Wiseacre Brewing was a brewery that Steve and I enjoyed quite a bit! From time to time we do get tired of IPA's but the Bow Echo was at the time a fresh change of pace at the time we had it! Easily one of the best breweries in the Mid-south, and my favorite in Memphis by far. The taproom can get a little loud depending on the time of day and the events going on nearby, but if it does get noisy there's plenty of outdoor seating that will let you enjoy the beautiful Memphis weather. There's pretty much always a food truck parked out back too, although there doesn't seem to be a set schedule for which trucks come on what days. Beggars can't be choosers on that front, as they're not directly affiliated with the brewery. As great as the taproom is, I still highly recommend investing in a kegerator of your own. Wiseacre is absolutely the best brewery in town for filling out custom keg orders. I got there a little after they opened, and they filled my half-barrel keg with delicious Oktoberfest brew in legit 3 minutes. That kind of service can't be beat - most breweries won't even do custom orders without several days' advance notice! read more

Solid beer selection. They do have flights but they are 3 per flight. Tried several different beers and all were extremely good which for me is a hard thing to find. If you like dark beer the hard to get up to get down is great. They had a live, free performance of Macbeth that started at 7pm. There also was a food truck on site. I really really love the space here at Wiseacre. It's sooooo spacious, light, airy, and incredibly high ceilings, of course. There's a really nice outdoor garden area too. We tried this place on our recent visit to Memphis. It is in a convenient location as it is within walking distance from Beale Street. The place is huge and has plenty of seats inside as well as on the large patio, which our dog enjoyed. Tried Wiseacre for the first time last week and fell in love. Such a cute design and fun atmosphere with great indoor and outdoor seating options. I've only been in the early afternoon, so it hasn't been very busy but I've heard its a great evening hang spot especially on good weather days. They have a large parking lot so parking has been a breeze. I had their limited time coffee drink, which they are making for the Memphis local competition and FELL IN LOVE. At first they weren't sure if they could make it because the kitchen was closed, but the staff after sometime figured it out which was nice. It was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had and just what I needed on a hot day. If they added it to their menu I would drive the 30 minutes almost everyday. My coworker and I were talking about it all week and tried to order it again a few days later but they ha run out of the ingredients. I hope this is a one time thing but its good to know that their restock days are MONDAYS so they might be a bit short on the weekend which I would think to not be ideal. The food was pretty good when we went a second time. We ordered wings and fries (which were good) but again they were out of ice cream and the sandwich I wanted to try which was sad because the menu is already a bit limited. I would almost say its worth calling on the weekend to make sure they have what you want and double checking the food is open as it runs on different hours from the bar. This is a really great brewery that offers a diverse variety of beers for any type of person. I would not consider myself a beer person at all, but I found a couple of things that I liked here. I ended up walking away with the 6 pack of Beach within Reach. Staff are friendly and the pricing of their 6 pack is totally worth the offering. No price gauging here with my beer costing $10. It's not sold in stores. Other honorable mention positives include tons of outdoor space, dog & kid