This place was a cool find. They have many different baked items, including macarons. I originally went for a breakfast sandwich which they are currently not doing. They only have toasted bagels as an option. I was disappointed, but opted for a cinnamon roll. My husband loved the roll because of the very cream cheesy frosting. I picked up a couple macarons, too. Excellent little place!! I had a cannoli and a honey soy lavender latte! So so good, and great service. They don't have reusable cutlery, straws, or cups so bring your own! But the coffee is good, I wouldn't say the best but fairly decent for old forge. No bathrooms, but they are literally around the corner. read more

Whenever I'm in Old Forge, I always stop by here for a latte or ice coffee. They have one of the creamiest lattes I've tried in the area. I also ordered 20 cupcakes for a special event and Whisk did not disappoint! Their carrot cake cupcakes were a huge hit for our dinner event. Super moist! Housed in Al Nathan's old location, Wisk is Old Forge's newest baked goods offering. Anyone who remembers Nathan's will think of out of this world bialys, thick bagels, and delicious breakfast sandwiches. Nathan's was an unassuming hole in the wall with much character. Wisk is not that place, and that is for the best. No one can replace Al Nathan. The first thing you notice walking in is the black/white/turquoise contrast of the decor. The second is the bumpin' music. The third is how BUSY it is. Wisk is the brain child of the folks behind Bite in Utica, and they offer many of the same treats. There are macaroons, donuts, cake, croissants, cupcakes, and some limited breakfast offerings including bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, and crepes. I got a variety of donuts to go (there are a few tables inside and out) and everything was light, fluffy, and surprisingly not overly sweet - even the frosted ones with sprinkles. I'm looking forward to having more treats and breakfast. Reason for deducting one star was the staff - the young woman who waited on me was pretty brusque. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was about a million degrees in there, but hopefully the other customers received a warmer welcome. Update - visited Wisk again today. What terrible service. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt the first time, but staff was disinterested and dismissive, certainly lacking soft skills. If an employer doesn't want to train their staff, fine - then hire experienced staff! Today we sampled the croissants and the brookie (brownie/cookie). The croissants were definitely a day old or more. Stale and crunchy. Brookie was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. On a side street so never noticed this bakery. Walked in and really like the vibe it has. Bought two macaroons- a lemon raspberry and maple syrup one. The bakery was closing for the day so they threw in some extra donuts. I didn't get to taste anything til the end of day. The maple macaroon was delicious! So yummy! And I split a cinnamon sugar donut three ways with friends and also delicious! I thought it might be stale cuz it was end of day and free, oh no! Went in to check out Bite's new location, early, before anyone else was there and I felt like an intrusion. I've been the front of a coffee shop myself, and wow, the attitude was irritating. Such a burden to have to make me two coffees and grab a cinnamon bun. Even with two employees there. I don't even remember if they said "hello" or "have a good day". The products were good, but atmosphere and customer relations are wanting. If your employees can't even be pleasant to customers who are being pleasant when it's a slow time of the day--good luck. Bite bakery itself has an attitude that I don't enjoy, and Whisk has solidified that dislike. I'll be sticking with the Bay Cafe and Market. read more

Boy, looks sure are deceiving! Wisk looks cool and trendy from the outside but once you order something the truth emerges. We visited on a Saturday morning, before 10:00, at the height of tourist season in Old Forge. We ordered 3 toasted bagels- they were out of an advertised cream cheese flavor and BUTTER. Since when does a pastry/bake shop let themselves run out of butter!!? (There is a grocery store less than a mile down the road.) We received our bagels untoasted after a 10min wait. (There were only a handful of people there at the time.) Overall, their attitude was blasé. Do yourself a favor and go to Ozzie's in Old Forge and/or Mary's in Inlet for their superior customer service. read more
