    Half-barrel keg of Wiseacre Oktoberfest

Easily one of the best breweries in the Mid-south, and my favorite in Memphis by far. The taproom can get a little loud depending on the time of day and the events going on nearby, but if it does get noisy there's plenty of outdoor seating that will let you enjoy the beautiful Memphis weather. There's pretty much always a food truck parked out back too, although there doesn't seem to be a set schedule for which trucks come on what days. Beggars can't be choosers on that front, as they're not directly affiliated with the brewery. As great as the taproom is, I still highly recommend investing in a kegerator of your own. Wiseacre is absolutely the best brewery in town for filling out custom keg orders. I got there a little after they opened, and they filled my half-barrel keg with delicious Oktoberfest brew in legit 3 minutes. That kind of service can't be beat - most breweries won't even do custom orders without several days' advance notice!

Solid beer selection. They do have flights but they are 3 per flight. Tried several different beers and all were extremely good which for me is a hard thing to find. If you like dark beer the hard to get up to get down is great. They had a live, free performance of Macbeth that started at 7pm. There also was a food truck on site. Other than that there is no food served at this location. Google maps did not get me here and was about 3 blocks off. Will return

This is my go to place on Fridays! Beer is great and the atmosphere is even better. If you're not from here and want to experience the best Memphis had to offer come check this brewery out. Recommend the Adjective Animal and Memphis Sands. Cheers

I've been here at least a dozen times and just forgot to review. I'm a perennial fan of "Gotta Get Up to Get Down", "Moon Biscuits", and more. The artwork and overall aesthetic is fantastic. I of course have a fondness for the OG location, but appreciate the downtown location too.

10/10 recommend this brewery. Friendly staff, good beer, and great ambiance! Food trucks during the weekend, but bring your own food during the week (great spot to bring to-go food). Bike friendly and tons of car parking.

We tried this place on our recent visit to Memphis. It is in a convenient location as it is within walking distance from Beale Street. The place is huge and has plenty of seats inside as well as on the large patio, which our dog enjoyed. The beer selection was good and we found something right away. $17 for 2 beers is a little much (compared to Dallas pricing) but that may be the norm for the area.

Banana Colada Iced Coffee is addicting! Should be added to the menu

Tried Wiseacre for the first time last week and fell in love. Such a cute design and fun atmosphere with great indoor and outdoor seating options. I've only been in the early afternoon, so it hasn't been very busy but I've heard its a great evening hang spot especially on good weather days. They have a large parking lot so parking has been a breeze. I had their limited time coffee drink, which they are making for the Memphis local competition and FELL IN LOVE. At first they weren't sure if they could make it because the kitchen was closed, but the staff after sometime figured it out which was nice. It was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had and just what I needed on a hot day. If they added it to their menu I would drive the 30 minutes almost everyday. My coworker and I were talking about it all week and tried to order it again a few days later but they ha run out of the ingredients. I hope this is a one time thing but its good to know that their restock days are MONDAYS so they might be a bit short on the weekend which I would think to not be ideal. The food was pretty good when we went a second time. We ordered wings and fries (which were good) but again they were out of ice cream and the sandwich I wanted to try which was sad because the menu is already a bit limited. I would almost say its worth calling on the weekend to make sure they have what you want and double checking the food is open as it runs on different hours from the bar. TLDR; Great spot, good food and drinks, limited menu that is often out of things. Restock day is Monday

This is a really great brewery that offers a diverse variety of beers for any type of person. I would not consider myself a beer person at all, but I found a couple of things that I liked here. I ended up walking away with the 6 pack of Beach within Reach. Staff are friendly and the pricing of their 6 pack is totally worth the offering. No price gauging here with my beer costing $10. It's not sold in stores. Other honorable mention positives include tons of outdoor space, dog & kid friendly, plus seating that is covered + inside. This is the place to come drink at any time of day with a long range of hours closing at 10pm on weekends.

This was a hit and a miss for me. First, the location near downtown would not sell me or give me a sticker even though I told them I was from New Mexico (their power was down). I mean, how unfortunate that they wouldn't even let me give them the cash and take a sticker. This wasn't a large transaction. Then we decided to go to the alternate location because the lager was so good, and the amber ale! The two girls inside were on the phone trying to get permission to close up early since it was "slow". By my count thete were 5 tables which is not bad. Definitely not zero. Each table had two people. I asked if they could fill my growler but stated it could only be a growler from this location which I think is absurd as long as they seal it. I guess I am just bummed out each location had bad customer service but great beer. Your missing out on some great sales as a result of you only wanting your own company growler. And as a fellow bartender I am even more disappointed that I was poured a beer with tons of foam/head and beer poured over with no attempt to pour their water over the glass. Each customer had to take their glasses on and ask for more beer. How is this even ok? Why didn't one of the workers go out to ask for refills? Probably because they wanted to wrap up early due to a "slow" night. Signed- a visitor from NM and a not impressed beer conossieur.

Just give me a damn IPA and let's move right along. Once, she had a beer thick with orange pulp and it as the most unique brew I have ever tasted. She has been chasing it since to no avail. To me, it was shit, to her, it was the next pinnacle to which nothing else has compared since. We come during Cooper Young Festival every year and the service can be a bit snippy and rushed. It actually pisses me off sometimes. I do understand the need to get people through the place quickly, but you can do so without being as curt and laconic. We will return, without a doubt. I do love beer. My only suggestion would be a corral of puppies to pet while you get wasted. That would be pretty rad, maybe like a puppy rental system could work. '24 - 3/100

There's also a great horseshoe of seating centered around the wood-fire pizza oven if you want to watch the kitchen in action. The Flight Coming from the DC area, an 8-count flight for $16 feels like a steal. I went in thinking it was a 6-count, but I'm not complaining about the extra mileage. Here was the breakdown: - Famous Flaming Stone: Interesting technique using hot stones from the oven. Smooth and easy-drinking, but don't expect a "crisp" finish. - Isle of Skye Scottish Ale: Malty and dark. The vanilla hints in the aroma and the finish are exactly where they should be. - The Garrison (ESB): Not bitter at all and easy to drink, but lacks the "wow factor" to make it a standout. - Midtown Brown: This is a classic English nut brown ale. If you like dark beers, this delivers exactly what it is. Citra Brown: This was a DNF for me. I'm firmly Team Midtown Brown on this one. - Wee Heavy: A "bodied up" version of the Scottish Ale. This would be my preference over the Isle of Skye for the extra weight. - Boscos Noir IPA: As a fan of black IPAs, I enjoyed this. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely good. - Bombay IPA: A fantastic capstone. Even after a heavy flight, this was a solid, high-quality finish. The Food I ordered the Spicy Italian Pizza. The wood-fire crust is the winner here--it delivers a light char without being crunchy or burnt. It's structurally sound (no "flop and drop" with the toppings) and has a nice outer crispness while maintaining a soft bite. There is something unique about the dough that I couldn't quite put my finger on, but it was a pleasant surprise. Expect a bit of grease from the sausage and pepperoni, though it's more visual than a flavor issue. The hot peppers were arranged well and not overdone. The mushrooms did get a bit lost among the more overpowering ingredients, but overall, it's a solid "no regrets" bar pizza. The Service - Friendly and efficient across the board. Extra kudos to the food delivery guy--great energy. This isn't necessarily the pizza you'll run to tell all your friends about, but with the high-value flights and the great atmosphere, it's a dependable, high-quality local spot in the Square.