friendly, plus seating that is covered + inside. This was a hit and a miss for me. First, the location near downtown would not sell me or give me a sticker even though I told them I was from New Mexico (their power was down). I mean, how unfortunate that they wouldn't even let me give them the cash and take a sticker. This wasn't a large transaction. Then we decided to go to the alternate location because the lager was so good, and the amber ale! The two girls inside were on the phone trying to get permission to close up early since it was "slow". By my count thete were 5 tables which is not bad. Definitely not zero. Each table had two people. I asked if they could fill my growler but stated it could only be a growler from this location which I think is absurd as long as they seal it. I guess I am just bummed out each location had bad customer service but great beer. Your missing out on some great sales as a result of you only wanting your own company growler. And as a fellow bartender I am even more disappointed that I was poured a beer with tons of foam/head and beer poured over with no attempt to pour their water over the glass. Each customer had to take their glasses on and ask for more beer. How is this even ok? Why didn't one of the workers go out to ask for refills? Would have given 5 stars but as others have said, the employees were not some of the friendliest folks I've met. It seemed like they really did not want to be there and that it was inconveniencing them to take our order. Even so, the beer was amazing, so 4 stars it is. Also as others have said, it looks super sketchy from the road. In fact, when we pulled up I was sure it was closed! But if you follow the gravel lot to the back, there's a super nice space with a big outdoor deck and lots of tables inside. I had the "Special IPA" which I think was a small-batch/seasonal flavor and I wish it wasn't cause it was dang good! Lots of choices though so I'm sure I'll find another one I like next time I'm back. Lastly, I don't know what the food truck situation is like on an average night, but the night we were there The Fries Guy was out there and all the food he kept bringing in to people looked and smelled amazing! Do not park right when you enter the drive way. Card only, no cash! Private parking lot. Big brewery space. Indoor seating and outdoor patio. The person who assisted us at the bar was total douche. Did not want to answer any questions and took are order like we were bothering him. He looked like he hated his job and everyone there enjoying themselves. Terrible! Good selection beer. Stopped in yesterday to the location on BB King. We absolutely loved it! The location is only a few minute walk from Beale Street and there is ample seating. Their property is huge! I smpled a few of the Hazy IPAs which were all delicious. My husband's favorite was the pilsner. He even ordered it later that night when the location we were at had it on draft. The service was super friendly and welcoming. The outdoor area was very large and had a variety of seating. The weather was great yesterday so we opted to sit outside. Very cool place! Bartender with the ponytail, overalls, and "worked at the university of Memphis" was not. Disrespectful from the start, condensing, pompous, and arrogant. Three people in my party had a bad experience with this individual to my knowledge and that's without prompting them with my experience. I have celiac disease and asked if they sold a seltzer. My fiancé had checked online and found out they did but it was the other location. The guys says no, so I asked about whisky(I'm from St. Louis and most breweries there have options other than just beer) and the guy responds with "this is a brewery". Didn't welcome us upon entry and simply said "you need masks, it's a shelby county ordinance". Just unpleasant. read more

