Our pup had a tough time learning to be "chill," didn't have great recall and struggled on a lease. After a month with Cassie, he is a LOT calmer, is well-balanced in his demeanor, listens to commands (the biggest ones for us are "place," "leave it" and "come"), and is a champ on the leash now. I cannot give enough positive praise to Cassie and her team! This is our second day back with our dog and both my boyfriend and I are in awe at how well behaved he is, she has worked miracles with our very anxious and reactive pup! He is a whole new dog and with Cassie's help and training we feel equipped to continue the training work her team has put in with our dog. From the start, Cassie spent plenty of time with us and our dog understanding our concerns and setting expectations for her training program. We went back and forth between having our dog signed up for the 5 vs. 7 week board and train plan, and after speaking with Cassie, she recommended starting off with the 5 week and seeing how he did (which I appreciated). Throughout our dogs stay, Cassie provided weekly updates on his training, along with adorable photos and videos we looked forward to each week. After the 5 week course, Cassie recommended we keep our dog with her for another 2 weeks as he was really starting to make some great progress with his reactivity and we wanted to ensure Casie could continue working her magic so we extended to the 7 week program and I couldn't be happier with our decision. Our dog who used to be very reactive to people knocking on our front door or ringing the door bell, is now completely unphased! His leash walking improvement is also night and day, before sending him to Wise Tails I wasn't able to take him out in public places by myself because of how hard he would pull me, but now he walks calmly by my side. We would 100% recommend having Cassie train your dog! A little background, my partner and I were torn about sending Canyon, our 6 month old puppy, to a board & train program. This was partly because everyone claimed he was so well behaved and his personality is pretty chill. In reality, we usually wore him out before we took him anywhere, so he was just tired when he met our friends. We struggled with leash pulling/lunging (particularly on our morning walks), over-excitement around other dogs, lack of consistency in basic commands (does he understand us or is he ignoring us?!), and mouthing me when he didn't get his way. Cassie worked wonders with Canyon and he is a much better version of his perfect puppy-self. Leash is incredible- he heels, sits when we stop, makes eye contact to engage when we're walking downtown ATX. He is also so much better with his reactivity around other dogs, where it rarely happens unless we're in a weird tightly confined area like an elevator, but even then it's just a little whine because he wants to play with the other dog. "Place" has been a game changer in the house, and it has helped calm the zoomie hour where the mouthing usually happened, giving him something else to focus on. Canyon's listening skills have been turned on and we no longer question if he knows what we're asking of him. Before Wise Tails Academy, we lacked consistency and full knowledge of dog training, trying purely positive techniques to be "kind" dog parents, but it just didn't work and our dog was outsmarting us or confused when we got frustrated. Cassie's balanced approach has given us the boundaries we need and corrections that Canyon understands. If there was any doubt of his happiness at the program (because let's face it, it was so hard to be away from our new pup!) the updates she sent up to the day we picked him up let us know that he was having a blast. His attention and deference to Cassie was incredible and you could tell that he both loved her and respected her while going through training. There's a lot of great things I can say about Wisetails Academy. Cassie made me feel the most comfortable and safe. I found a trainer that I can trust, that's genuine and honest, and most importantly, that provides results. I have 2 puppies with completely different temperaments. Cassie will listen to your needs, analyze your dog's temperament, and work with your dog to give them the love he/she needs. She is knowledgeable, thorough and passionate. You'll immediately be able to see that she loves what she does. She started this business on her own with a vision. I really respect that about her. If you're on the fence about sending your dog to an overnight camp, or looking into training lessons for the first time, my suggestion is that you give one of her programs a shot. I have so much gratitude for Cassie and Dylan and everyone at Wise Tails Academy! My dog Bowie initially started showing signs of reactivity towards dogs and people at around 6 months old. I brought him to another well known training place in Austin (SMS) where we did their day camp and group classes for about 1.5-2 years before I just gave up because we weren't seeing any real results. I decided to try one last time and instead sent Bowie to Wise Tails for their 7 week program and the improvements are just not even comparable! He has completely turned around in his 7 weeks at Wise Tails and has gotten so much farther than he ever came close to at SMS. His whole demeanor is happier, more confident, and more relaxed! Something I'd never think I'd see from him. We are able to go on walks and enjoy our time together because I am confident that he will listen to me. We walk by dogs and people every day and he has not shown one sign of reactivity since I've gotten him back. I have a better understanding of how to handle him, and he has a better understanding of what I want to see from him. What I love about Wise Tails is that they use a more HUMANE ecollar (the other training company did not!), but more importantly they build confidence and trust with the dogs before even introducing the collar. Also, I don't even need to rely on his collar, because he listens to me perfectly fine even without it! I never thought it would be possible for Bowie to be comfortable with other people, never mind strangers to him. But they built such a great relationship with him that he could be without his muzzle, playing with the trainers, and having fun! This gave me hope that with the proper introductions, Bowie could form relationships with other people. By the end of his stay, Bowie displayed signs of wanting to play with other dogs!!! This absolutely blew my mind as he would often freak out, lunging, and growling, at any dog he would see. Everyone at Wise Tails is so informative and patient, and the results that I have seen are priceless. Once upon a time my husband changed Tuckers name to one that starts with an F... Because that's just what he was. We were so DONE! The disobedience, running away, jumping over fences, barking at every single shadow that came across the door... He broke 2 of my ribs on a "casual walk" and we were probably moments away from a major injury to our almost 2 yesr old. So fast forward 5 weeks... Cassie is amazing. We got a new Australian Sheppard puppy who was difficult and shortly thereafter had to leave the puppy at home alone with our son. It turned out to be too much for him to handle and Cassie picked our puppy