I have to say I loved this shop. Chocolate was phenomenal and decor was quaint and charming. What I disliked was the fact that the employee was following me and husband around the store as if we were going to steal. My husband and I are hispanic-my friend and her husband were not followed around the store-they are white. It was insulting. I was very close to leaving all of my items due to her behavior. Really cool chocolate shop with a huge variety if chocolate and other gifts. Loved that there were a few samples sprinkled throughout the shop. Definitely a place to stop if you find yourself passing through Hico. I was delighted by all the options and really liked that they had a lot of options available in milk and dark chocolate. We've been coming here for about 4 years Staff is always amazing, the smell as soon as you walk in is phenomenal, selection is top tier.. So many goodies! All packed inside a gorgeous old home. I'm not a connoisseur, but I can definitely tell the difference between this chocolate and what you get in your typical box of chocolates. If I hadn't seen them featured on a Texas Country Reporter episode (check it out on YouTube), I probably wouldn't have stopped. It doesn't look like much, in my opinion, from the outside, but it is worth checking out. My wife is the chocolate eater, and I wouldn't have paid for the sampler box if had just been me. Very cute and yummy chocolate shop. Chocolates are made in Hico and sold in this shop. Fortunately there are many opportunities to sample the chocolate before you buy. The shop also has candles, lotions, cute accessories and jewelry. The chocolate is a little pricey buuut, it's not your average Hershey bar. Quality chocolate and great combinations. I definitely will come back during the holidays. The store clerk says they create specialty chocolates with ingredients imported from France. What a wonderful surprise to find excellent chocolate truffles in this tiny town of 1,500. And it's been in business for 25 years! We went to Hico, TX (from Dallas go south to Glen Rose then west 20 miles) to visit the Koffee Kup Restaurant known for their pies and this chocolate shop was across the street in an old home. Yes I had pie and chocolate truffles. The shop is so cute with glass cases of chocolate and rooms of gift items. Warmly greeted by two young women, I was offered samples of whatever chocolate I wanted. The number one seller, Wild Woman, is a standout of dark chocolate inside and out. I purchased a 6 pack box of Wild Woman and a 6 pack sampler box and was a very happy camper. They also have tours of their factory that are currently suspended so I will have an excuse to go back and won't ever miss them anytime I'm in the area. Cute historical house built in the early 1900's homes a grand selection of chocolates, unique gifts of coffee, soaps, and one of a kind gifts. Beautifully decorated with original floors in tact, this marvelous establishment is one of a kind. We selected a few items, toffee-chocolate-nut covered bark, dark chocolate and peanut butter-chocolate fudge. Everything was delicious! The prices are a little high. The bark was $14.50, small boxed chocolates were $4.50 and the fudge was around $5-6. Well worth the money for this mom and pop store as we love to support our locals. We will be back! Wiseman House is hands down my favorite chocolatier here in TX. Lucky to have discovered this charming house filled of handmade chocolates over 8 years ago. I am known to make this 3 hours leisurely drive from and back home out of the blue, just for their nothing but the best chocolates. :) Smooth and Delicious are all of their chocolates. This time, I first had my satisfying bites of "Wild Woman" and "TX Whiskey" truffles as soon as I walked in. Then, I loaded my basket of "Peanut Butter Meltaways" & "Cappuccino Chips" as gifts! We took the long way home from Waco to avoid driving through Ft Worth and discovered this cute little shop. I wish we'd had more time to explore the whole town!! Beyond chocolates, the gift shop was delightful and cute. We loved the samples and we all got back in the car with goodies! The caramel pecan cluster was the best I've ever had. The pecan toffee was thin and tasty. My son ate two pieces of his crunchy almond brittle and asked for more. He loved it. This place is great. The people who work there are great and very helpful. The house is beautiful and the chocolate is amazing. I had the soft salted caramels and they are some of the best I ever had. I only was going to eat 1 but ended up eating both of them and if I had an entire box I think that they all could have disappeared. Gorgeous building and interior - with SO MUCH CHOCOLATE! Sadly, the young woman working there wasn't very informed about the ingredients in their chocolate - she seemed to think that all chocolate has dairy by default, and wasn't willing to attempt to contact the workshop a few blocks away by phone to ask. I didn't bother to ask about where they get their chocolate for the house made items -- I figured that would just confuse her since she tried to explain to me that chocolate % indicated how much dairy and sugar they contained (rather than chocolate mass). The candied orange peels dipped in dark chocolate appeared to use dark chocolate without dairy so I got those to try them out. I would be very happy to spend a hundred bucks here if they had a notebook or cards with the ingredients for items or some kind of indication of dairy-free items. I love chocolate and I love supporting local businesses... and I go out of my way for places that also have great customer service. Hoping to visit here again! read more

I saw the sign for Wiseman chocolates on the side of a truck while driving home from Austin to Fort Worth on Christmas Eve Day. I stopped thinking I haven't seen any good independent chocolate stores in a long time. While I felt a bit overwhelmed by the Southern Living Decor that looked like a magazine spread and felt underdressed in jeans, the ladies behind the counter were ultra friendly and made me feel at home. They were also patient when I could not make up my mind what I wanted and even re rang my order with a smile when I decided to add more to it and said "don't worry, it happens all the time". Friendly people and a nice place. But the chocolate? WOW. Wow. Wow. I ate a piece out of my box on the porch as I was leaving. Just pure bliss. Smooth and rich. Truly some of the best if not the best chocolate I've ever had and in my short time on earth I have consumed a lot of chocolate! Well worth stopping. When I asked if I should go for BBQ or go to the Koffee Kup, The ladies told me that the BBQ only did catering now but If I went to the Koffee Kup I would find some good food. They were quite right. Not only were there signs everywhere about it- we were told as soon as we set foot in the door. This place has everything chocolate! Truffles, clusters, toffee, chocolate covered fruits, etc. They have dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and some white chocolate. The clusters are wonderful and the toffee too! If you are in the area this place is a real treat! Best part- they have samples so you can try before you buy! Awesome! And the Wild Woman Blueberry Almond bar was sinfully delicious!! I almost at the entire bar in one sitting. I had never heard of or had the Belgian dark chocolate, but well worth the price! The only disappointment for me was that they did not have dark chocolate peanut butter pieces. Oh my goodness! This adorable little chocolate shop holds many treasures! First of all, their chocolate is absolutely exquisite! They offer multiple samples that are set out so you can try different types of chocolates. They also sell coffee beans here. We bought a bag of the chocolate hazelnut and have been blown away by how delicious the coffee is!!! It's not normal that the smell of the beans is as good as the coffee but WOW!!! I'm in Stephenville visiting my parents for my Spring Break. We were headed to Waco Wednesday night to do some Painting w/ a Twist and we decided to stop in while we passed through Hico to see if we could procure some goodies! My mom was gracious enough to let me get both the mini jar of Fudge sauce, which I've never tried from them before. I also got their last little sampler of general goodies, and then went further to let me pick up a sampler of their most popular truffles. I remember when I was at SFA for the first time, which was a failure, but not the point, I do graduate from SFA in May. But anyways my mom surprised me once back in 2006 my previous stay in Nacogdoches w/ a box of literally the biggest pecan turtles I'd ever seen in my life. I think I did share a wee bit, but that was my first taste of Wiseman House and it was amazing. I don't get to make the 5 hour trip between Nacogdoches and Stephenville as much as I'd like and most times am unable to stop at Wiseman House, so I'm thoroughly excited to have a small stock pile!