Pulling in I was a bit hesitate, shady looking building out front parking in rear under some train tracks, and entering through the back door... Once you enter though it was a very nice place with lots of beers on tap, merchandise, and seating. The clientele was mostly made up of college age, and mid 20's. They had a vast amount of beers on tap, but all of them seemed to have a heavy hops or grapefruit taste. There was only one beer that didn't taste too overwhelming. Fantastic beer and awesome brewery! We went to a special event at Wiseacre and had a beer and food pairing dinner. The beer is a special release called symphonic and it tastes like delicious cherries!! The brewery partnered with the chefs from Hog & Hominy and we had fantastic food and drinks. The brewery has a cool outdoor lot for events. One of the best food pairings included pork terrine (like a smoky pork hash) with apples and butternut squash paired with cider. I also loved the symphonic beer with the acorn squash. They had a rose wine with incredible chowder of frog legs! Truly unique and savory food for this dinner at Wiseacre. It was my first visit and I plan to return the next time I'm in Memphis. The saison beer is also a new favorite! read more

I love the art direction in this place. Their labels are worthy of framing. The beer is really good. I had a sampler of all the hoppy beers they have to offer, great stuff! Prices were cheap. (obligatory: I live in Alaska, though) The outdoor area is odd and local. The weird concrete cylinders are surprisingly enjoyable to sit next to! I liked Wiseacre because... ~ The staff is cool & knowledgable ~ They have really talented artists that do the artwork for their beer labels. They have blown up prints of them in the brewery area. ~ Delicious beer. I tried about 6 & enjoyed them all. ~ Just like the neat beer artwork, their merchandise is cool too. I bought a shirt. I drove down here purposely because they had a few beers on their untapped list that are to go. Apparently the untapped list wasn't updated for over a month so everything I went for was gone. First off, if you've never been here before it's really difficult to figure out how to get in the parking lot. Google maps takes you to a side street and you can walk over. The entrance is in the back. We have been to the downtown location before and had a bad experience so we wanted to give this location a try. I asked for a flight. Just FYI they do not have flight boards. You have to carry your small pours by hand and there are no labels so you have to remember which beer is which. I like their beer. It's an okay atmosphere. I was so excited when I found out a craft brewery opened in Memphis, and I had to check it out while in town. We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened on a Thursday afternoon, and the parking lot was already halfway full. The crowd was a mix of people: from yuppies straight from the office (suit and all), to hipsters, to grandmas - I love when places bring people from different walks of life to enjoy a common thing! There is an awesome patio and the doors to the taproom open to the outside - perfect for enjoying a nice day! The taproom itself is really nice, and the brewing equipment behind the glass windows looks high end and new. I wish they offered tours, but according to their website, they're going to start tours in the future. Now to the beer - between me & the BF, we had a taster of each beer on draft, 7 total. The tasters are $1.75 each, and it was a good way to see what Wiseacre had to offer. Overall, neither of us was impressed with the beer. The beers were safe - not creative, not terrible, but not fantastic, either. The staff was efficient, but when I asked a question about a beer that was only sold in a bottle, the bartender didn't seem knowledgeable about the beer (like he hadn't even tried it before). If you work at a brewery, I expect you to be able to describe a beer. Maybe it's just because most the employees at breweries I've visited are passionate about beer (I mean, I'm just visiting and I'm passionate about beer), so I was a little let down by the lack of knowledge. Overall, I'm glad the craft beer movement has made it's way to Memphis, and although this isn't my favorite brewery, it's worth a visit. If you are looking for super hoppy or experimental beers, you might not find it here, but they do have some decent brews. Drink local! read more

Let me first begin with I love craft beers. IPAs and Stouts are my favorites. So, looking up some cool craft breweries in Memphis, I came across this spot. It had very high ratings on alot of their beers, so I had to give it a try. I was with my girlfriend, and we started off ordered some sample beers (flight style). We went up to the bar area and checked out the beer menu for some cool options to get. They had some cool signage also above the tap area, listing out all of the draft beers offered. My gf got a mix of 3 different IPAs, and I went with their signature time bomb and 2 different high percentage stouts. We sampled each others drinks as well, cause you have to when your ordering flights. All of these beers were great. I loved all 3 of the IPAs we chose. They were all delicious. The stouts were great as well. I think I just love beer! I loved the IPAs so much, that I ordered a large glass of Adjective Animal, which was a Double IPA. This beer was excellent. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered a second glass of it. While hanging out drinking, we meet some cool people from the area, who also happened to be going to the same Tool Concert that evening. Before heading out, I bought a bottle of their Astronaut Status Stout. From the reviews online, this was listed number 1 craft beer in Tennessee. Once I got home, I opened this up, poured it into a glass, and drank it. It was a nice dark color, and just went down smooth. I can see why it had best reviews. Definitely a number 1 ranked beer in my option as well. Overall, I really enjoyed this craft brewery. My highest recommendation. read more

Cool little brewery with a few tables inside and ample room outside. There are various yard games to play and lots of areas to sit and chill. There is a covered picnic area and it was nice to see they allow dogs in this space. We ordered a few tasters and our favorite would probably be the classic Wiseacre Tiny Bomb. Great brewery in Memphis. Wiseacre offers some of Memphis' best craft beer. Visiting a friend who moved to the area, I was already aware of some of Wiseacre's beers, but luckily I got the chance to checkout the taproom. The taproom is great, a nice size, great decor and plenty of free parking. We came in late on a Monday evening and it was surprisingly busy. They offer a nice variety of brewery apparel, for those who like to collect, glassware and beer to go. Without a doubt, "Frozen Toast" is my favorite Wiseacre beer and being able to take a few bottles to go was great. If you're a craft beer lover in the Memphis area, your options are limited but definitely check out Wiseacre. read more