up, kept him for a week, started potty training him with a clicker, and taught him basic puppy manners. We were so impressed with his turn around - that we had him go back for the 2 week training. He went from not knowing his name, potty training being spotty, not listening, not doing well with the leash to being the best puppy ever. He learned to sit, stay, place, learned how to use the leash and was finally completely potty trained when we picked him up. The best part is we can have him in our front yard and he will come as soon as we call him the first time - even with other dogs to distract him. I would 10000% recommend Cassie and the Wise Tails team for all of your dog training and boarding needs. I have a 3.5 year old golden doodle who I was struggling to train on my own. Specifically, leash walking was a nightmare. I was being dragged down the street by my dog and I could tell both my dog and me were equally frustrated with each other and we weren't communicating. I had invested in other trainers for over a year and saw no results. I thought my dog was hopeless and we'd never have a good walk together....and then I found Cassie on social media and saw all her amazing reviews. If anyone could help me with my dog, I believed she could. And she really did. My relationship with my dog has never been the same. He's still his goofy and silly self, but he's a confident and calmer version of himself and I'm finally speaking the same language as him. And yes, walking him is a dream. Not only could he heel like a pro (with every neighbor marveling at how well behaved he was!), but he earned his off leash freedom and I was finally able to give him the fun and adventurous life that he deserved. I did the 6 week board and train with him about 1.5 years ago and he retained 90%+ of what he learned over that time. Cassie creates the playbook and then it's on you to be diligent and follow her playbook at home. It's a lifelong commitment so please don't expect to take your dog to a board and train program and never have to work at it again. It just isn't "work" anymore because it's fun and your dog knows what to do. Recently I had to go out of town and I decided to board my dog with Cassie and give him a refresher training. We had just been through life changes together and I wasn't keeping up with his training. It was my fault. All of his at home manners were still in good shape, but leash walking became difficult again. I dropped him off at Cassie's for 2.5 weeks and the progress he's made in that time is incredible. He heels and pays attention to me the entire time and I feel in control, not the other way around. Truly, I wouldn't be able to have a happy life with my dog if it weren't for Cassie. I cannot tell you how much Wise Tails changed my and my dog's everyday life for the better! The decision to take Nim to training was a big one, but I am SO GLAD I did it. The issues we struggled with ran the gamut from jumping up on people, to no recall command, to extreme leash aggression (to the point that I was getting dragged across roads and injured if he saw another dog). After training with Cassie, Nim and I have a clear set of commands, a better understanding of each other, and I feel safe and confident walking him, taking him to dog parks, having people over, etc. I needed more training than he did, honestly, and what's great about Cassie is she does both so well! I brought my 4 year old Westie to Wise Tails after trying for over a year to get her training in order myself. She had lost all her basic commands like sit, down, walking on leash without pulling, recall, place and much more. She also had a very strong prey drive which would cause her to not listen and run after squirrels vs recalling to me. I can't say enough good things about Cassie and Wise Tails. We adopted our blue heeler/ Aussie shepherd mix a little over a month and a half ago, and he came to us with a lot of leash reactivity. He would go absolutely crazy when he saw another dog and nothing we tried worked. He also had a lot of anxiety and just had a hard time listening. We got to a point where we didn't know how to help him, and needed someone to step in to help us understand what to do. We took him to Cassie for a two week board and train and he came back to us a happy, well behaved pup. She laid a foundation and taught him the fundamentals that he needed in a sustainable way, but also taught us as his owners how to clearly communicate with him so he understands what we are asking for. I wish I was writing this review about Cassie's training quality and services but we didn't even get to that point with her due to unprofessionalism during the inquiry and booking process. We had heard nothing but amazing things about her training and the wonders she does with the dogs she trains so we reached out eager to get the ball rolling with evaluation and booking if we both felt it was a great fit. It was nearly impossible to get in touch with her. She takes weeks to respond. Once she does respond, she sends me pricing and her packages. I let her know that we'd like to schedule an evaluation and then she emails me back several days later to tell me that they are taking over a month off to handle some personal things. I completely understood that and we waited that whole month for her to come back. Once she does come back, she emails me saying that she's ready to schedule the phone call evaluation. Even though her emails were direct, blunt, and not overly friendly up to this point, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and just kept going with it since we had already invested so much time and effort into trying to work with her. On the call, she was not any better. She seemed to be in a rush to get off the phone and like she couldn't be bothered with what we had to say. By the end of the call, however, we decided on the first week of January 2022 for our dog to come for the 5-week board and train program. She just said that if we wanted to move forward, we could Venmo her the deposit and that she would send more info as we got closer to January. My husband and I took two days to discuss and decide if we wanted to move forward. I sent her the $1000 deposit via Venmo two days after our conversation and asked that she confirm that she received it since there's no contract or anything which also seemed like a red flag to me. A few days after receiving the Venmo payment she emails me saying that she received it but the dates we had discussed are no longer going to work because she has now decided to go out of town in January so now the training would need to be in February. She offered to refund me the deposit. The sheer disrespect and unprofessionalism to do that to us after all the time we waited and effort we invested into it is absurd. She completely wasted our time. Cassie seems like she feels that she has enough clients waiting in line to work with her that she doesn't care about professionalism or courtesy. Even if she can train dogs, that is not enough to be a stand up business person. You have to be kind, courteous, and professional with the humans who are paying the money to train their dogs too. I would steer clear of working with her. We are excited to take our money and time elsewhere to another dog trainer. read more
