Anthony Tran yelled at me! Appalling bedside manner. I went to get fitted for contacts, which I have been wearing for many years. At the end of the consultation, Tran asked me to try on contacts that were not my prescription. I was puzzled and confirmed that he wanted me to try on contacts that were NOT my prescription. He yelled: "Well, what do you want me to do?!" Firstly, not yell at me. Secondly, get contacts that fit and call me back then. He was extremely unprofessional. I am a Latina and felt completely mistreated by Tran. He was condescending and rude. I will never again use Wise Vision and recommend nobody does. There are many other options in Hoboken. read more

When they were at their old location, Wise Vision felt like a mom and pop one stop shop for a great exam and Eyewear. They used to bend over backwards to please their customers. Since they've moved locations, the only advice I can give is to walk across the street to Warby Parker. They are rude and they clearly do not want your business. read more

Wise Vision is the best!! Somehow I always save hundreds of dollars when I buy contacts from Wise Vision... I recently looked at competitors (1-800 Contacts and Warby Parker) for pricing on my annual contacts and Wise vision's cost was significantly cheaper (I'm talking hundreds of dollars cheaper for the same exact product). I had an appointment for eye exam what I got it last year before the pandemic...After a year I had to cancel that appointment because I had to work there was no problem and unfortunately the second appointment I also canceled because I tested positive for covid!the lady on the phone questioning me why Am i cancel my appointment AGAIN??!You canceled the first one!I was like wtf??!I definitely going to cancel my third appointment because I don't want to leave my money at this business! For all my eye phobic folks, this is the place for you! I went here over the course of several visits recently for 1. An eye exam, 2. New glasses, and 3. To be fitted for and trained in contact lenses. Wise vision did a good job with tasks 1 & 2 but it was with task 3 (contacts) where they blew me away. For background, I'm 33 years old and I've always had a severe gut wrenching phobia about anything going near my eye. I couldn't even watch other people put contacts in, Let alone touch my own eyes. However, I wanted and needed to finally learn contacts for my upcoming wedding and Wise Vision helped me achieve my goal! Crystal is the contact lens trainer at Wise Vision and she is THE G.O.A.T. She practices tough love and won't baby you but damn does she know what she's doing! Took me two sessions with her (she said some people even need three) and I kid you not I can now wear contact lenses for 15 hrs without a problem! One thing I will note is that lens training takes place in the main area of the store so other employees and customers are walking around you as you awkwardly poke and pinch your eyes. but everyone is super sweet and in a way this public aspect helps you get it over with more quickly. Definitely check this place out for all eye care needs but especially if you are new to contact lenses and/or fearful! read more

This is absolutely the most incompetent place I have ever patronized. It's like a factory line of oblivious drones. I went in to ask about my left eye, in which I can't see even with a contact in. The doctor gave me several prescription trials to try (wtf? they can't measure what I need?). Of course several of those were way off, and I actually got into a car accident because of it. Long story short, after many more mishaps in which they ordered me the wrong prescriptions, it took me *months* to finally just give up and ask them to refill my original prescription. Total waste of time. They also try to push you to buy a year's supply from them which is very expensive, and when I tried to re-order from Walgreens they denied the order even though it has not yet been a year since my last exam. AVOID this place, they suck. Will never return. read more

This was my third year coming to Wise Vision, and the service is always friendly with a smile. Lots of attention paid to each customer in store. However, there are two things which really bugged me on this visit: 1- One of the workers who I won't name didn't know how to use the machine to test my prescription. He had to ask for help from another employee and even then fumbled around. He was also the one running the glaucoma test, which you can imagine made me nervous. I should have walked out after that. 2- After the eye exam (which was fine), the selling process for new glasses felt uneasy for me. It started with a recommendation of all the add on features for lenses, and a comparison against what it would be without insurance (irrelevant, in my case). I had to ask more than once what the basic coverage was. I kept getting "we recommend you get this, it's only $xyz". I didn't order, and took my prescription to Warby Parker up the road. Even WITHOUT insurance coverage there, the total cost out the door was $10 more than the cost of AR coating at wise vision (that's with insurance). Overall, when I get reimbursed, my out of pocket cost will be $25 with Warby, and it was looking about $100 with Wise (for an equivalent product). It's getting hard to justify sticking with Wise Vision. read more

The entire staff from the owner to the doctor to the salespeople are exceptional! I came in for my annual exam and turned out I needed to order some new frames too. It was really easy to make an appointment for the same week, and I was seen right away. The whole process was super smooth, the doctor was patient and friendly, meticulously went through the process while explaining every step of the way and answering all my questions. It was actually fun trying to pick out a frame here. They carry a large variety of designer frames, and the salespeople absolutely shined here. They took the time to show me different options, gave me honest opinions and were just genuinely warm and friendly people. Disclaimer: you absolutely could have just browsed by yourself and they would have left you in peace, but I really needed some advice on which frames suited my face so I actively engaged them, and they were only too happy to help! They checked with my insurance prior to my appointment so there were no nasty surprises when it came to the bill. They offered very affordable options for contact lenses too, which I will definitely get as soon as I run out. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

