a 3rd night free special and really enjoyed ourselves. The whole hotel and the room were very clean. They staff from the maintenance man to the front desk were lovely and so very helpful. Amy was especially great helping us navigate our stay and giving us a great rate to add a fourth night because we were having such a great time. read more
