We were taking part in the Lake Erie…read moreWine Country Harvest Event and one of the stops happened to be at Sensory Vineyard which was also at the same location as 7 Sins Brewing. If two things weren't enough they also considered themselves an art house and had lots of paintings hanging up around the building. The inside of this place is pretty large with a large bar off to the left side and then some seating and other things off to the right. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery I decided to go with a flight here. I actually was able to use my wine tastings on beer here but the size wasn't too good and so I paid the $5 for 4 - 4 oz pours. Since the brewery is named 7 sins, as you would guess some of their beer names are also related to that. So for my 4 beers I went with Gluttony (Stout), Pre-prohibition Porter, Greed (Brown Ale) and Frye PA (IPA). Out of the bunch I enjoyed the Frye Pa with the Gluttony coming in a close second. I also thought that the Greed was pretty good but there was something about the porter which I didn't care for. There wasn't anything wrong with it but my palate just didn't care for it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed most of the beers that I had here and I think that $5 a flight is a steal.

Some friends and I were in the Norfolk area and they wanted to check out a winery tour…read more Unfortunately most of the wineries were closed for the season or on a fairly limited schedule. Fortunately, we found New Limburg Brewing Company. Being from the area, I've heard a lot about this place but haven't been. I've seen their stuff in the LCBO. I was also intrigued because it was all located in an old school building in Nixon. The main room isn't terribly huge but it had more than enough spots for our large group of 12 to sit. I loved the classroom feel with the piano, shelves of games, and the chalkboards. There's also a fantastic looking patio out front and an amazing back yard area. I shared the bitterballen, spring rolls and pepperette with my partner. We were warned that the kitchen is slower because they make everything fresh. And boy do they EVER. Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. Hot, fresh and full of flavour. I wish I could have explored more of the menu! They had lots of really unique beers on tap. We especially enjoyed the mulled beer they had. It was warm which was interesting but it was still lovely. I highly recommend New Limburg as a spot to check out during your journeys through Norfolk County. This is a refreshing oasis in the midst of ...not a whole lot. I say that with all my heart. There's no folk like Norfolk!

They only have three tables inside, and claims to no longer have a dining cover charge. I asked if the patio was licenced, and he pointed to only having three tables. I was told to make a reservation because of their size, and told the owner that it's not feasible if I decide to drive up from Toronto to know what time I should make a reservation for. A very odd owner indeed. He doesn't remember yelling at the group of people who posted a Yelp review from six years ago, and the guy also posted his personal phone number on the review. I imagine if you buy beers from the bottle shop on a busy day they won't let you consume them on site. Perhaps the patio isn't actually licenced. Don't want the trouble of meeting the Norfolk OPP to get trespassed off the property. I think I might skip this place.

There is an outside patio, and a large open interior space - definitely a bit of a biergarden feel to it. You go to the bar to order your food and drinks, and tell the server where you are sitting. They then bring the food out to you. Let's talk about the food! More specifically, let's talk about the poutine! I'm not Canadian, but I have had poutine before - and theirs might be the best I have ever had. The gravy was amazing, you could tell they add beer when they are making it. I also tried their regular cheeseburger - cooked perfectly, juicy, and delicious. If I hadn't had the poutine, I'd give it high marks for the burger alone. Don't sleep on this place, it's great. Now, I don't consume alcohol, so I can't comment on the quality of their beer - but my work colleague said it was very good. I did try their vanilla soda - and it was really good. High marks all around!

April 23/2023: This was a 100% low to mediocre meal…read more The place was busy but not jammed. it seemed to be a low end family restaurant. It was a "seat yourself", order your food & pick up your own drinks brewpub. The server themselves seemed to be doing little except deliver your food & clear the tables. My food was the TexMex Nacho Wrap ($17.00) w waffle fries. It SHOULD have been piping hot cause it took 45 minutes for us to get our food!! Instead, it was lukewarm with not much taste to it to boot! This was disappointing as the menu (attached) LOOKED very nice but the food disappointed. Our server(s) were less then polite & it kinda turned me off from the get go. As a seasoned restaurant goer...go somewhere else...this wasn't good. To the restaurant owner(s)...do a better job for crying out loud!

Service was fine, but there were a few flies and wasps flying around that really dampened our enjoyment of lunch. Fish and chips were ok - the fries were quite good while hot. The fish wasn't as good as The Squire on Locke. Schnitzel was good for a brewery - two huge pieces of pounded pork. The panko breading was interesting. The warm German potato salad served with it was fantastic and I liked that the entree came with a few asparagus spears. The biggest disappointment was probably the margherita pizza. Given the whole menu section dedicated to pizza, I expected better. The dough was fine - springy, though I'd personally prefer a bit more overall crisp. However, the red sauce was terrible. It's taste and texture made it seem as if the dough had been baked first, then toppings and spoonfuls of canned, unseasoned tomato sauce was spread on top right before being served. It was just weird. Finally, there's a kids menu, but there's no cheeseburger option, just a plain burger. Patio looks nice though, and there's a big parking lot.

I counted the nacho pieces, 26 chips with some concoction, that wasn't bad, but not worth the price. The so called nachos are served on a medium size plate. You can get a pan of good nachos at Kelsey's for just $17.99. Compare value and quality, I added the Blackbird Nacho picture and Kelsey's too.