Not sure about these five stars....The optometrist and assistant were nice and helpful (added 1 star for that), however I didn't feel like paying hundreds to get my annual contact lenses given that my insurance should cover most. Not sure if the sales guy even called my insurance to verify and it was correct because they didn't even call me back until I called them. And they will charge you $40 even you need their prescription for online orders - different ways to charge more lol I came here because my old optometrist no longer accepts my insurance, but I would go back next year under my hubby's plan...never easy to find a good one and clearly not this place. read more

I walked into Wise Vision (1/20/20) with my wife to look for a new pair of reading glasses. My wife and I were speaking in Portuguese. We were greeted by one of the employees who asked me if she can help. I replied by letting her know that I was looking for a new pair of reading glasses for my wife. After looking at me from head to toe, she replied by saying "You know this is not Walgreens right? You can't just come in here and get a cheap pair of glasses". In shock, I replied by letting her know that I knew that it was not Walgreens and that I have prescription and I was aware of the process/cost. My wife, who saw my frustration asked me what occurred. In order to avoid any issues, and because it embarrassed us in front of many customers... We decided to walk out. I will never go back to his place again. I keep a copy of my prescription in my wallet. I lost me wallet at Newark airport. A good samaritan found my wallet, called Wise Vison to report my lost wallet. Terrible staff. They DO NOT CARE about customers. They're rude and the way they speak to customers is very inappropriate, as some of the other reviews bear out. Oaf behind the counter threw the most expensive frames at me. They didn't fit (and IMHO were ugly) but he was annoyed when I asked to see other options. I swear he checked his watch a dozen times while he was supposed to be helping me. They were not even busy. They only thing they were busy doing was trying to upsell anyone who walked in. I don't like being upsold nor being spoken to rudely so I left and will never go back. There are many other opticians in Hoboken and even more in NYC. read more

I was really grateful that they let me go behind the counter to try on a hundred pairs, and of course they recommended some options that best complimented my face shape too. The reason I'll always be loyal here- they notified me that my eye doctor in NYC mistakenly missed a clause in my insurance which should have made my contacts cheaper. Wise Vision & Hearing is downright INCREDIBLE. Look no further for the one stop shop: eye exam, glasses, contacts, and the friendliest staff ever. I walked out of my eye appointment and contacts learning session/consultation feeling so happy because of the way I was treated by everyone. Starting with the eye appointment Dr. Livia Derdova was friendly, very knowledgeable, and very helpful when meeting with me. I had a contacts training session with Crystal who was so helpful and most importantly, SO PATIENT with me. I have always been freaked out by contacts and putting them in and taking them out and she was so helpful in getting me to figure out how to put them in. (Also everyone cheered when I took them out and put them in for the first time!) Lastly, I brought in a pair of Burberry glasses that I purchased from Wise over a year and a half ago that I broke (a piece near the hinge fell off). They are ordering me a new pair and taking care of it all. It's not everyday you see someone going above and beyond. Especially when they could have just said "Sorry you're out of luck, buy a new expensive pair from us" I can't stress enough how great a place this is. I made an appointment with Dr. Derdova via ZocDoc. I entered my health insurance, and as this is my first year on Government Healthcare I didn't have an option for vision. After my appointment was received on their end, I was promptly emailed for more information for my insurance. They made me aware that, unfortunately, my insurance didn't cover some parts of the contact lens exam that I was coming in for. I asked if they could provide a breakdown of pricing and they gladly obliged. Although I am struggling financially, contacts are not so much a luxury for my line of work, and I really appreciated how thorough they were just via email, so I kept the appointment. When I walked in the office for my appointment, I was greeted by genuine hellos and smiling faces. I was complemented on my glasses, and quickly escorted into a room for my first testing. After the assistant completed testing (whom, by the way, was incredibly sweet, kind, and friendly!) I was quickly brought into the exam room to meet with Dr. Derdova. She welcomed me in warmly, asked routine questions, and began the exam. I have never (in my 20 years of wearing glasses and having eye exams) spent so much time with someone to get the best and correct lens for me. Honestly, that's 2 decades of sitting "yes I can read that line "poskz" "no that's blurry"... and no one attempted to get it JUST right. I felt completely taken care of, and was sent home with not one brand to try but two. I really enjoyed my experience here, felt welcome and at home with friends, and would absolutely choose to come back despite not being covered under my insurance! read more

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the customer service here. Everyone is friendly when I have come to visit this store. I typically come here to get adjustments done to my reading glasses and my sunglasses and they NEVER charge me--and I am prepared to pay for that service! Most surprising part is that I didn't buy the specific glasses at that store. However, I will plan to buy my next pair of glasses there. They deserve to get money from me. read more

I've had some pretty terrible eye doctor experiences since I moved to the area but apparently I'd just missing Dr. Derdova, Javier, Crystal, Amanda, and team. They were so great! Told me what my copay would be on the phone before we even finished scheduling, were 100% up front with all the costs during my visit, and while everyone wants to make a sale they really listened to what I was looking for and how much I wanted to spend. Came from NY and don't wanna go anywhere else. The selection is good and as long as he has that brand in the store he can possibly do a special order frame he may not carry .
